View Full Version : RX8 Spotting and Fessing ..
I noticed that there's a lot of "hey, saw an RX8 at xyz.." in the various threads..
I wonder if we shouldn't just start a thread dedicated to "RX8 spotting!" ??
Could be a laugh being able to reply ( fess up ) with "hey, that was me - license plate #blah"?
And those of use weird enought to snap phone cam pix of RX8's we see about could drop 'em here to compare notes?
Could be weird if someone's car gets pinched and eyeballed in the thread!
Cheers,
++dez;
ps: anyone else wardriving in their RX8's yet?
If anyone posts "I save a velocity red 8 with licence number XXXXXX driving down blah blah, traveling at 200kmh" I'll come round and visit them personally! :)
By all means do the place, time, colour thing, but don't id peoples plates please - for those that like a little privacy.
(you can alway pm plates if you have the need)
Kev.
PS Dez, I drive down your way on my way to the city often, You'd drive past my place heading up the 'beaches - I haven't seen blue in the flesh yet :)
Kev,
yea - you're right - posting plates wasn't so bright an idea - ditch that.. what was I thinking ( clearly I wasn't I guess ).. doh!

the past few weeks has seen me zip up to terry hills for breakfast with wife and 2yr old daughter in tow for breakfast at Buddah Belly, the odd trip resulting from "this proposal is doing my head in, why don't I drive to chatswood, down frenches forrest way, back through manyley and the spit bridge, and by the time I get back to the office in North Sydney it should make a little more sense..".
I don't think there's a back street in the northern beaches area I haven't given the old "wonder what's around this corner" test of late * sigh * - yea - I've got issues.. I know.. you don't have to say it..
RX8 dirvers anonymous: "Hi, My name is Dez, I've been driving an RX8 for four weeks now, and I can't go for more than a few hours.. without feeling like I'm going cold turkey!"
PM me a contact number some time - as I have a new RX8 afliction of late that see's me "pop" out for a spin around north or south heads, balmoral beath, the old naval base on the south end of balmoral ( neat little streach of road there to toe tap a little if you're in the area ) or just a fang around to the zoo and back - perhaps we should hook up for a coffee mid fang one evening - I'll PM ya back with my mobile.
Black RX8 cruising into town via Kuraba Road at around 17:35 - waved, got nothing back.. traveling two up - prolly an intense conversation..
anyone we know? local to Mosman or passer through I wonder.
++dez;
I keep seeing a titanium on pittwater road in the region of Dee Why - about 4 spottings.
Rob,
that titanium's not you is it?
I'll add my daily spotting of a winning blue [ parking folk tell me the fellow workes at AAMI I think it is ] and velocity red [ not a heavy tipper according to the parking staff ] parked in the secure parking space on little walker streets - anyone we know? could be fun to have a three up cruise somere over lunch.
[ yea Rob - I'm still doing 45min lunch time bursts just for fun - sigh ].

Wasn't me .. :-(
I've not spotted many this week, although I do remember a Velocity Red west bound on City West Link near Leichardt with numeral only plates .. very smart!!
I still can't believe the stares I get it this car .. after 5 weeks the celebrity factor is still 9.9 !!
I'll keep my eyes peeled!
R
Brisbane sightings today:
Saw a red one driving along Latrobe Tce today about lunch time. Hymee... I made sure it wasn't yours. I think it had gold on black plates. My g/f was driving.... we gave you a wave.
Saw a yellow one driving northbound on Lutwytche Rd today about 4pm. I was parked in a carpark... so you wouldn't have seen me.

My favourite is when I'm stopped a lights in town and pedestrians go out of their way to walk where they can see the badge on the back of the car to work out what it is.
Hymee 11-08-2003, 07:25 AM Dreaming of a Red M6 with Grill Kit parked in garage and not being driven....
   :( :( :( :(
pricer01 11-08-2003, 06:14 PM I've found a way to spot an 8 in the privacy of my backyard!!!
A blue on p 23 of the Sun Herald in a car wash in Mosman!!
Was that you Dez??

I hope not! You get the post-- rule applied if you are found guilty of using a car wash:eek: :D
Cheers,
Hymee.
Relax guys..
wasn't me at that filthy [ pun intended ] car wash.. the only assistance I get washing my little blue car is a drop dead gorgeos blonde in the form of my two year old daughter..
We spent a good portion of this afternoon loving and grooming the 8 [ and mum's 323 poor old
Astina, which is soon to enter chrysalis state and morph into a Tribute [ 4wd ] after xmas )
hell... if any of you catch me taking my little blue 8 to a car wash, you not only have my permission, but my formal request to "KICK MY ASS"!
I may know whose it was though.. and it's a "she" - enuf said.. ( no insult to the better gender a such.. just "this" particular "she" ).
Oh, and in the thread of "..the looks I get in this car still [ quoting Rob - hi Rob! ] - I've got to admit that albeit I once hated folk who did this, I've started driving with the little picture of the car with squigly lines on the dash, and I can't help myself on "certain" corners, steping "out" the back end just a little, for fun..
And the most fun place I've found to do this in day to day driving is a spot at the top of Essex street in the Quay in Sydney, where you turn right [ down hill ] into Essex towards George St, and there's this whapping great wall of mirror glass you can see your entire car with, and it's quite fun to come quietly around the corner, make sure there's nobody around or in the way, and "step out" the back and take a peak in the building in front's mirror windows, only to see your little 8 doing this mind blowing "drift" around the corner at slow speed - sigh - I think I've become a "rev head" - how did that happen!?
++dez;
ps: I just had a good old chuckle picturing me at that Jim Carey character in Liar Liar beathing the shit out of himself in the toilets ( or something like that - it's been a while since I saw that cruddy movie on a plane ) but in this case it was me in a car wash throwing myself to the ground repeatedly when I realised where I was.. and someone asking me what the bloody hell I was doing.. to which I would have to answer "I'm kicking my ass!" - oh boy.. I need help!
labrat 11-09-2003, 02:14 AM SCO, the red 8 on Latrobe Tce at about 12:15 on Saturday was most likely us! We waved at you guys. we were on our way to a Saturday lunch in Paddo after picking up some genuine German Bratwurst and Knackwurst at Heinz' butchery in the 'Gabba.

Very cool looking car... almost as good as mine ;) Great to see someone else on the forum out on the road :D
I was heading into town for a bite to eat and a bit of shopping.
"..genuine German Bratwurst and Knackwurst.."
further evidence that the RX8 pilot is indeed a highly evolved creature of wide and varied taste.

