View Full Version : Sydney Cruise - Sunday 10 February 2008
Revolver 12-03-2007, 02:12 PM There will be a cruise for all Sydney RX8ers on Sunday 10 February.
General plan is to cruise down to Wollongong via Royal National Park for lunch with north and south meetup points. Any south coasters/ACTers who wish to come along and meet up with us at Wollongong are more than welcome.
1st Meetup Point - 9.00am for 9.15 sharp departure
Mobil Servo at Artarmon just before turnoff from Pacific Highway onto Gore Hill Freeway (not the Boundary Road Mobil previously posted). Nearest cross street is Rimmington Street. I'll post a map at the end of the thread (can't seem to add images when I edit for some reason).
Mine's a titanium grey with Enkei rims - don't be shy, come and introduce yourself if we haven't met (or even if we have - my memory for names ain't great, lol).
As I am uncertain how many northerners wish to meet up before heading to the second meetup point, and I don't want to keep the southern contingent waiting, I shall be leaving at 9.15 sharp. If you're running late, just make your own way south and we'll see you at the next stop.
2nd Meetup Point - 10.00am for 10.15 sharp departure
Waratah Park near the corner of Rawson Avenue and Princes Highway, Sutherland.
This is a cycling track with good offstreet parking in plentiful supply on Sunday mornings (because the club only races on Friday nights in summer).
As you drive along Rawson Avenue away from Sutho shopping centre, you go past the Leisure Centre and some playing fields on your left, so do not make the mistake of entering the carparks for those facilities. The entrance into the cycling track carpark is just past a roundabout (i.e. the last roundabout before you hit the corner of Princes Highway). It's not very well signposted but you will know you're approaching it because there's a line of barrier poles just past the roundabout. The entrance is at the start of that line of poles. Carpark is well paved and marked with lines, etc.
It is a one way, longitudinal layout, with the clubhouse up near the other end from the entrance. So we do not bother any cyclists who may be parking there to train, etc, please park in the first available spots after you enter, rather than drive up to the other end.
Link to a site showing the location is below:
http://www.sutherlandshirecyclingclub.org.au/html/location.html
General Route
We will depart Waratah Park at 10.15 sharp (or as soon as I get there, whichever is the later). Would everybody please ensure they have enough fuel, etc before getting to the meetup points, because we will not be waiting while you go to find a servo.
We will turn left out of the carpark and then turn right from Rawson Avenue onto the Princes Highway. We will then turn left at the next set of lights onto Farnell Avenue to head into the Royal National Park and down to Audley Weir. As we may not get everybody through the Rawson Avenue lights in one go, if possible I'll pull over somewhere convenient on Farnell to allow everybody to catch up. If that's not possible for some reason, please just try to catch up as best you can (without doing anything stupid).
From Audley Weir we will head straight onto Sir Bertram Stevens Drive and then onto Lady Wakehurst Drive (i.e. do not turn onto The McKell Avenue). We will then turn left onto Lawrence Hargrave Drive to head down the back of Stanwell Tops and onto the coast road through Coalcliff, Coldale, etc. This is a spectacular route owing to the bridges that arc out over the ocean and those who have not been this way before should have the camera ready to click off a few shots.
Just past Thirroul we rejoin the Princes Highway for the run into Wollongong. We will turn left at a set of lights from the Princes Highway into Bourke Street and then right along Cliff Road. At the roundabout, we will turn left up Endeavour Drive for our destination (which hopefully has enough parking for all the cars to be generally in the one spot).
Destination
Flagstaff Hill Park, Endeavour Drive, Wollongong.
This was the destination at a cruise a year or so ago, so some of you may be familiar with it. It is up on the headland with a commanding view looking south down the main beach. There is a fair bit of parking but it can get busy when the weather is good. Shops to buy food are a short stroll away.
Plan is to have some lunch there. Bring your own or buy it locally. Families welcome but unfortunately I'll be leaving mine at home this trip.
Departure time is up to you but those who want to attempt to head back north in company (not easy getting out of Wollongong that way because of all the lights) are welcome to find me and we'll head off together once everybody seems to have had enough meeting, greeting and eating. Route north will depend on a consensus as to whether people want to go back through the Park or just head up the freeway.
Notes
We have a lot of cars on this cruise, so formation flying and/or following the leader just isn't going to be possible at all times. While we will do our best to keep everyone together, it is up to you to know where you're going and how to get there, so if you do get separated, you'll find the rest of us again at the next stop/destination.
Please, no crazy overtaking moves, burnouts, etc (some particularly optimistic efforts on past cruises come to mind). If that's your go, piss off and do it somewhere away from the rest of us. Similarly, although we will have a short lash through some twisties if the opportunity presents, this is a cruise, not an attempt to set the land speed record from Sutho to Wollongong. The idea is to bring forum members together in person, not a Sunday morning thrash (which is always better done in smaller numbers and much earlier, mwahaha).
Feel free to take pics/vids and bring along CB's if you like. If posting pics, remember that some forum members prefer their plates blacked out.
I think that's about it. Look forward to seeing you all on the day.
Please register interest in this thread or PM me if you like.

