View Full Version : Condensation in tail lights
M Theory: Code Red 02-04-2008, 06:35 PM When I was shopping around for my 8 I noticed that some of the 8's I looked at had one or even both of the tail lights had condensation built up on the inside of the housing. The car I ended up buying didn't and yet now I am seeing some starting to happen inside one of my tails. Does anyone else have this problem or better yet a remedy to fix/prevent this from happening again in the future?? :banghead:
j67345 02-04-2008, 06:38 PM Bring it to the dealer and have them replace the lights if you're under warranty. If not, hit ebay up, or you can drill holes in them. Definitely do a search for this problem....there are many threads about it.
Jedi54 02-04-2008, 06:39 PM hey M Theory, welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear about the condensation the tail lights; it's actually been an issue for some of us here.
It is a known issue for Mazda so if you let your dealership know, I'm sure they'll take care of it. Just make sure you swing by the dealership when there's actually moisture in there or they might ask you to come back.
P.S. If you need help with anything else, I'd suggest using the Search button towards the top of the screen, there's a TON of great information on this site. If you don't find what you're looking for, let us know and we'll do our best to get you on the right track.

Damn it !
Sunlight_Silver_RX8 02-04-2008, 07:03 PM The 8 I bought had condensation in both tail lights, the dealer replaced both of them while I was finishing the paperwork on the sale.
HiTMaNN 02-04-2008, 07:07 PM You all fail. There is a DIY on how to remove the Condensation out of the Tail lights takes 15 minutes tops.

I spend enough time modd'ing my car. Last thing I want to do is fix something that the dealership can do for FREE. :) Mine weren't repaired, I got two brand new taillights.
Be nice to your service guys, a box of bagels from time to time goes a LONG way.
Razz1 02-04-2008, 08:00 PM Welcome to the club.
Get the dealer to fix it. There is a TSB.
valpac 02-04-2008, 08:07 PM Dealers will replace the lenses or dry inside and replace gasket per the TSB. BTW, the service bulletin looks pretty easy if you are outta warranty.

Just started having the exact same problem this week on my 2006. Taking it in on Thursday to have them fix it. TSB # on this issue is Bulletin No: 09-014/07
mmats69 02-06-2008, 01:10 AM I had it fixed under the TSB and had the condensation come up again about a year later in the new ones. It's something the new owner will have to deal with.