Hymee 11-09-2003, 07:00 AM I saw a whole bunch of them yesterday:

Interesting to note some of the subtle differences. I know why they didn't bother with the 16" wheels in Oz!
Cheers,
Hymee.
PS - Another interesting thing - They seem to have more in stock than they have sold. I asked the guy and he said he had sold 5 since they came out. I actually went there to see how much I could get some strakes for.
bamachemist 11-09-2003, 07:57 AM I saw a Nordic Green in Odessa, De on rt 13....I was crusiing next to her in my Tribute going around a long bend, then all of a sudden, I was alone and the RX-8 was outta site. Then I started to choke on her dust.....I need to get me one of them there Rx-8's...maybe after the winter.....
Wildcard 11-09-2003, 08:17 AM Those 16" wheels look so out of place. Thank god they didn't come to Australia - our car would have lost some local credibility. I'm very happy with the stock 18's though.
There's something inherantly wrong with a mazda delaer having a "glut" of RX8's - it just seems to go against all things natural..
Made for some curious pixs through. Thx Hymee.
I notice they all have orance forward indicators?
I'm pretty sure mine are clear? Will check tomorrow but I'm sure I didn't get orange..
++dez;
Hymee 11-09-2003, 10:44 AM Dez wins the banana. Orange indicators is the subtle difference I mentioned. I thought it was just a pre-production thing - i.e. the Aussie brochures have orange lenses. The other subtle difference seems to be the non-appearance of the headlight washers on the models with the fog light "option". I suppose it is a "pack" thing in Australia, used for economies of scale - i.e. the bean counters here decided on a standard pack of accesssories we would be likely to get and opted to have them fitted at the factory.
Cheers,
Hymee.
timbo 11-09-2003, 05:48 PM Hey, Hymee -- was that the Mazda dealer on el Camino Real at Cupertino/Santa Clara? I was there in mid-July just as they got their first delivery and a really nice sales guy showed me the various spec'd cars. They had about 10 in stock, just off the truck and detailed.
Have to say I agree the models with 16" wheels looked wimpy and I'm glad that pov model hasn't made it here.
Timbo
Hymee 11-09-2003, 07:54 PM Timbo,
Nah - it is Bentley's Mazda (ironic hey?) in Huntsville, Alabama.
I drove a US GT spec '8 today. I'm gunna post full details later when I finish wathcing a rocket show on cable ;)
Cheers,
Hymee.
Hymee:

chortle - paranomasia maxima indeed!
I was going to ask about the whole steering wheel on the wrong side until my left brain said "Hymee's in da usa doh..".
good to see my brain is still able to connect to visual input that late at night..
thank god we in AU got the clear lenses, I really really don't like the orance US version.
++dez;
ps: I'll be taking that banana fully bent when I finally meet you * grin *
pps: shit.. I just noticed I've migrated all the way from Junior member to just Member.. when did that happen.. I feel like I've lost my virginity all over again!
Dez
12 more and you'll be a senior member :D and you can pick your description.
Hmm... I think you and Hymee should catch up early before the meet for the banana thing... I for one do not want to be even close to such an affair :p
pricer01 11-10-2003, 04:17 AM A final note on the Banana ..
Dez ... dont pursue the banana thing ... your beautiful young blonde wont want to find a skeleton in the RX8 ....
Hymee...We need to find a better reward than Bananas

It was the same in the UK. All the brouchures pictures seem to have been the pre-production US models - and if you look carefull you'll see they were reversed to pretend it was right hand drive.

Wildcard 11-10-2003, 07:00 AM Some more trivia...
I heard that headlight washers are an Australian design requirement for all cars with xenon headlights. Hence why we've got them. You will also see washers on cars like the S2000, where they look really out of place. Apparently the reason is that because the intensity of the xenon lights are so strong, washers are installed to remove grime and dirt that may refract the light from your headlights into the eyes of on-coming motorists.
Also - the clear indicators are a pretty popular aftermarket accessory in the US. They are going for US$70 if I recall.
ok ok ok..
I want to make this very clear.. the banana is history * grin *
It was a nice thought - but on re-review - it's developed a very nasty connotation that any healthy RX8 pilot would do a tail spin on [ sorry - couldn't help myself one final refference ].
After almost pissing myself reding the follow up posts to the whole 'nana thing - shit - I'm going to need those ribs round for fractures!
I'm pleased to say that "YOU PEOPLE NEED HELP - SEEK PROFESSIONAL ADVICE!"
And I'm very glad to be in the midst 'o y'all!
On more relevant note:
I have actually noticed the light "refraction" thing at night, driving back from Qld recently I noticed that the lights seemed pretty dull, so I hit the old RX8 two step and sprayed the lights a few times.. and the difference was instantly noticable.. particularly the short to medium spread of light.. for some reason the long distance lighting was not really much dirrerent, but the first say 10 to 15 metres I could indeed tell the difference between "bug shit and brains" covered head lights and "non-bug shit and brains" covered lights..
I wonder if there's an air dam design that could produce a bow wave type effect that could keep those pesky bugs off the car?
Hymee: was your grill design driven by the Bogon Moth by they way? Just curious - they are up your way arn't they?
Those pesky beggards can really make a mess when they commit the old shit and brains manouver on any car..
on a less serious note:
has anyone else found that you can really piss off a tree fiddy driver by exercising your right to wash your lights while sitting at a Red light?
the look on a 350z drivers face as they realise you just sprayed their car as you peal off doing the old RX8 double tap on the window wipers..
shit.. you'd have to watch the entire mexican air force crash land into a petrolium plant to beat that for good laughs!
++dez;
Hymee 11-10-2003, 06:01 PM It is nut bug shit and brains. It is bug's arse. Cause that is the last thing that goes through their minds as they hit. Hehehe.
I can't join the spray squad. I have the poverty pack. Plus I get the shits when anyones washers are badly aligned I get there stinkin dirty water on my loveley clean paint.
And yes, the big Qld bugs are also something that can make a hole in the cooler cores. I just need to invent something that protects from the drop bears, and also from being overtaken by hoop snakes!.
Sometimes I just crack myself up.
Cheers,
Hymee.
Oh.. you're in commedy as well as bars and grills ( note I didn't mention anything to do with adjusting the alignment of yellow fruit.. well, I am refering to it, but not exactly or explicitely in the form of the actual banana and it's bending.. oh shit.. I did mention it.. ah well.. * grin * ).
what is the impact velocity of a drop bear at 120km p/h anyway? it's probably right up there with those frozen size 12 chickens the USA airforce launch at 300 km p/h at their fighter jets in wind tunnels to test the impact capabilities of their segmented cockpit designs!
as for your hoop snakes.. what the f*ck is a hoop snake [ I know what I think it is - what do you think it is? ].
and there's no shame in the povery pack - it's a thing of choice of course.. a light washer doesn't make any difference to the car at 180km p/h or more in 4th gear at 9400 rpm * grin *
++dez;
ps: arn't you back in AU yet?
Hymee 11-10-2003, 10:26 PM No dude, still in Hunstville, Alabama.
I get back to my favourite city in the world on Friday.
A hoop snake puts it tail in its mouth and rolls along like a hoop to chase you.
And if you don't believe in Drop Bears - just watch the Bundy add. They are a gem. We had a young Swedish lady on a working holiday do some reception work in the office. One of the guys started talking to here about dangerous bugs etc... I couldn't help myself and mentioned the Drop Bears. Can you just image her sweedish accent "Drrr'op Bearrz??" Just like the add on telly. It barred me up. Sorry, it cracked me up.
Maybe I am a cunny funt.
Cheers,
Hymee.