Miss.Trish 12-05-2007, 09:56 AM im keen!

Ottog 12-06-2007, 08:41 AM Hi Dave,
February is good. It'll give me a reason put a coat of wax on the beast.
matt13b 12-07-2007, 02:08 AM A sunday in feb is even better..
Revolver 12-07-2007, 06:20 PM Okay, how does Sunday 10 February sound?
Any ideas for destination? Somewhere with easy parking for a group, so we can keep the cars together that's not too far from a park or beach, preferably with BBQ amenities.
XLR83N 12-07-2007, 06:38 PM sounds good, is this a confirmed date so i take it off work?
Revolver 12-07-2007, 06:41 PM Still tenative at this stage until we hear back from a few more people.
Keep tabs on the thread and I'll confirm the date which seems the most popular shortly.
Revolver 12-10-2007, 02:22 PM Well, we seem to have 5 cars so far but could do with plenty more for this kind of day.
So, all those Sydney people who reckon they want to come along to a cruise - get off your asses and let me know if you're coming. :)
blakdawg 12-10-2007, 04:30 PM Hi all, i would like to join. Are we confirmed for the 10th Feb?
Where are we cruzin too?
Can my brother come, he does not drive a RX8 though :(
But has a Evo8, so still an 8 :)
Revolver 12-11-2007, 03:04 PM G'day blakdawg.
You're welcome and your brother too.
Yes, 10 February it is given the lack of opposition to date.
I'll amend the first post accordingly.
takahashi 12-11-2007, 06:38 PM Changed the dates for you in the title. Have fun guys.
mogley 12-11-2007, 06:51 PM I'm interested.
Last one was a blast.
Cronullarx8 12-15-2007, 05:44 PM I am a cruise virgin but timing and location works well for me. Put me down.
Revolver 12-15-2007, 07:33 PM Thanks Taka.
Good news Mogley, Rod.
I'll firm up details in the new year.
Currently enjoying Sanctuary Cove atm. Golf buggies need more power, lol...
MACCAA 12-16-2007, 12:00 AM Should be OK for this one.
Cheers
Len
mikeyr 12-16-2007, 12:06 AM Yep no partying without me guys!
RXP33D 12-16-2007, 04:33 PM Tuan + 1 please.
Revolver 12-17-2007, 07:11 PM Tuan + 1 please.
Do you mean plus another car or just a passenger? If the latter, no need to advise because everyone will be expected to cater for their own food and drink.
South is firming up (I think we promised to do this next time we cruised anyways).
The Sutherland meetup point is easy for me - the old pushbike track (where I used to race many, many, many years ago :uhh: ) has a decent sized carpark and is handy to the road into the National Park. I'll try to dig out the street address for those who don't know it (those who want GPS coordinates can stuff their Navmans where the sun don't shine). If any southerners have a better idea, speak now, etc...
As for a north meetup point, I suggest a Macca's that is convenient to the Paccy Highway that is above the approaches to the bridge freeways, as I propose a no-nonsense route to the Sutho meetup point (i.e. straight thru the tunnel and down the main roads). Mikey, any ideas?
Suggest northerners familiarise themselves with the Sutho location in case they get separated (are too slow :spank: ).
Revolver 12-17-2007, 07:23 PM The place at Sutho I have in mind is on Rawson Avenue, just before you get to the intersection with the Princes Highway. As you leave Sutho along Rawson, you drive past some ovals on your left and it is just past those.
From there we will turn off down Farnell Avenue into the National Park.
Let me know if this needs more clarification (or changed to a better location).
matt13b 12-17-2007, 08:51 PM Ok.I'll be meeting at the north location to cruise south..

