View Full Version : A Ricey Issue: LED Underglow Kit
PSTNLSS 01-04-2008, 06:45 PM To some this mod will sweet and hot
To others it will be a disgrace to the RX8 Nation
To those who call it rice I apologize
I bought an OPTX Multicolor LED underglow kit by streetglow from my friend who only used his about 5 times in 6months. I got it for about 100-150 dollars cheaper then brand new. Works Excellent so far.
Only one picture of it so far. Vids and Other pics of colors and themes to come.
chrism 01-04-2008, 06:48 PM not terrible.....get a tripod or a better camera though
Juice 01-04-2008, 06:49 PM I don't mind the neons/led underglow stuff. As long as you can't see the light source and you don't drive around with it on:spank: . It looks good if you are going for that show car look.
PSTNLSS 01-04-2008, 06:52 PM My wiring is pretty decent. I am looking for a better digital camera. My current one does not understand how to take pictures at night.
Easy_E1 01-04-2008, 06:52 PM In a Show it has it's place. On the street driving,, no.
Leesha 01-04-2008, 06:56 PM Love it!

perks11 01-04-2008, 06:58 PM think it looks nice, but i agree dont drive around the street with them on looks stupid, and your already driving an 8 you dont need more attention from the cops for some neons

Agreed, it looks stupid driving with them on. Also it is illegal pretty much everywhere. As well as it being distracting to other drivers which increases the odds of accidents that could happen around you and your nice car.

My cheap little Sony DSC-W35 has a great night shot feature.
WoodsOfGreenRx8 01-04-2008, 08:04 PM Not bad Jedi! Like the looks of them as long as you cant see where the light is coming from, IE: You see the tube zip tied to the bottom of the car from the side as you drive by.. ACK!
TopGear8 01-04-2008, 08:07 PM My brother has a LED underglow kit in his car. I think it adds a nice touch.
ps. nice license plate.
NgoRX8 01-04-2008, 08:11 PM i wouldn't do it, but just don't show them off excessively.
chancejat 01-04-2008, 08:39 PM 100% rice imo...........i wonder who was the first one with the idea to put neons under there car......
Razz1 01-04-2008, 08:57 PM They don't call him the Rice Master for notheing.
Him and his light saber terrorizes half of Souther California.

interesting........wasnt expecting an answer...cool though...so did he say if they were hondas?
ivory8 01-05-2008, 01:46 AM very nice, but i agree with everyone...there is a place/time....show it off but just don't use it on the street
(also in Nevada its illegal to have red/blue lights on while driving so you don't imitate the cops...i'd check into that)
edit: jedi! do u have leds in your wheel well? if so can u take more up close pics so i can see the isntallation or give me a link to a thread with them? im very curious atm.

I had these on my Civic back in 1998 and they were out way before that, so I think not. Also StreetGlow was founded in the early 1990's and they weren't the first company for neon lights on cars.
perks11 01-05-2008, 01:36 PM i like them, but with a lowered 8 with a body kit, i would worry about breaking/cracking them, as it seems that every little bump i go over i bottom out.
Jedi54 01-05-2008, 01:45 PM FYI: the pics I posted above are NOT of MY car. (since I've been bombarded by PM's)
Throwdown 01-05-2008, 02:04 PM I switched out all my interior lights to red leds and I ordered a set of puddle lights. I plan on buying some ground effects and wiring them to light up when I open the doors.
ivory8 01-05-2008, 07:44 PM thx for the link easy_E1
i guess its to all thier own, personally i like the look of it when its alot of light, when its really dim and u can bearly see it i don't see the point.