Don't know about that, but am sure you know some cunning stunts:p

I can't join the spray squad. I have the poverty pack.
Hymee, I prefer to call it "the lightweight model", and thank my lucky stars that Mazda doesn't charge more for less, unlike Porsche, BMW....:p
back of the envelope math tells me you only have to sell a hand full of tickets to Hymee's Bar and Grill to fund an upgrade... if you're into that sort of thing..
I have to say though, that although I'm still somewhat smitten with the car, I have a couple of things that I really feel like I got ripped off by, and the top of my "geeze guys.." list is:
1 - plastic "looks like metal" strips down the top edge of the centre console - shit - how much would the aluminium version cost - if you can do an RX8 logo strip on the inside door step, then for god sake do the top edge of the centre console that's going to get a shit load more bumps and knocks and eyeball time.
I've actually considered getting an engineering firm look at replacing the silver plastic for me if they can do something that won't screw the car up.
++dez;
I read somewhere on the forum something about carbon fibre replacements for the fake aluminium... a search may be fruitful.

Totally agree - my passenger side fake chrome already has a nasty scratch exposing its humble origins. Wonder if Mazda Warranty will stretch to cover it.....:) guess not!
pricer01 11-11-2003, 05:19 AM Dez
This really needs a separate thread... WHAT CHEESES ME OFF .. (apologies to Daryl and Ozzie!)
I fully agree with you though (I cant believe I wrote those words, my 13 year old daughter would be proud .. fully!)
My plastuminium was marked on day 5 but has been complemented by marks in the back and on the side of the plastic backing to the drivers seat.
WHATEVER HAPPENED TO HARD PLASTIC !!!!!
Of course the annoyance is fully mitigated by both the pathetic grin I wear all the time and the 'I bet I can take that corner without using the brakes' feeling ...
Life is a trade off !
Rob
Yea,
I found that there's a Mazdaspeed replacement [ no surprises there - they have some pretty funky nuts working there - most of whom I'd love to meet ]..
Check out:
http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12601&highlight=center+console+metal
Canzoomer said he imports from Japan for around $495 which I'm assuming is USD [ he's in the states ].. I've asked in the thread if he'll ship here or perhaps he'll give me details of where in Japan we can get them from.
I'm planning next week to go shopping for some car products and test a handfull of them for surface protection from the sun, as well as their ability to remove scufs from the doors and keep the doors from scuffing so bloody easily.
++dez;
druck 11-11-2003, 06:13 AM According to the hardback book the reason Mazda weren't able to use real aluminium for the centre console strips, is they got too hot when the car was left in direct sunlight. All you'd need is one stupid merkin to burn themselves and Mazda would be facing a class action auite for $millions.
Cheers
---Dave
I wondered about that - but surely they [ Mazda ] could have come up with the same carbon fibre idea that others have..
I keep getting the feeling that Mazda took a great new engine from Renesis, threw a few outsourced contractors at the "build us a car for this thing will ya" at it and at the very end rushed the "shit, we forgot to sort out the interior - quick - what have we got we can put in there"..
as for merikans.. I guess if you look at the fact that they blew up and rebuilt the town that finally produced the RX8, history has a strange set of twists and turns to explain for my money.
stay tuned for the pending FAQ on what to do for the interior of your RX8 to keep it new, and then if I don't go mad writing that, one for the exterior as well - feel free to add your experiences please!

aussie8 11-11-2003, 06:24 AM Had nightmares about the orange indicators, had decided on Winning Blue and ordered the car, got on the web that night and found conflicting images, some with the clear, some with the orange, yuuuk! (orange and blue just doesn't work) Had a sleepless night before calling the dealer and being assured that the australian version had the clear indicators, phew! Now just have to wait the final week before i pick up my baby
what ever you do - don't make my mistake of printing a calendar with a picture of your car ( there's only one good picture on the web of a Winning Blue RX8 and it's at the Renesis site - happy to send ya some of mine though * grin * ) and live through the pain of crossing off how many "sleeps" left you have - sigh - shit that made the days drag on..
But if you really feel you want to count down the last ten sleeps.. here's a must have PDF to print out [ smile ]:
http://websearch.com.au/rx8/RX8-Calendar.pdf
Where in AU are you? If you're in Sydney, PM me when you get the car and we'll hook up for a spin.. two winning blue rx8's fanging down the road.. ah.. it's just so right!
Cheers,

Hymee 11-11-2003, 07:36 AM I think in addition to a "What Cheezuz me off" thread what we need is a "My first lose after thinking I didn't need to brack" thread ;)
That would be funny in a sad sort of educational way.
Cheers,

aussie8 11-12-2003, 04:28 AM That would be great dez but i'm in melbourne, will have to find someone else to do formation spins with. BTW love the calender, have printed and already crossed three days off!
OK Back on topic here
Saw a black RX-8 heading onto the inner city bypass off Kingford Smith Drive at about 1:45pm today with maroon on white plates.
Anyone here?
Hymee 11-12-2003, 08:19 AM Sco - Interesting twist to our red with white on black plates
Yah! - Coming home today. Get home Friday.
Cheers,

Lock & Load 11-12-2003, 01:13 PM Hymee
Curious when you get home on Friday who is getting the most attention . Wife , Family , Work. or your RX8 .
Realizing its a hard question , so take time with your reply .
You could always take car wife kids and your boss for a spin at the same time there by meeting all your obligations all in one .
HA HA HA.
Hymee 11-13-2003, 07:45 PM Some c@nt stole stuff from out of my checked luggage somewhere between where I checked it (HSV) and where I collected it (BNE).
There you go - the moderator is swearing again.
Hymee 11-13-2003, 07:50 PM L&L
Got home. Kids at school. Wife at hairdressers. RX-8 in garage. Go figure!!
aussie8: glad it's now driving you as mad as it did me * grin * - how many sleeps now? As for the formation flying - sorry - wasn't sure where you were on the planet, but if you're every up for a "meet you in the middle" drive I'd love to drive down through Young, Harden, and such and meet ya in the middle some where for a weekend country "hoon"!
Hymee: thats crappy luck - great to hear you're back on the right side of the planet finally again - had a similar "this is not my house, this is not my .. oh, yea, this IS! my car * grin *" experience today when I got home to an empty house and such.. wife a 2 year old had gone out for cwafee! So thougth f*ck it - and drove for another hour around the northern beaches up through Curl Curl * grin *
As for the thread - it's been days since I saw another RX8 - whats going on!?
++dez;
pricer01 11-14-2003, 05:20 AM I'm starting to feel like an orphan .. haven't seen an 8 for days ...
Tonights celebrity moment was a classic. I was on Pitt St waiting at the lights. A guy on the footpath comes over stands in the vacant space in the lane next to me and has a big check out the RX8 moment, then gives me the giant double thumbs up .. at which point his female companion tried to get him off the road ...
On the way home tonight I gave the 8 its first really big go (passed 5000K) .. full noise in 1st to 3rd!.. YAAA HOOOOOOOO .. my adrenaline was pumping faster than the Renesis was swallowing the PULP .. Sensational!!
is there anything better !!!!!
I've often said you'd have to watch the entire mexican air force crash land into a petrolium plant to beat the rush of a full flat foot to the floor burst of speed through 2nd, 3rd and 4th launching off the Sydney harbour bridge heading north to the Neutral Bay turn off..
One of the few camera free zones where the road's capable of handling a car flying at frightening speeds.. ironic it's in the heard of a controlled road space..
We should map out spaces where owners have been that they can freely "open it up" and not get virtical bar vision..