Hahaha, no sweat Tuan. He's added.
13 cars so far - not bad but we can do better I'm sure. C'mon Sydney people - come along and put some faces to avatars. Some of them are NOTHING like you imagined, lol...
MissyK 12-18-2007, 02:51 AM - come along and put some faces to avatars. Some of them are NOTHING like you imagined, lol...
I hear you brother
e5cape 12-18-2007, 04:51 AM Hi,
put me down but i'll probably be driving the Hummer instead,
got to take the wife and kid along so rx8 will be to small for them
justin
blakdawg 12-19-2007, 03:15 AM Hey, a mate of mine wants to cruz as well. He rolls in an RX7. Its still a rotor and Mazda but has twin hair dryers :). So that's 3 for me. Me- RX8, my Bro Evo-8, and my mate-RX7.
Also depends on the weather :)
Revolver 12-19-2007, 03:23 PM Hi,

I can fit the wife and both kids in mine, so bring your 8!:eyetwitch
matt13b 12-19-2007, 08:08 PM Also, spoke to my dad last night and he was interested in coming too in his Lotus Exige S? Is that ok dave? I told him he would have to go at the back behind all the cars with better engines than his..
Revolver 12-19-2007, 09:40 PM Hahaha, for sure Matt. It's turning out to be a mongrel-fest anyways, so why the hell not.
The aim of this cruise is a social gathering rather than an RX8 parade, hence MACCAA's attendence in the Pogo Terror.
I draw the line at Camry's and VW Eos' though!! :spank:
e5cape 12-20-2007, 10:37 PM I can fit the wife and both kids in mine, so bring your 8!:eyetwitch
she is 7 months pregnant, so i don't know if they can alll fit:)
and i got to think of safety first for my unborn child

Fair enough - I was just teasing you.
Yours can be the mothership for the cruise!
Mind you, I think safety applies to every passenger - born and unborn. I've never understood the distinction - they're all precious to you (except when they wake you up too early after getting on it the night before :banghead: ).
Miss.Trish 12-24-2007, 02:34 AM Hi,
put me down but i'll probably be driving the Hummer instead,
hummer - nice! *thumbs up*
DrewMan 12-26-2007, 08:49 AM 10/2/08 is now officially marked on the calender as being "Cruise"
add me mr revolver!
Revolver 12-26-2007, 03:53 PM Doneski.
Does this mean we'll have the green light?? :ylsuper:
WhiteRain 12-27-2007, 09:47 PM Hmm this date looks good for me. I've marked it in my calendar.
Assuming we get good (ie. dry) weather that day I'm about 90% sure I'll be there.

I understand your point of view e5cape but before we right off the RX8, lets put a balanced view out there! Firstly I think we all agree that no car is 100 percent safe or collision-proof, and clearly your choice of vehicle in terms of space and comfort for your pregnant wife is a better one.
But it's the safety features which ultimately save lives, and your post inspired me to do a comparison of the two vehicles. I was surprised to find the RX8 crash test ratings were higher than I first thought....but I couldn't find one on the Hummer. I did find however that Hummers get a measily 8mpg, so to all those people who complain about fuel economy think of Justin!
Here are the RX8 crash test stats... http://www.safercar.gov/Cars/3534.html.

..
Enforcer...thanks for the details post , but my Hummer is a H3 not the H2
therefore is have better fuel economy, actually it is about the same compare to my Rx8
i get 400kms per 60L tank .
H3 does have both driver and front passenger curtain airbag , and 2 rear airbags.
In total it have 6 airbags.
Revolver 01-02-2008, 11:27 PM Gawd! Enuff with the Hummer talk already. Unless you're hit by a fully loaded semi, something tells me your airbag count will remain academic, lol.
I'll be in the Shire on Sunday to see some old friends, so I might do a bit of recon on the Sutho meet-up point and confirm, etc.
Reads like a worthy cruise.
If your a ROTARY enthusiast, there is an AUSROTARY cruise on 20 JAN 08

Can see the Cosmo going to that one.
REgards
Revolver 01-03-2008, 02:40 PM Cosmo and her owner most welcome to join us Dave if you're interested. :)
Revolver 01-03-2008, 10:55 PM Have updated the first post with a few more details.
Gradually sneaking up on the details, so if anyone has any suggestions or feedback, speak up now. Will firm things up over the next week or so.
Numbers are growing kiddies. Looks like it'll be a fun day out, so if you're umming and aahing just say yes. :)
If we extend it down to the 'Gong are there any ACTer's who would like to drive up to meet us??

