Endymion. We'll be on Orleans Avenue, about 3 blocks from City Park Avenue. I think we'll also go to Bacchus, but I don't know the definite plans. I'm sure someone we know has a condo or apartment on the route.

Well, I should get the 8 back tomorrow. Keith said the mechanic had finished swapping out all of the parts that need to be swapped around 4PM today. Hopefully I get it back tomorrow. Actually, I wouldn't mind thursday, as I need to lug a few things around wednesday evening.

I didn't get the 8 back yesterday. :( Sucks is that today I'll have another hell day at work and I'm not sure I can get it today.

I'm supposed to get it back tomorrow. I guess we'll see. Today Keith drove it and the front end wasn't aligned, so he brought it to a shop. I'm not holding my breath. hehe, The alignment shop will probably get backed up.

lol don't feel bad.....I braught my car to paretti monday *i had made an appointment*...for 3 things.

#1. to get my smart keys fixed *yea smart keys are cool, but they suck at the same time.*
#2. i need an allignment since i lowered the car
#3. needed an oil change, might as well do it since the car was gonna be there anyway.

So i bring the car in, *we were doing some work on the showroom up front*. after a couple hours they finally start to work on it. The asshole *Don, the mazdaspeed technician* comes up front and asks me to come to the back and look at something.......So i go back there and he starts talking shit about the car being lowered, and tries to act like he is the rx8 god and tells me i should raise it back to stock because it will handle better, etc *load of bull* and it was obvious i know more about performance than he does........Anyway, he tells me the car is to low to get on the lift, and he procedes to show me where its scraping. While sitting on the lift ramp, *which it was barely bottomed out at all, not even enough to do any damage.* and he asks me (do u want me to back it up a little and run it up the ramp *he was barely giving it enough gas to keep it from killing, infact it killed on him once cause he didn't give it enough*) and i told him, *afte rlooking under it and at it* "Yes, its ok go for it, its not bottomed out enough to damage anything, and if u want i will go get two 2x4's from my truck and make it fast and easy". And he looks at me and goes (I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS PIECE OF SHIT) and backs my car off the ramp, parks it, and get out and starts talking more bullshit.......I went back up front PISSED AS ALL HELL

So, in the end, my keys got fixed and/or replaced, my oil got changed, and my car still needs a freaking allignment and camber adjustment.......

PS. he also tried to tell me some bullshit about it being better for my car to have the 2 inches of tire touching the road *the stock camber position* than it would be if i had him set it to 0 camber *the whole tire touching the ground*.......what a fucking moron.....

Man u guys dealer trips on have aftermarket intakes. I have one an the RP supercat an they never say crap about them everytime I take my car in. They just go right ahead an start working on the car. I left the bracket that I use to hold up the front part of my intake loose on purpose just to see if they would fix it. When I got the car home pop the hood and they fix it plus they added some strap thingy to keep it in place. Nice

The 8 is fine, except for the steering. There's a tiny bit of play in the steering wheel and I'm waiting to get a chance to bring it in.

You purchase a fine car devin. Best advice I can give you is to check your oil regularly and when you start it up let the engine warm up for five minutes before turning it off. So you won't flood the engine (won't startup) search the forums cuz its your biggest friend here.

So I was driving down Military Road the other day in Slidell, when I passed a Yellow RX-8 being driven by a super hot chick... it was love at first site.

Well we have to wait tnl easter is over to get prices...cause prices are inflated big time for easter weekend. I think we should invite the 7 boys, and any other mazda owners as well. Fontainblue has a pretty nice setup. Its a pavilion and theres plenty of parking, but you have to pre reserver it. So we need a date. If not, i have a big yard with, tons of space *6 acres worth*, and have had meets from other car sites before so thats cool.

Well....it's the f'ing oil metering pump again.... Now I don't know what to do. They replaced it about 5-6 months ago for me. Thing is, is was replaced for me out of warranty (by about 1500 miles) I'm just hoping they will replace it again since it was it replaced only 5 months ago or so....
I don't want to be a dick to them at the dealership since they were really cool and did the job for me in the first place out of warranty, but should the part carry some kind of warranty?