Eightball 11-14-2003, 07:10 PM Have been reading posts for a while, but just joining the fray.
Dez - black 8 on kurraba rd a week or so ago was probably me. Two-up with the other half, probably discussing something serious like the best colour for the 8 which was why we didn't respond...:) LIve in leafy suburbia in the NS - will usually respond to friendly waves. Had mine since ~9/03, and still grinning.....
Wouldn't mind quick spins with you if in desparate need for driving company as long as work permits - weekend shifts intermittently and unfortunately....
On topic, saw a titanium/silver parked in a side street near Nick Scali furniture in Chatswood - anyone?
Otherwise, still counting on 2 hands only the number of RX-8s I've seen on the road - good for the celebrity status anyway!
Jaycee 11-14-2003, 09:22 PM Saw a Titanium 8 parked in Miller St, Nth Sydney this morning, opposite the product markets . First Titanium I've looked at closely - nice colour but this one could do with a clean!! (I can say that cause I got virtuous and gave my Velocity Red a thorough inside and outside clean this morning.)
labrat 11-14-2003, 11:46 PM My wife saw a red one parked in the old run short mart on the corner of Illowra St. and Waterworks Rd. The Gap at 11:20 am today Saturday. You can run but not hide!
Brisbane: Saw a red one on latrobe tce 4:45pm yesterday- Sat 15/11.
Gave 'em the thumbs up, but don't think they saw me
(hard to get noticed in a ford escape.)
Saturday in Collaroy, yellow (oh well) RX8 parked. At home?
zilla 11-17-2003, 12:11 AM Saw a winning blue this arfo at Wynyard, turning left onto George St
Had spoiler and fender strakes, its the first blue one ive seen outside of hte motor show on the road.. is that your one dez?
takahashi 11-17-2003, 12:30 AM Parked next to a Velocity red RX8 with leather with a funny rego YoYo... gave him a message to join the club... not very effective is it?
pricer01 11-17-2003, 02:26 AM I saw two on a car trailer this morning near the glebe car terminal .... still not seen one on the road for days!
A Red RX8 was seen in the CBD of Adelaide this morning. From Victoria, with custom plates of a very obvious nature.
This website URL was placed under the windscreen in case they are not a member.
takahashi 11-18-2003, 02:48 PM I did that to the Velocity Red with rego "YOYO" no response to this so far
Again saw another one in the West gate bridge just off the bridge to Citylink - a titanium grey turning to South Melbourne side... anyone here???
I flash my light and stuff but the car slowed down and avoided me. DID I DO SOMETHING WRONG?
Hymee 11-18-2003, 05:25 PM When we had our first offical cruise, we were waiting in Harries Diner car park - 3 RX-8s, a 6 and a Cosmo. This Titanium '8 drove in past us - kept driving, didn't even bat an eyelid. He drove out 5 minutes later - same thing. 10 minutes later he drove past on Newmarket Road, same again, like we didn't even exist. Weird.
Not everyone is as passionate about their cars as us I guess!
Cheers,
Hymee.

Anyone here??
Saw a silver turning into Wharf St about 3:45 yesterday (Thu). Flashed my lights. First one I've seen on the road.
Velocity Red - personalised Number plate with a "royalty" theme
Seen at Burpengary BP transit centre this afternoon.
pricer01 11-21-2003, 05:55 AM Saw a black 8 on Art Gallery Road near domain atound 1.30. Premier plates APH ***.
Nice spoiler !!!
Great to see this thread flowing a little more now..
Hi, I'm back in the land of the living.. had a week out ( more on that over lunch )..
Like most of you, I've started to see many more 8's around, infact on parked right in front of my bloody home here in Mosman, titanium ( with a young kid in the front seat! don't these guys know the law? or safety? )
I'm guessing that the handful of us who were early adopters have a lot more in comon than those who are now buying the 8 as a "car" rathter than a religious experience.

takahashi 11-24-2003, 01:13 AM Hey I cut in front of a Velocity Red today at my place - near Crown on the Queensbridge St. Southbank... I wanna say sorry and thanks for the space in front of your 8 - YOU MUST BE wondering why I have a rear fog light HEHE
There's been lots of spotting but not much 'fessing... good on you takahashi.
Hymee 11-24-2003, 05:30 AM Slightly different, but releated subject...
How many of us have had this sort of thing happen:
Was driving along the ICB this morning, when this Stigma came flying up behind me like a bat out of hell. Swapped into the lane next to me and settled down in my rear 3/4. Had a look for a while then pulled alongside me, gave the thumbs up and a wave, then went on his merry way.
Cheers,
Hymee.
Pity it was a bloke!
Happens all the bloody time.
Best one was two rapidly approaching motor bikes in my rear view mirror. One either side of me in a three laner. Stayed there for a good 10 seconds, gave me a big grin, thumbs up, and both did a huge mono and took off like a bat out of hell
:)
Yes, common. Usually young blokes. I've notice ladies looking too, but they're more subtle with it - and I'm typically looking their way in the first place :)
Lock & Load 11-24-2003, 05:18 PM Local motorcycle cop , in surfers doing routine breatholisers stopped me for breatholizer , having admitted that he didnt think id be foolish enought to drink and drive in such a beuatifull car he got me in a conversation about the car , i also complimented him on his fine motorcycle .