What made you get a hummer instead of a normal 4wd?
enforcer 01-04-2008, 11:50 PM You're throwing caution to the wind Kal, I've already got a...:spank:
:lol2: ;)
Revolver 01-05-2008, 03:49 PM :Kill1:
Don't make me come down there and bitch slap you Kall!
;)
RXP33D 01-05-2008, 06:57 PM Since we're on the topic, is this the new H3? I can't tell? Dave, any input?
Revolver 01-06-2008, 05:37 AM Tuan, you can now expect to be behind said Hummer during the gravel section of the route! :spank: :)
mikeyr 01-06-2008, 10:50 PM Bags me on the highway, should halve the fuel bill!
Revolver 01-06-2008, 11:53 PM I'm tying my kids to his roof racks to save on weight.
Now speaking of another word for BJ's (see Enforcer's tyre thread), can we stop talking hummers please, lol??
Anyone have any other suggestions for the cruisey?
StevoStevo 01-08-2008, 01:43 AM Hi Revolver, is it too late to add one more? I'm new to this, and I would like to join this event. I will be driving my 8 there

Not at all Stevo(x2). ;)
Newbies always welcome. Sydney cruises are friendly events and the idea is to meet, greet, perve on others mods and generally enjoy a relaxed drive somewhere with the odd short lash if traffic conditions permit (this is purely up to you though).
Revolver 01-09-2008, 03:24 PM :dubs:

As for your post count - don't sweat the small stuff. ;)
wOng_R 01-11-2008, 02:14 AM Is it possible if i can bring a friend with me? Corolla Sportivo and possible Honda Integra DC5R. Would be great if i could bring both, but one will do, up to u guys!

Well at the risk of diluting this further, I don't suppose it's fair to say no to you given my previous 'exceptions'. Mind you, Corolla Sportivo is stretching the friendship!! ;)
Names for the list please?
But that's it for the mongrel contingent folks - any additional cars have to be RX8s.

If I am in Sydney that weekend I will most likely have a Mitsubishi 380 with a Thrifty badge on the back.
That would just look plain wrong.

Oops...:uhh:
I thought since a lot of people were already bringing so many non Rx-8 friends along that it would be alright for me to do so as well.
Specifically a Golf GTi and a not so stock Accord Euro. I probably shoulda mentioned that earlier.

This will now be known as The Mongrel Cruise, so drivers of lesser vehicles can see how nice RX8 drivers are. ;)

Oh that's right - I had forgotten. I'll add him.
Yes, unfortunately I opened the floodgates and all the people who can't find cruises elsewhere have come running. Won't be doing that again - future cruises will be RX8 only with exceptions for ex-RX8 owners that we know (e.g. the Old Fart's VW brigade, lol).
Revolver 01-15-2008, 03:24 PM 26 by my count atm. Healthy, even if padded somewhat by ring-ins.
More RX8's please!!! Should be a good day, so stop hanging back people.

You haven't claimed on insurance yet?!?
mogley 01-20-2008, 06:05 PM You haven't claimed on insurance yet?!?
I have put in the claim and the insurance company has been helpful enough to say that because so many people were affected they won't raise my premiums.
Having said that, a $1500 excess isn't cheap.
Just taking it easy during the festive season and been a bit lazy to hawk her around for quotes and with this piss poor weather in Sydney i've been a bit reluctant to do the rounds.

Cromax 01-20-2008, 07:10 PM Oh good, as long as you've put the claim in.
shaketim 01-24-2008, 08:08 PM hey, it would be great if people could beg borrow steal some video cameras to bring along on the day, i`d be happy to cut it together into a mini doco!. (sounds like there`ll be few of us ! ) mini dv cams, (none of that old hi8 analog tape business) :)

Revolver 01-24-2008, 08:58 PM Feel free.