Brian Harris in Slidell are the ones that replaced it for me originally. They have always been really cool with me, hell, they replaced it a little after my warranty ran out. I am just hoping that they will still replace it again....

Yeah....like I said, they replaced it out of warranty for me (out by 1500 miles). I'm just hoping since the part it not even 6 months old they will hook me up again. They have always been good to me. I want to know because it will determine what I'm doing with the car. I don't want to have a 3rd oil leak fixed, I will just trade it in. I have to bring it in tomorrow for Trans / Rear Diff flush. I also need spark plugs/wires, but I know I can do that myself easily. I don't want to pay for all this if I'm just going to trade it in.

I'm engaging in an experiment with the 8 for this tank of gas. I'm trying my best not to go above 4K rpms. It's very difficult. But let's see if gas mileage improves since gas is now $3.37/gal and rising.

eh it might increase miallage but its not good for your engine to always rev that low......ZZzzz

I redline it once per drive when the engine heats up. I'm trying to increase mileage. 12mpg is not making me happy at these gas prices. It's more of an "I'm not giving these greedy ass oil companies more money in addition to the tax breaks (that should be repealed)!!!"

lol 4K I try to do that once for the first few miles I drove it like that then all these slow ass people start getting in my way I started to get frustrated an so use to getting to my destinations more faster. Was trying to keep it at 4k but then all of a sudden redline baby an back at the pump end of story.

Dam high as gas it like $3.56 a gal down here an maybe a little more in oher areas. I haven't drove my 8 since 3 days now but I go outside every morning an let it warmup an rev it to like 5k to keep it right.

Right now my new CBR600RR has my attention. seeing as I'm paying $4.15 for a gallon of gas the 8 is my weekend whip/date mobile right now.

Haven't been around much since the low turnout at LFM2.

I feel your pain on the gas price. I just bought a used civic, to get that 40mpg plus the ability to use low octane gas.

Unfortuatly I make the gasoline and still don't get a break on that $4 a gallon.

BTW, anyone interested in a set of Plasma Coils. The have only about 5k miles on them and work great. The multispark really makes for smooth acceleration, and install is a POC, since they fit just like the OEM Coils.

I'm also thinking of getting rid of my AccessPort. I really can't take full advantage of it with the mellow mods I've done. It is pretty slick, and adds about as much power as the Racing Beat Flash, but without going turbo or a serious exhaust, it just isn't worth it to me. (It's nice to not be bugged by the CEL for the rear O2 though)

i got a letter from Mazda North America today. (pimps)

Apparently, they're starting a new program and extending warranties on rotary engines for years 2004-2008 to 100,000 miles, and my car was included.

I just wanted to give props to Mazda. I follow the economy somewhat closely, and as many of you probably know, the economy isn't kicking ass right now. The car companies are losing sales left and right, and I thought it was awesome for Mazda to go out of their way to hook up the warranty out of the blue.

Maybe I live under a rock, smoke too m.. i mean, maybe everybody knows about this, but I never heard one single thing about it. I did hear they extended the warranties for the powertrain to 60,000, but never the motor..

Anyway, that's it.. everyone keep pimpin

Thing is Mazda is Japanese and there economy is better then ours so I'm guessing that is why they can offer the warranty to us. I'm gonna try and get it if I can come up with the funds.

Second f'ing day/night I have it, some 16 year old kid pulls out of a u-turn on W. Esplanade and cuts me off. I pretty much anticipated it because he almost pulled out on the bike ahead of me. I almost managed to get the bike stopped, but the kid took a right turn onto a side street. I locked up the rear wheel, took the turn with him, but couldn't turn sharp enough so I made the turn while pretty much leaning on his car. He panics, turns away from me and I fall.

I had to be going only about 5mpg when I went down. Lost my rear view mirrors, handle bars are slightly bent, clutch lever is broke (about 1/3 of it snapped off), crankcase cover is scratched, fairing is scrathed, cowl is scratched, and I have some really nice road rash on my left arm and left knee. I didn't break any body parts, so I'm happy about that.