Typical kev wants to be seen wearing the RED American Indian outfit .

timbo 11-24-2003, 07:07 PM Does that mean I get to wear my hard hat? :D
The "Blue Oyster" is the gay bar in the Police Academy movies :)
Right up to speed as usual timbo!
L&L, I even found myself leaning towards a red striped tie yesterday ... I've never heard of "red fever" - but I've got it :)
aussie8 11-25-2003, 05:15 AM If anyone sees a winning blue 8 tomorrow in melbourne it will probably be me, picking my car up tomorrow and not planning on getting out of it:D :D :D
L&L: you have issues.. I like that.. but hey, you have issues!
Kev: you watch far too many low budget movies!
aussie8: yay! it's now your responcibility to clock 200km or more per day for the first week!
Kev: say zero hail mary's, drive 200km, and clock up 8,500 rpm's on multiple counts, and yea shall find the truth!
timbo: don't make it a hard hat the color of your car!
me: Ive got.. got to get a life!
I spent the past 24 hours moulding a 2RU rack mount dual Xeon with a ship load of RAM, and 2TB of RAID disk like it was clay and managed to consolodate the front end o fhttp://WebSearch.COM.AU from three independant engines to a single black box..
What the f*ck does that have to do with an RX8?
Easy, now I'm bursting to drive drive drive and the gas is on http://WebSearch.COM.AU's advertising account * grin *
The ultimate dream, a pet project that pay's the Shell Optimax bill.. ah.. we are indeed the lucky country..

timbo 11-25-2003, 03:43 PM Woo hoo :p - a lovely Velocity Red this morning at 8:15 am parked on the Pac Hwy at Crows Nest. That you, Kev?
Not me! Haven't escaped the northern beaches save for a wet run round the harbour Monday night (taxi).
I tend to try and work from home when the weather is bad.
I'm trying to figure out who the new yellow 8 is in Collaroy. The dealer manager at Brookvale has gone from his yellow demonstrator to black, so I'm pretty certain someone picked up the demo 8 recently.
(I'll get the wife's intelligence network onto it - school kid mums are the best source of intel.)
Hymee 11-26-2003, 06:22 AM I went to the Murcott course today.
2 Red ones (one a Hymee mobile). 1 yellow one. 2 Grey ones - to my eye they looked different shades, but definately not the difference between Titanium and Silver.
None of them had heard of the forum, or if they had, thought it was a US thing. Hopefully some will get on board.
Here is a picture of the Yellow one.
(oops teaser - I'll post tomorrow, camera in car and I'm ready for z's)
I believe it was Lock&Load, cranky about the un-available oil or something.
Cheers,
Hymee.
seen:
one black rx8 - right up my arse, then right next to me, then in front of me, and then back in my rear view mirror..
when.. last night's Night Drive - hee hee..
I'm so lame..
It seems the more I look out for the bloody things, the less and less I see RX8's about now!

jeffneil 11-30-2003, 02:25 AM Back to RX-8 spotting -
On Wednesday morning my wife saw a Titanium Grey on our street just off the F3 on the Central Coast - TonyM from Kariong - was that you ?
Then today I was at the Central Coast Motor Show in Gosford where I saw the star car of the Mazda stand was a Velocity Red with a spoiler and it was being sold as a demo for a whopping $69,498 - for a DEMO !! I had heard that Mazda are selling off the demo models but didn't expect such a premium price - amazing !
Then on the way home a Yellow one went south on the Pacific Hwy at Ourimbah and I was in our Winning Blue example so perhaps they were as surprised as I was to see another one on the road.
Jeffneil
seen:
Silver / Titanium '8 in Mosman [ yet again ] - Dad driving ( sans son previously seen with )..
Whodat? Must jam a [hey-you-join-the-rx8forum.com-or-die] buisess card under his wipers if I see him parked.

msydd 11-30-2003, 03:34 AM jeffneil,
My wife said she saw a blue one in Ourimbah on Saturday (around 11am)...possibly yours!
Unfortunately she wasn't in ours... I needed to take my bike up (I was cycling)... haven't used the RX8 for bike transport yet!
Was that Ourimbah on the pacific hwy or Ourimbah on the F3?
If it was the F3, it was me - I was doing my best to get from Newcastle to Sydney in under an hour and not die - fegging trucks full of big iron [ 'putas ] arrived early at the Data Center and I had to let the beggars in.. hate that!
My plates start with APF??? if you're watching.
++dez;
ps: had to edit my plate from AFP??? to APF??? - apparently I'm becoming dislexic in my old age.. I blame it on the recent excessive solar flar activity [ bring it on BOFH! ]
Hymee 11-30-2003, 04:08 AM Dez - you can always join the DNA. National Dyslexia Association.
Hehehe.
yea, thats right up there with "There once was a dyslexic who beleived in a DOG!"
cafor cafor!

ps: thought you said you were cooking dinner?
hmm.. shit, so much for me saying I was --post today, man, what would I be like if I decided to ++post I wonder.. thats a scary thought indeed!
--dez;
ps: this apparently breaks the 300++ mark, that didn't take long, I must have driveled some rapid crap to acheive that little milestone.. sorry..

pricer01 11-30-2003, 05:56 AM Back to spotting ..
saw a titaniium on King Georges Road about 6.20pm tonight .. in need of some serious washing ...
Gave me a big thumbs up !!
It was kinda cool to be in a conga line with an identical eight .. my son in particular thought it was fantastic
Hymee 11-30-2003, 10:10 PM Saw a Red one, Bridge street Albion this morning. Hello sco :) - You were looking down  Then as I was leaving the hire place in Borrows St (took back the spot welder) I see another one shoot down Abbotsford Rd. Maybe sco got caught in tracffic. Then after getting out of the way of an ambo near the end of the ICB, I find myself cathing another red one outbound on Coro drive, just before I had to trun into Graham street for work. Too far away to see if it was sco's plates, but I guess it was.
Cheers,
Hymee.
MadMAX 11-30-2003, 10:34 PM I caught a glimpse of a red one thismorning, on Southpine road heading toward Strathpine about 9:00am. The only ones I have seen on the road so far have been red! Are there any other colours on the north side?
Hi MadMax
Mines black... and on the Northside.
Have also seen a couple of titaniums this side of town also.
Wildcard 12-01-2003, 04:57 AM Expect to see my silver one cruisin' the streets of Strathpine this Christmas....
Hymee 12-01-2003, 05:20 AM And the A/C condensor and the oil cooler will be both well protected on that long drive from Newcastle to Brisbane.
We will all have to hook up one night. I am on the Northside, along with a few others.
Cheers,
Mark.
Lock & Load 12-01-2003, 04:51 PM Spotted at least 6 rx8 s here on the gold coast , however they are not a very friendly bunch of wan kels , wouldnt even acknowledge my waves , but then again i realised that they were driving the AUTOMATIC VERSION , in my opinion that says it all .

Yes it was me - heading north on the Pacific Hwy between Lisarow and Ourimbah about 11:15am I think it was.
Des said: "Was that Ourimbah on the pacific hwy or Ourimbah on the F3? If it was the F3, it was me - I was doing my best to get from Newcastle to Sydney in under an hour and not die"
No, this was on the Pacific Hwy heading south towards Lisarow - this is the yellow one I'm talking about here. Who was it ?
'I' was in the blue one !!!
I happen to know at least 1 person that has bought a manual and now wishes he had the auto - he is not a wanker and nor am I so enough about the auto 'jokes' - not remotely funny. Each to his or her own choice I say. Just like the colours....
Anyone else seen or heard of high prices for the demo cars ?
Jeffneil
msydd 12-02-2003, 03:32 AM Jeffneil,
Great ! - My wife's family are from Ourimbah... so you'll probably see our Winning Blue around at some stage!