Done. :)
Revolver 01-25-2008, 08:53 PM just wondering, has a destination, route and meeting points been found yet?
Patience Grasshopper. :)
Watch this space - I'll post those details this week.
Cronullarx8 01-26-2008, 04:29 AM Bugger - going to have to miss the cruise. Have to take a business trip to India commencing 3 Feb and returning 15 Feb (just in time for Winton). Mumbai to Sutherland cruise may be a bit of a stretch. Looks like I am to remain a cruise virgin. Sure to see some of you guys at Winton. Keep up the good work Dave. Have fun
Revolver 01-26-2008, 05:16 PM Sorry to hear that Rod. Have fun at Winton! :)
Revolver 01-28-2008, 11:04 PM I have a small prize to donate to one lucky participant at this cruise.
The question is how to decide?? show 'n shine, best dressed, worst dressed (might be harder, lol), coolest mod, ricest mod (again, could be tough, hahaha).
Suggestions please (and resist the temptation to say give it to me!! If you must attempt humour, be creative)...
mikeyr 01-29-2008, 02:30 AM Are we excluding Avatar Mod's Dave?
You the silver surfer???? Ummm words fail me!
MissyK 01-29-2008, 03:50 PM OMG Dave changed his avatar? almost 3 years later!!
Revolver 01-29-2008, 04:59 PM Are we excluding Avatar Mod's Dave?
You the silver surfer???? Ummm words fail me!
We share the same hairline and facial expressions.
Just a bit of fun - got bored with the bullet...
blakdawg 01-31-2008, 04:53 PM I have a small prize to donate to one lucky participant at this cruise.

is this prize only for RX8 cars? or all including the mongrel cars?
Revolver 01-31-2008, 11:47 PM is this prize only for RX8 cars? or all including the mongrel cars?
Only the RX8's. Don't wanna encourage the mongies... :)
Sorry everyone - have been a bit slack about organising details. Will attempt to do so shortly.
mikeyr 02-02-2008, 12:21 AM http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q41/mikerudman/IMG_3684bugger.jpg
Bugger there goes my cruise. Lucky i was in Singapore at the time as if i had been driving when the plonker ran into my wife, i might be on Crime stoppers!!!
Damage, 3 panels, sill & 1 wheel! Not my excess!!!
Mike
matt13b 02-02-2008, 01:52 AM I don't think anything I say can make that better.It'll buff right out??
mikeyr 02-02-2008, 02:13 AM Um "buff out" ....no! It's looks worse in real life! Doesn't seem to have damaged the new suspension which only went in the week before! Will be a few new panels!
matt13b 02-02-2008, 04:05 AM No it was a joke in bad taste.I feel for you,I would be cut right up if that was my car. Sorry to see the damage..
takahashi 02-02-2008, 04:18 AM Sorry to hear that Mikey... what is the wheel damage. The suspension is well hidden in the car, the weak link will be the toe/chamber arm rather than the suspension. .... I found it the hardway. So I am pretty confident that your suspension will be fine.
Revolver 02-02-2008, 07:12 PM Yeah, not looking real good there Mike. Sorry to hear about it and hope you get the evil twin fixed up real soon. I'll take you and little bro off the list. You'll be missed.
For everyone else, I'm about to update the first post with all the details of meetup points, etc, so check it out. Any problems, PM me or post them here.
Revolver 02-02-2008, 08:21 PM Okay, first post updated with everything you should need to know.
Here's a map of the first meetup point (Mobil at Artarmon):
mx5geek 02-04-2008, 01:26 AM This may be a silly question but will there be any toll roads involved on this trip?
blakdawg 02-04-2008, 02:32 AM due to Bailey's barometre it looks like RAIN RAIN RAIN all this week and including SUNDAY!!!
if thats the case, myself, bro and friend will most likey wont be attending the cruise.
XLR83N 02-04-2008, 04:01 AM wont be attending because of rain?
just makes my saturday easier as i dont have to wash the car lol!
shaketim 02-04-2008, 06:01 AM its not like it`ll be raining Lava !
driving with the windows up is just as good, c`mon blakdawg, you know you`ll kick yourself if you miss it :)
MissyK 02-04-2008, 04:19 PM hey Mike, sorry to see what happened to your car. At least wifey is okay hey. Car can be repaired. Only bother is chasing it up with insurance and waiting..
Blakdawg, are you serious you guys wont drive in the rain? lol but you'll be in the car, rain wont ruin your hair!!
Revolver 02-04-2008, 06:08 PM This may be a silly question but will there be any toll roads involved on this trip?
No, unless you need to cross the Harbour Bridge or want to use the M5, etc on the way back.
Haven't been through Nasho Park for ages. You used to have to pay if you intended to park in there but not if you were driving through. Don't know if that's changed or not, so have some gold coins with you.

