View Full Version : Why I love my Blizzaks!
The Chad 02-07-2008, 07:42 AM So this morning I went to leave for work at 6am and was stuck waiting to get out of our private complex because a neighbor up the street had gotten stuck in his big SUV blocking both lanes (and the only way out). While 3 of us helped push the guy out we found out that his 4 wheel drive wasn't working  Idiot!!!
So now we have 4 cars behind this SUV waiting to get out as well - and they all need help getting out too. Well after we cleared out the cars I got in my RX-8 and started up the incline out to Yonge Street. Of course a small Nissan was in front of me and got stuck as well......arrrghhh. At this point I just said fuck it and went around the guy and made it out no problem.
I really love when I pull up to a light and someone pulls into the right lane thinking they can just pass me when the light turns green and quickly merge in front of me. I have to laugh when I actually get going faster than they do
Why don't people in the GTA get winter tires??? It kills me every winter when I have to deal with people driving on their no-season tires.
End rant :)
spd frk 02-07-2008, 08:19 AM I see the same thing a lot. I run Wintersport M3's, but often people try to pass me or get around at lights using all seasons. Guess they don't like careful drivers.
Although I had to leave me car at home today. They haven't plowed my street in stouffville and teh snow was so high it was hitting the bottom of my truck when I left. We must have 30cm sitting in the street.
Footman 02-07-2008, 08:55 AM I made the 36 km journey from Scarborough to Vaughan to work. I have Wintersport M3's as well, and I put on a very nice show for all the audiences at the intersection when I power-slide the snow with a good 45 degree angle on left and right turns. DSC is off of course! LOL so fun I tell you guys.. really fun!
and yes.. they assume sports cars are gonna be slow cause I'm RWD, and they're FWD/AWD... I just blow right past them at the light!
I have faith in my blizzaks, i definately think they are the best winters out there!
zerobio 02-07-2008, 09:38 AM I'm very satisfied with how the 8 is performing with blizzaks this (my first) winter.
People will never understand why having winter tires is mandatory.
Some people come up with the excuse that they live in a apartment building and have no where to store an extra set of tires.
Other people are just lazy or too cheap to buy the extra set.
This morning the snow was rather high coming out of my neighbourhood.
Attempting leave was funny. Passed 4 cars who got stuck trying to get out of their own street because the plows went through the main street but not theirs.
I just motored along using my blizzaks!
As the saying goes, you get what you pay for!
boffam 02-07-2008, 04:40 PM I *barely* made it off our unplowed street this morning...I had to go forwards, then back, then forwards again until I had plowed a long enough furrow for me to reach escape velocity. I was revving mercilessly...my wife finally got to hear the beep. :spank: Then a neighbour got stuck leaving her driveway, giving me only an RX-8-wide path...can't slow down I'm coming through!!!!
But now my car sounds weird. :icon_no2: http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=137441

That was the worst thing you could do. Never spin the tires when driving in snow unless for recreation.
boffam 02-07-2008, 04:56 PM ^Well I was having fun. :eyetwitch
prospectjtaz 02-07-2008, 05:17 PM I love my Dunlop Graspics, they pretty much cut throught anything. I'm glad I haven't put my springs on yet.
Leesha 02-07-2008, 07:52 PM Dunlop Sport Performance 3D's Rock!!

They always think the City of Toronto will plow and salt the roads RIGHT away. Suckers now they're trying to cut back on salt they don't even salt small streets.
Having winter tires is a must in Canada. I think these two or three snow storms will teach them a good lesson.
I have a Subaru AWD and I put snow tires on, and just as Footman said, its fun when you powerslide out of turns under control, of course not too fast!

MyRXdrug 02-08-2008, 10:44 AM ugghh I got stuck 2 days ago with my Graspics. But it wasn't the tires' fault. I followed this truck into a left turn. Well it's a subdivision that isn't even completed yet with no plowing. I almost made it through till I got sideways and stuck. Had to get pulled by a truck. BTW, is there a place where we can hook on to in the front? I only remember the rear hook.
dozer 02-08-2008, 10:50 AM i guess im lucky i live in southern california, and only once in my life time have i experienced snow,....my get costly having to by different tires....i only buy summer tires and keep em on all year....
boffam 02-08-2008, 10:58 AM ^ Your tires don't wear when they are off the car. :naughty: I did invest $500 in cheap alloys and $50 in a good jack.
dozer 02-08-2008, 11:02 AM ^hmmmm never thought of it that way, only because i dont need too...

You should get a tow hook that comes with your car, and you can screw it on right behind the mesh of the front bumper~ I believe there's a cap you gotta take off... I haven't look at my front bumper for a while but ya that's where it is...
MyRXdrug 02-08-2008, 11:53 AM i used the tow hook and attached it to the rear. Funny thing is I only got 1 tow hook from Mazda.
I couldn't find the front end one but I didn't look behind the mesh.
Thank you,