Actually I'll be doubly protected, because I'll have the car bra on too. Go on, you all laugh now (or is that cringe...), but that's cool because I'll be laughing too when I get to BrisVegas without a single new stone chip.
It'll be cool to catch up with the Brisbane Northside crew. See y'all soon.
My first post since ownership, which was last Friday. 2 days driving the northern beaches and north shore, sfa. Head for home Northern Tablelands pm Sunday and see my mirror image titanium approach on the Buckets Way just west of Pacific Hwy.
R U out there, othertitowner?
Hymee 12-02-2003, 04:24 PM Saw another Red one this morning - heading inbound on Coronation Drive at Graham Street intersection, 7:40 am. Got a wave. White/maroon plates, can't remember rego.
If your on here - cheers dude!
Hymee.
vafuncool 12-02-2003, 05:02 PM Spotted (many times) a winning blue driving on Geelong Road travelling towards Melbourne between 8am and 9am. Has personalised plates but can't make them out, travelling too fast. Anyone else seen it ?
Lock & Load 12-03-2003, 01:39 AM Having listened to our estimed moderator HYMEE i decided to be extra nice to my fellow rotary drivers well , i got snubbed twice by two rx7 , one in yellow , this smuck parked one car away from me , i gave him the big thums up and my best and friendliest smile and he bloody well snobbed me , it could not have been my B.O because i was sitting in my car , it was 6 am in the morning at the petrol station , then to add further insult i once again got snubbed by a second rx7 a dark silver one sheesh obviously not my day .
Hymee i have decided to go back to my old ways and not wave or give anyone the thumbs up unless they do it 1st , heck i dont mind being rejected by babes but by wankels in old rx7 , no way . and i am sorry but as far as i am concerned there should have never have produced an AUTOMATIC RX8 it stops the rx8 from getting street creed from fellow rx owners .
If you must drive an AUTOMATIC go buy a toyota camry or hyundia IMHO .
ID BE TO EMBARRASSED TOadmit to owning an AUTOMATIC RX8 .
Iexpect that the AUTORXFILES AMONGST YOU WILL BE UPSET AT READING MY POSTS regarding the autos but thats the way i see it , heck i would be seen dead in one.
MICHAEL
Saw Hymee turning left onto the bridge over the railway line at Albion on Monday morning. I was too busy playing with controls on the dash to notice anything but the tail end of an RX-8 turning left in front of me.
pricer01 12-04-2003, 06:15 AM saw a titanium on governor macquarie drive near Hume Highway at 6.30am but was too far to wave .. anyone here???

You too understimate them...
Are you sure you did not just contracting your middle extensor digitorum when you wave to them? ;)

Black 8 spotted at around 12:15 noon in North Sydney, comming of the bridge up pacific hwy turning right into Walker St. I was in my little blue mazda waving like a clown on a unicycle and got no responce at all - how rude - so if you're out there Mr Suited Up and driving a black RX8, next time at least raise your eyebrows - smarmy sod!
I recall the days I rode a bike, every other rider no matter where or when would do the old helmet nod or right hand royal wave.
I fear that the RX8 owner numbers are now filling up with dweebs and there's far too few of us out there now ( well, I guess we were early adopters right ) who really dig the car and others who do likewise - now it's just a comodity car - mores the pitty IMHO!
Next thing you know everyone will wake up from their Microsoft brainwashing and go buy the world's best computer in the form of the Apple PowerBook G4 15 or 19 inch! There's a scary thought!

The first, on the Pacific Hwy at North Sydney travelling towards the city at 8:15am; the second, on Northwood Rd at Wollstoncraft travelling towards Crows Nest. jeffneil 12-08-2003, 06:03 PM Greetings All,
Spotted a Winning Blue RX-8 on the Tuggerah Westfield roundabout last sunday afternoon at 3:40pm - it was heading west (presumable towards the F3 ramps) and I was heading east - not in our RX-8 though - it seems funny to finally see 'your' car coming towards you doesn't it ? I was in my other car as I don't take the RX-8 to Westfield (or any other shopping centre) carparks - especially in the busy shopping times.

timbo 12-09-2003, 06:06 PM Saw a Titanium on Burns Bay Rd Sydney yesterday - both of us travelling towards Chatswood. We stopped side by side at the River Rd lights and rolled down windows. Titanium exclaimed "how about this f*&^%n car! Have you ever driven anything that goes around corners like it?" To which I agreed, absolutely :D
Hymee 12-09-2003, 08:59 PM Saw a Velocity one this morning (7:30ish) on the Gateway heading north at Boondall. Red and white plates. Please identify...

takahashi 12-10-2003, 12:24 AM There is a titanium grey RX8 in my hospital. I don't know who that is and most of the residents and registrars does not. It has a sticker of a private hospital parking permit. I guess it belongs to one of the consultant.

takahashi 12-17-2003, 01:36 AM There is a Black RX8 in the Summit Apartment Block with rego RX1881. Who are you? We should meet up and fang cars sometimes as we live so close -- for now anyway?
Not an RX8 , but,
saw my former car on the way home tonight. Black 6 speed
2000 Celica with the same plates. Being driven by a middlish
aged woman (hard to tell with the dark window tint) IMPROPERLY.
I used to always give that car stick. The VVTI engine loved to be spanked and she was driving it sedately. I feel like stealing it for a while and taking it for a lash through the hills to make it feel better.
Choppy 12-17-2003, 06:26 PM I see one tease me every morning drive past my office at 9am Sirrus Road, Lane Cove Velocity red.
I get teased cause i dont get mine till mid feb :(
The guy actually might work just up the street i was told. Maybe when i get my baby we can head down to lane cove shops together for lunch :)

I sold my car (a DC2 Integra Type R) to an middle aged guys who calls me now and then to ask me questions - stupid one really. He loves the car, fixed all the dents and resprayed all minor scratches. Also realigned the car frame and put a new air filter in. Lucky Har Gao is being look after ( that is what I called my old car)
Hymee 12-17-2003, 10:30 PM "Har Gao" was the last one, what does than translate to?
So what is the '8 called?
Cheers,

