Smoking a CF hood?

I was just thinking about this. I've been thinking about a CF hood (not really gonna buy one though) and how it fits with a black 8. Normaly the color doesnt match perfectly, so i was thinking could you put a slight smoke on the hood similar to that of taillights? Is it possible to do it so that it matches up with the paint better while still being able to see the CF?

just a random thought.

I was thinking the same thing - but a pearl type paint that would match your factory color but be slightly transparent.

Good question.

The only possible method I could thing of is using a tinted version of the rockblocker protectant. It's 3m film. I had my entire SEIBON hood covered with it to prevent fading and also to keep cracks or other damage from occuring. The stuff I had put on is clear, but I know they make tinted versions of it.

I suppose it depends on the hood maker, but I feel the Seibon hood offers a nice contrast to the black color but not so much it looks bad. Some people believe you should paint the hood unless you have a grey car...so opinions vary.

Depending on the cost of the application it could be close to the same cost as painting the hood. Still, I would highly suggest getting the hood covered with protectant film to help it last many years.
