Well the title explains it, I have a Bose system with non-Bose head unit. The system works and actually sounds great to me maybe that’s why I never noticed it ... lol; However, I do get cell phone buzz in the speakers when someone calls. After reading these forums I figured out that this was my problem. Warranty has expired so I'm looking for a quick fix or perhaps a reference so that I can purchase the BOSE Head unit.

I'm PRETTY sure there isn't much difference if any between the bose and non bose HU - the only thing i can think of it the EQ settings and stuff

but i bet you have the bose HU and just don't know it because there isn't any real noticable difference between the 2

but to answer your question about the cell phone buzz - thats your cell phones fault.. not the HU.. move your phone away from the HU.. thats the only option... or get a phone that doesn't do it that bad (i found blackberry and iphone are the worst about that)

it's caused by the transmitter in the phone turning on and off really fast - the amps in electronics that aren't shielded pick it up somehow and then amplify it..

Oh yeah - and don't bother with the "Blows" system anymore... scrap it and go aftermarket... you'll be alot happier with it. I promise.

Can I just replace the BOSE amp in my trunk or do I have to replace the amp and speakers? (not something I want to do anytime soon)

When I go to the settings in the HU it has the ALC setting and not AutoPLT setting. According to the manual this is not the BOSE head unit.

Oh btw my girlfriend has a fetish for switching phones so I have tried at least 5 different phones and I still get the intermittent buzz no matter where I put them in the car.