takahashi 12-18-2003, 12:18 AM I used to have a Har Gao (Shrimp Dumpling) which was a white Integra Type R DC2 (lightweight ver.) with red Recardo seats.
Most of my friends have Yum Cha dishes named after their cars..
Compare to my friend also has a white Integra Type R RSX (DC5) also red Recardo inside - heavier and his car's name is Cha Siu Pao (Pork Bun)
Someone has a grey Boxster S look like Yue Chi Gao (shark fin dumpling) it is expensive dish as well!!!!
One friend has a Yellow MR2 which is a Dan Tat (Custard Tart) and how has a R34 GTR which is white with black leather so... Tong Yuen (Seasame balls - a Yum Cha desert)
A black 200SX with strange green tinge to the uphostery - his name is Pei Dan (preserved Duck eggs)
I have a black RX8 and I call it "Gee Ma Goun" - Seasame roll (black outside and red inside)
What we call ourselves? The
Yum Cha Club
takahashi 12-21-2003, 07:32 PM I have the first response from an RX-8 driver
On my way back just then on City Road Southbank. I was accelerating hard with DSC totally off ... 9000 rpm to 2nd gear I spotted a winning blue RX8 on the opposite side going to South Yarra.
We waved simutaneously to each other
It is a good feeling.
timbo 12-22-2003, 10:42 PM Saw another two today while in Sydney. The first, in Winning Blue with a rear wing, turning into car park out of Mount St at around 8:45 am
The second, a Velocity Red with 'EVOLV' plates travelling south on Pennant Hills Rd.
No, you didn't see me, cos I was in the wife's Calais, picking up elderly father for Christmas, Great looking cars tho
Hymee 12-23-2003, 01:53 AM At least you can chassis dyno the Calais with a quick push of the T/C button :(
Been there, done that!
timbo 12-23-2003, 11:14 PM Hmm, can I take the s/c off the Calais & drop it onto my 8? :D
Hymee 12-23-2003, 11:21 PM Oh - one of those calais, missing 2 cylinders ;)
timbo 12-23-2003, 11:27 PM Originally posted by Hymee

I keep looking for them, but I can't find them (esp when overtaking) ;)
Hymee 12-23-2003, 11:37 PM Now if that thing was a V8 with a blower, it would really fry the tyres!
Did you know the GMH/Buick V6 is from the same family (design) as the Buick/Oldsmobile/Pontiac alloy V8, then incarnated as the Rover/Range Rover/Leyland 3.5 and 4.4L V8? Somewhere in there it was also Jack Brabhams World Championship winning engine. And most recently cast in iron with 2 cylinders missing as the GM V6 and refined by Holden. If you put the block and heads of a P76 next to a 3.8L commodore engine, and you will know what I mean. Infact, the timing gears / chain are interchangeable!
Cheers,
Hymee.
Saw a black one on Rundle St this morning, I swung around it to go straight ahead as it was turning down towards the zoo.
Possibly AMG's?
Choppy 12-28-2003, 07:14 PM Saw a black one on Sat day in Terrigal on the main strip while i was holidaying :)
Regards
Phillip
During 3110 km journey to Melbourne and back, just 2 sightings: a red on expressway between Gosford and Sydney, and a black in Chapel St. Melb. Whereas must have seen at least 50 of those common little boxters.

Jaycee 12-30-2003, 03:43 AM Spotted a nice looking yellow 8 today - heading down the Pacific Highway from Artarmon to St Leonards. No response from the driver when I waved.
Spotted just before lunch today... a shiny Titanium with strakes, rotary accent, and a heap of body kit parked outside Energex on Charlotte St.
vafuncool 01-12-2004, 03:29 PM What's going on, haven't seen many 8s on the road this year !
Spotted Black 8 on City link near Dynon rd exit on 12/1/2004 around 5 PM.
Spotted Red 8 on the Tulla near Moreland rd exit on 13/1/2004 around 7:30 AM.
Happy New Year to you all !!!

takahashi 01-12-2004, 07:31 PM ic... you may be the one I see sometimes going to Chadstone from the city....?
I don't think I've done more than 100km since ~20th Dec 03 ... weather is too nice, just been hanging by the pool or beach.
So the 8's been a bit neglected :( - I've even left mods on the back burner. I haven't even fitted my front air dam and hymee grill!!!

timbo 01-16-2004, 04:38 AM Saw a Nordic Green one today at Canberra airport 11:30am. First time I have seen this colour, and I can see why it is, er, less popular. Meant to check if it was AT ;)

I am starting to see '8s up here on the road a little more regularly. None of them sound as good as Wildcards though ;)
Cheers,
Hymee.
Wildcard 01-16-2004, 05:10 PM Sorry, I didn't drive to Adelaide. I'm back in Newcastle now anyway.
aussie8 01-17-2004, 12:20 AM I saw a Red, Leather Pack with rear spoiler while in Darwin in Friday. Am guessing it was NT Rotorhead as there can't be too many up there yet. Car looked great and was turning heads all along Mitchell St.
three spottings today alone:
1st was a red zimmer machine zipping through north sydney around 9:15am
2nd was a black racer heading west along river road - no wave or such, why don't they wave * grin * - around 2:25pm
3rd was a black one again [ different plates ] heading east on river road - younger driver - small polite "hi" wave as I did my usual low level pass at mach 3 - around 5:20pm
have seen a lot of a siver granny mobile around spofforth street shops recently, passing through by the looks on the way home in the evenings, rude buggers though, no hi even after I parked behind them in the blue flying machine and did my "shit, imagine bumping into you here" and my best rx8 owners grin - sigh..
more and more of the great unwashed masses are now buying rx8's it seems - pitty.

Spotted today:

vafuncool 01-22-2004, 05:19 PM Spotted Vel red 8 today around 9.15am turning right into Flinders St from Batman Ave, could it be mboptom ?
takahashi 01-22-2004, 10:04 PM Well I saw a red one going away from the city in the SE Freeway today @ around 1200 ... would that be him too?
emack 01-22-2004, 10:33 PM Use the Tunnel every morning and the Bridge every night and have only seen one black and one silver on the rode since I moved north side in August.
That's besides Ric Shaw's which I've seen quite a bit. He has Red with the factory spolier kit and this nice set of ROH three piece mags.
Don't know how I haven't spotted you yet Dez?!

> Don't know how I haven't spotted you yet Dez?!
I'm not in the city as much these days, we moved our head offices to North Sydney, and if I'm in the city, it's usually a quick zip over the bridge and into secure parking at 76 pitt st ( data centre or 20 bridge st ( also data centre ) where I know the car's bomb proof safe * grin *
++dez;
ps: but I'm clocking serious milage back and forth between western and northern regions of late - usually at "curious" speeds too - an not a single speeding ticket yet ?! weird !!
mboptom 01-27-2004, 05:59 AM gedday vafunccol and tokahashi, nah not me on fri 23rd, not anywhere in city that day.
Look for the roman numerals number plates - that be me!
Vel red spotted today about 9.00am, in Riversdale Rd Hawthorn, driving east and crossing Auburn Rd. I was just walking up to my red 8 parked on street and if you saw me, were probably wondering " why is that guy smiling at me" and " why is he heading for that other red 8??"
vafuncool 01-27-2004, 05:42 PM I saw a vel red 8 driving down Camberwell Rd, Camberwell just after 9AM yesterday, could of been the same one. Had personalised plates that ended with an 8.
kiwimeat 01-27-2004, 08:52 PM Saw 3 RX-8's on the road this morning in Brisbane
Silver AT (I know 'cause I looked in last time it was stopped at local shops) which lives just round the corner from my house but the lady driver doesn't acknowledge anyone.
Down in Milton on Castlemaine St (damn road works) a Black RX-8. Older male driver with the straight ahead stare.
On Coronation Drive, Red RX-8. Driver gave a small smile and acknowledged my admiring glances and thumbs up whilst stationary at lights.
Generally see a couple each week, excluding the local Silver AT. Still waiting to see a Ligthning Yellow in real life.
I know I'm only a lowly SP20 driver atm, but hey I'm only saying/thinking nice things about the car I want to own sooner than I will, so a polite smile would be isn't too much to ask is it, and a full on smirk will tell me that someone is really having fun.
takahashi 01-28-2004, 03:03 AM Met a RX-8 silver. let's say named "GMS"
We were at the Jim Murcott's driving course that Mazda threw in for us