I'll be going unless it's hailing. Up to everyone else to decide whether they want to go or not.
If it's pissing down at Wollongong on our arrival, we'll probably look for somewhere undercover to eat lunch or just brush it and head back again.

Melbourne style! EVERY cruise we've had down here which has been BBQ also, we've ended up getting rained on :banghead: Mornington peninsula cruise was cozy, about 16 of us huddled under this tiny covering over the bbq :uhh: Lake mountain the same, we got rained on, and GOR. I think both phillip island cruises started off with rain in morning and was clear by time we got there. I blame Andrew for the rain! :lol2:

Sorry to railroad the tread but if that is what it takes to break the drought here in Melbourne let's organise a cruise ASAP.
Now back to the topic. Have fun peoples of NSW!
Revolver 02-05-2008, 03:30 PM Heard on the radio this morning that Audley Weir is flooded. Hopefully there's not enough rain to flood it again on Sunday but we'll need to check and perhaps go into the Park a bit further down...
matt13b 02-07-2008, 08:40 PM Just for your info Dave,me and my dad will meet you at the Mobil at artarmon at 9am..
RXP33D 02-08-2008, 08:17 PM KK Liverpool meet up anyone?
If so, 9AM ok?
WhiteRain, Patricia, Escape, WongR?
Revolver 02-09-2008, 12:50 AM Just for your info Dave,me and my dad will meet you at the Mobil at artarmon at 9am..
Noted thanks Matt.
I will try to find out if Audley Weir is still closed tomorrow morning but if I don't get a chance for some reason would be grateful if someone else could also check.
If that's the case, we'll enter the National Park at Waterfall instead and I will advise route at Waratah Park before departure.
Look forward to seeing you all tomorrow. Don't let some rain scare you off - usually makes the run better because more people stay indoors.
Revolver 02-09-2008, 01:08 AM Hehehe, just to absolutely ensure wet conditions tomorrow, I'm going to take advantage of this late arvo sunshine to go wash the Revolvermobile. :banghead:
XLR83N 02-09-2008, 01:39 AM aye tuan, i might be up for the livo kk meet up. are you gonna be there for sure?
enforcer 02-09-2008, 01:40 AM The cruise is shaping up well Dave. How many do you think will turn up....?
RXP33D 02-09-2008, 02:01 AM Mike, I'm running street slicks at the fronts so depends on how the sky pans out tomorrow.
PM sent.
Anyone else keen on KK Liverpool?
blakdawg 02-09-2008, 04:47 AM my bro and i will be coming tomorrow lads, we will be at the 2nd meet up point. If we can get to KK livo by 9am we will see u guys there - dont wait for us if we not there, that means were running a bit late
mx5geek 02-09-2008, 05:08 AM Looking forward to going for a drive tomorrow, hopefully the weather isnt too bad! Just programed the route into my tomtom, so hopefully i wont get lost.
See you at the first meetup point.
Revolver 02-09-2008, 05:11 AM The cruise is shaping up well Dave. How many do you think will turn up....?
:dunno: Buggered if I know Trev and don't really care to be honest. Have organised and attended enough cruises to know that Sydneysiders are a precious lot and will only turn up if it suits them to do so (me included  ).
My attitude to cruises is to post what I'm planning to do and if people want to join in, great. If not, that's their loss. :)

Noted, thanks mx5geek.
Almost got carried away and polished the car after washing it today and then common sense took over.
Some showers forecast tomorrow but hopefully they miss us.
Remembered the prize too. We might do a key draw for it if we can find a decent barrel girl. :)
MACCAA 02-09-2008, 06:27 AM Dave
Audley Weir is shown as closed on the RTA website.Just type in "Audley Weir" on Google and it'll show the link to the RTA.

Thanks Len.
Checked just now and there's no warning on either the site or the phone line (recorded message of road closures), so I'm assuming it's now open.
However, would be grateful if one of the southerners could check between 9.30 and 10.00, whilst I'm in transit.
WhiteRain 02-09-2008, 03:48 PM After spending 13 hours yesterday helping a friend move all his worldly possessions halfway across the sydney metro area, karma decided to f*ck me over for no reason. I've injured my neck and can't turn my head more than a few degrees either way without wanting to die.
Woke up about an hour ago, and currently sitting here with an icepack and pain killing cream wishing it will get better in the next 20 minutes so I can run to the car and drive to Sutherland, but its looking unlikely...
So instead it looks like I get to sit here all day bored out of my brains.
There's no apology here, cos the only person missing out is me :icon_no2:
Hope you guys have fun today. Bring back lots of pics.
enforcer 02-09-2008, 09:08 PM The BOM weather map looked pretty clear to me today...let hope you guys (and girls) had a good cruise....and you got some good pics....
matt13b 02-09-2008, 10:36 PM Thanks for organising another great cruise Dave,it was well planned and well executed. Thanks as well to all who attended, was good to see and meet you all and to see all the cars together. The cars all looked great (loved the 200sx and the evo too). Keep the weight down and hope to see you all on another cruise soon (or better still,at the track)..
RXP33D 02-10-2008, 04:12 PM Anyone got photos?

