I have a 2004, all recalls done, all stock, 37k miles, manual.. it has this annoying chirping sound when started cold until its warmed up.. it sounds like a belt slipping, but im not sure.. when you just start up taking off in 1st, or tap the throttle while out of gear sitting there, it chirps at the rpm peak.

Here is a link to a youtube video I ran across while browsing for "rx8".. this car does the exact same thing.. any ideas? its not that noticeable, but when you are like beside a wall where sound is bounced, or outside of the car when someone is driving it away.. its very noticeable.

Thanks for any ID of this?

I believe that noise is normal. But check around the throttle body.

There may be a vaccum leak.

Your A/C belt is probably loose, I just tightened mine because it was making a similar sound.

If you cant check it yourself take it to a mechanic.