The kid's whole family rides bikes, so I think he's freaked and probably catching a lot of flack from his family. His dad told me to get an estimate and he'll pay to have the bike fixed. I just need to either get some mirrors so I can get it to a dealership to get an estimate, or take it apart and figure out everything that needs to be replaced. Oh...and I'm a little hesitant to take it out on the road right now, for obvious reasons.

i have like 60k miles, and my headlights have had this film since at least 30k miles.. i'm just now hearing about some type of recall, and on top of it, i just noticed WATER LEAKING INTO MY DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT

Looks like you got a crack in the plastic seam in the headlight which is causing it. I heard a few people getting it replace under warranty.

yeah, i just observed the shit out of it and blasted water on it and apparently no more water is creeping in..

if you take out your bright light bulb, you can obviously access the innerheadlight that way.. i took a coat hanger and applied a microfiber rag and got a lil down and dirty.. i do see some straight line minor ass looking notches... no cracks

i'm thinking about taking the fucking headlight out and applying some liquid cement around that biatch

well, at night with the lights on, you can see a film of yellowish stuff on the inside. it's been like that since i got the car basically, and is uncleanable.

now water is leaking in from apparently no where.

No. You should of took it in when it first happen. If the dealer where you go to is the one where you get all your services done is real cool or your cool with one of the service guys back there. They may let you slide an get it replace. Thats all I can give you dude. Good luck.

FYI, if it was just the yellow tint, I have a cleaning solution....or rather had, a bottle or cleaning solution, that u have to rub on for like 5-10mins, and it would draw the yellow stuff through the pores of the plastic.....i had to do it on the work truck once.

Well, to finally answer rxh8ted's question, I have the same warranty as everybody else.. so I'm guessing my car isn't under warranty lol.

Instead of buying a new headlight without xenon bulbs and exchanging mine, and instead of paying 600+ for a new headlight, I've decided to seriously superglue the light.

There is no possible place it could be leaking other than where the plastic lens meets with the rubber seal, sort of on the top right corner of the light. I'm going to apply a thin layer of sealant in the crack of the seal and plastic and hope for the best...

Yay!!! I got my ceiling textured today. Now I have to paint it.

And, no...I did not sneeze and have paint residue blown onto the ceiling.

In other news, Mazda is warrantying my steering column. A plactic shim moved out of place and I have a bunch of play in the steering wheel. I'm waiting to find out when I have to bring it in.

And I can't wait to get an R3. I'm thinking of getting one around next March, but I may see if I can hold off a couple of months to see what the 2010s look like.

And I've been having fun on the suzuki. Got some riding in this weekend. 60mpg is really nice for short errands and stuff.

sounds great. Has a slight leak in the back flange cause the seal looks to be pretty burnt. but thats an extremely minor fix.

ok i did research and found out what it was.It says u gotta remove front bumper and i kinda dont want to mess with it. Does it imrpove any?

Also, the only intakes for the 8 that don't require the removal of the front bumber, are the K&N drop in filter *which does nothing*, and the HKS racing suction *which if your not in a full race setup i wouldn't spend the extra money*

Alright, i'm the certified rx8 headlight master now.

if your headlight is ever going to leak, i have a pretty good idea where it will be coming from. when i open my hood, there is a slight portion of the headlight that is exposed underneath the actual hood. There is an exposed seal, which on my headlights, looks like some black glue or something.

Anyway, on both headlights, the portion of the seal that is exposed underneath the hood looks cracked and chipped. I applied a seal to the driver side headlight and no more fogging or water entry for 4 days+.. includes washing the car too.

As far as how to dry your headlight out if you get water in it, simply take out your bright bulb, leave your hood open on a dry day, and it will typically dry itself.

As far as the visible seal around the headlight that touches the fenders, it looks virtually impossible to leak from that area unless cracked. It looks like, from the condition of BOTH of my headlights, that the exposed seal underneath the hood where water enters through the crack of the hood and fender is the problem area.

I know, I helped everybody.