Hope you're feeling better WR. We missed your white car yesterday - I was hoping to have a good look over it.
Revolver 02-10-2008, 04:34 PM Thanks to everyone who attended yesterday. We ended up with about 15 cars, incl some mongrels - a 'smooth' 200SX, Evo, Integra, Len's Pug and a Lotus Exige (which unfortunately ran out of brakes and couldn't continue). Waldo even made a return from the dead in a disgustingly dirty storm blue car, hahaha.
Weather was kind to us and there were no mishaps. Len and I even had a nice little moderate go through some of the Nasho Park twisties before hitting traffic again. A lovely drive through the park and down the coast road, highly recommended if you haven't done it. A weekday is best if you want to play.
Tried to get around and say hello to you all before having to leg it home to mow lawns, etc before a shindig at our place that night. Apologies to those I missed. Red wine on a sunday night isn't a good idea! Well, in quantity anyway! ;-)
Anyway, saw plenty of cameras, so please post up some pics.
Hey, what happened to Mogley and the only good looking auto trans owner?? ;-)

Thanks for the cruise Dave :), it was good to meetup with u all and catch up with the old skoolers (otto/Dave/Tuan/Len)....even if I had to make it to wollongong first  .... It was a nice fun drive thru the nat park, on the way home in pack of 4 too (1 stormy blue/2 BB's/1Winning Blue) :dubs: ...
OOoh and u werent wrong Dave :lol2: , having only had 2 hours sleep the nite b4, i think you can let me off for having my car, not at its normal standard :lol2: ... ooh and hence my sore head too :banghead: ... oooh and jus mentioning some of the mongrels, they were nice too, lotus and s14 rear dish were very cool aswell.
shaketim 02-11-2008, 04:17 AM put me down for a group of 4 drive thru the nat park at any time, that was awesome fun , for a few brief moments :)
matt, your such a trackster, i saw you crossing those double lines to dodge wet bits of road when we were barely doin 50 on the way back :)
(tim, the other winning blu with QLD plates) :)
ZOOMBY 02-11-2008, 02:36 PM yeah it was a fun drive back :) , and it helps when there is no slower traffic around :Eyecrazy: , which we encountered a couple times....although for most of the way back, we pretty much had the road to ourselves.....and even the Harley with 2 people on it, was giving it a hit when he saw 4 rx8's in his mirrors  ....
Revolver 02-11-2008, 06:33 PM I have to go down to Wollongong for work on Friday.

I think it's a condition called "obsessive compulsive" Tim. It's no fun. I wash my car at least once a week and actually drive it about once a fortnight. You would think it was a Ferrari or something with the care it gets, I am sure I like my car far more than a Ferrari owner cares or likes their car. I clean inside the exhaust pipes, and get this, this is the freakiest bit: I get so worried about the rubbish drivers around bumping into me that I bought a Honda Jazz that I drive around to the shops and A-B trips (actually 90% of the time) just so I can relax knowing that my baby is in the garage clean and safe waiting for the next trackday, cruise or special event! So bring it on people, roast me if you will but my mazda is my Ferrari for now until I get the real thing..
By the way, I have had some wanker comments from some RX8 owners when I am in the Jazz and I give them the thumbs up or tell them that I like their car in a car park. One guy with his handbag girlfriend said to me after I said I liked his car "well work hard son and one day you might have a car like this too", I didn't have the heart to embarrass him so I just smiled and said I would see what I could do.

Hahaha, I'm not that bad but I gave a colleague a ride today and she asked if my car was new!! I coughed and said it was getting on for 4 years old. :eyetwitch
BTW, didn't have time for the coast road and Nasho Park on the way down this morning but did so on the way back and had most of it to myself. Only copped traffic just before Audley Weir. Smokin' :)