mboptom 01-28-2004, 06:26 AM spotted a blue 8 on lwr Heidelberg Rd, Heidelberg this afternoon about 5pm. Waved hello, smiled and pulled up beside me and chatted! Had about 10000km on it and loves it.
timbo 01-28-2004, 03:55 PM Black 8 travelling towards Crows Nest on River Road at 8:15am this morning. I waved...
labrat 01-28-2004, 06:51 PM Got a wave from a red one in Grenoble St. The Gap Q. 29/01 0655h. I was on my road bike doing my morning constitutional.

Did you recruit him to the rx8club? I think everyone of us should do this. This is a fun site.
mboptom 01-29-2004, 02:12 AM no, didn't get much time, lights turned green and we were already holding up mega traffic - funny no one blasted their horn at us, probably in shock at seeing two 8's next to each other at the front of the line (where else would they be?)
takahashi 01-29-2004, 02:54 AM Yeah... saw another one today with a new rego plate (titanium grey going at Monash Freeway towards Dandenong/Warragul.
I was not in my RX-8 (for once) so he did not spotted me
So I did not give the details of this site either. I was wearing the cap though :P
mboptom 01-29-2004, 03:01 AM Nice cap takahashi, "where do ya get it?"
And how do you put that pic there under your name??
mboptom 01-29-2004, 03:12 AM wow! I've just looked at your web site - very cool!
I won't even begin to ask how you did all that...I loved your reports on the test drives of the other cars.
Now I know what your 8 looks like I'll keep a watch out for you. You must be around my area a fair bit, I drive to Dandenong dayly from Glen Iris.
takahashi 01-29-2004, 03:48 AM Hey.... I will see you more in the weekends.
I live in Berwick now. Travelling in a Camry to Taralgon to work. It is ok. I love driving.
Website thanks for your kind comment, my wife like that too only when I stop designing it ... I love designing website. step-hen.com has been my personal site for years. This is the new .... fourth version. I am now planning to do once a year revision. I learn all my skill from sites, reading books in Boarder's, testing. As I am more into flash now. Next one - you guest it will be flash.
Then again all my kids will be in trouble. They will have a site set up my his old man and hopefully continue on as a life journey.
Cost? How about US$19 per month. 4 pack of cigarrette or something. I don't smoke so there you go!

Cap I got it in Southland - custom made in one of the Kiosk. If you want one then I can tell you how. There is a RX-8 logo
The picture is an avatar - go to user/cp and edit your profile. Upload your customised avatar and there it is!
I also P/M you check user/cp on the top

mboptom 01-30-2004, 01:35 AM vel red 8 spotted today at 8.45am going south on Bourke Rd, just at Monash freeway entrance. I turned in front of you & nearly missed spotting you but managed a quick wave as I flew round corner.
Just back home after 3 days driving Sydney's north, east and inner-west suburbs, the only 8 I saw was Ric Shaw's, outside his works. (What a friendly, obliging, knowledgeable fellow he is.)
Then lo and behold, near home and 350 km from Sydney, a winning blue near Nowendoc on the Bucket's Way, heavily camouflaged in a bra. that was at 4.45 thisafternoon.
NickG 02-01-2004, 03:34 PM Just picked up my red 8 last Thursday. Spotted Velocity Red near McCarr's creek in Kuringai Chase National Park Sunday pm. Flashed my lights and got a wave in reply . Anyone owning up?
Friend of friend just got a Ti 8 late last week, saw it at Collaroy Plateau when I was registering for soccer.

Choppy 02-09-2004, 05:47 PM So many people are rude..
i was driving down to the datacenter in north ryde with the van ( cant fit servers in the back of the 8) ;) i stopped right next to a yellow, i said " Its a mighty fine car, to look at and to drive " The reply i got was ' How would you know how it feels to drive. I replied with " I own one " He replied " You wish " and took off.
I do not hesitate to talk to anyone that asks me about the car, this and that, instead of acting like a too cooool for school tool like some others.
Sorry guys just needed to fume alittle :)

Choppy remember those number plates.
And 1 day when you are in your 8 you will find yourself next to him at a set of lights and when that day comes the rest is history.

Gomez 02-10-2004, 04:58 AM Thanks for the welcome....Actually, I have yet to decide on a colour....Just reporting a sighting of a blue one :) ....Sorry L+L , won't be a yellow one!!!
I have narrowed the choice down to Red, Titanium or Blue...
Gomez.
Hymee 02-10-2004, 05:00 AM They are my favourite colours. I get lots of comments from people when they get a little closer to my car out in the sun, on how vivid the metalic is in the red. Almost like a ski-boat.
And I have seen the Hymee Catback on Titanium and Red :D
Cheers,
Hymee.
RXE16T 02-10-2004, 05:04 AM My bad!

RXE16T 02-10-2004, 05:38 AM Yeah, but BOSE and Xenon should be in every car. :)
jeffneil 02-10-2004, 06:04 AM Greetings All,
Saw a Winning Blue RX-8 at Kensington, Sydney at lunchtime today - it had every extra imaginable on it by the look of it - spoilers, skirts, chrome fuel cap etc etc. Looked fantastic as all Winning Blue examples do - especially ours :-) - we *never* get tired of looking at it or driving it (even though it is the -gasp- auto !!) - and lots of people on the road that have a good look must also agree !
So to anyone who is ordering a Winning Blue 8 - congratulations - great choice. Unfortunately for us though, Mazda has just released the '3' range which is now available in Winning Blue - there goes our exclusivity - we've now caught up with the rest of the colours - except for the Yellow - as the rest are available on other models already as far as I know.
We'll be one of the few RX-8s in Tasmania in March as we take a 2 week tour around the place - might even see another Winning Blue down ther maybe - anyone know of any in Tassie ?
Regards
Jeffneil
RXE16T 02-10-2004, 06:12 AM I still haven't seen another one (apart from mine) in Sydney let alone in Tassie.

Mostly "FULLY SICK" Wrx's around my area and the occasional S6 RX7 in hot pink or something equally tasteful. :P
Have seen more 350z's lately, but could be the same car with a "change" of paintwork and plates (wink, wink).

And don't do it while posting. Remember, we don't, by definition, like reciprocating action :p