Well, Keith warrantied my steering column issue and I have a new steering column. A plastic bearing had come out of place and the steering wheel had about 3 inches of play, UP AND DOWN, and there was a big dead spot when turning the wheel.

Much better now. The part that was broken was non-serviceable.

I'm not trying to jinx you. I'm bragging about my "frequent warranty claim" card that recently expired. 51,100 miles, 3rd engine, 2nd tranny, 2nd steering column, 2nd set of taillights, etc.

Seals Gone bad..Lost of alot of power.. Mazda replaces it... If u get it asked them to check on the history of the car and see if it would have had a new engine installed in it.. If not tell them that u have heard a few of them with motors going out in them with around ... I heard 40k ... to 60k miles on them.. Then they would let u know if they could replace it if it goes out.. My new motor and exhaust if im not mistaken has 100 k miles warranty on it. The cat got stopped up on mine too. Find out how many miles is the engine and other parts of the vehicle is warranty to, such as exhaust, suspension.etc..It helps to know this alot.:eyetwitch

So I'm hanging ceiling fans tonight. Yes, close to finished painting. I should have an 8 party here. Let's shoot for November, possibly earlier. I'd prefer burgers instead of a boil. Anyways...

So I go the discount zone close to my house to get 9v battieries for the remote control fan (hate remote control fans) since it's the only thing open.

Some guy in a del sol wants to run. He has an si del sol. Impressive.

It was not worth wasting my $3.83/gal gas. Or was it? He took off all squealing and I thought about dumping the clutch, but I was restrained (since I had a couple of cocktails in me).

I'm more than happy to host a meet as soon as I can get this place finished. I'm getting close. Still hanging fans tonight. Last night was a bitch. Hole for ceiling box was too big, so I stopped in one room so I could get some ceiling medallions today. Then I had to paint them.

R/C fans are just annoying. You have to fit the Rx in the fan support, so it's a pain getting the wires stuffed into the box properly. Last night I just kind of gave up. And then I did a lot of shopping this weekend to take advantage of the sales tax holiday. So now I have a shitload of stuff to install/put together, etc.

Less than a year until I get an R3. ;p

A del sol cut me off one time and all u heard was his foot in it and the loud exhaust. but to me it was like one of them matrix scenes. its like slow mo and im like waiting for his car to take on off and pull ahead of mine. but it didnt. all he done was pollute the front of mine with exhaust. I should have passed him back but i didnt

Well I talk to the service guy over the phone an they try to pull a fast one on me an try to void my warrenty cuz I had the RP Super cat on. Telling me that could be the reason why my engine was failing. Told me they put in the computer that I had that mod on my car. Talking about I had to come up with 5k for the engine. I was mad ass hell. I was going to go incredible hulk on his as but I cooled down an waited until I went down there. So anyway soon as I open the door service guy tells me. Ok heres the deal we took that stuff about your car having that mod out of the system. Told me put the stock cat back on see how it runs if it stills runs the same bring it back an we can do more test. And if you need an engine we will replace it. I find that kind of odd besides the serious lag an no power below5k my engine seems to be ok I mean all I may need is new coil packs. I know I'm been over due. RX-8 coils don't last very long. Engine never stall or anything just feels kinda sluggish. I think the the dealer was trying to get over by saying I need a new engine say engine has low compression but wanted to do more test (check an see if I have any after market parts an blame it on them) then get a phone call saying we are going to void your warrenty cuz you have an after market part on an its damaging your engine now pay us 5k. Probably fearing that I was going to go over their heads an call North American Mazda. Hmmm change their minds an seeing that I have I nice history of bringing my car to them for some type of defect I had with it (no mods then an still had problems) I got my service sheet from them before I left you know the one where they show what all they done to the car.Theres no where on that sheet where it said they did a compresson check. I think its all BS. I'll put the stock cat back on an bring it back to them but I wouldn't be suprise if they told me all I need was new coil packs.

no power under 5k? sounds like 1 of 2 things.....
1. your cats are clogged up....and since u have rp supercat i doubt it.....
or 2. one of your rotors is starting to slip on the essentric shaft...which is a major problem.....

So I just might need a new engine then.
