can anyone tell me which one is the right one??
also i thought it was supposed to redline at 8.5K RPM, that only shows to 8K, whats the deal??

The top one is more likely correct. The bottom one was from the previous RX-8 from over a year ago.

yah. the second one was back in the day when it was called the rx-evolve and the beging stages of the rx8. the top one is how it will most likely look.

i kinda like the way the interior look before better. but hell, cannot complain. atleast it is finally being released

red line, i think, is supposed to be 9k

actually, it is combination of two... its gonna have 3 big dials but they will be more separated than the top one and you wont have that wavy top

If it has 3 big dials does that mean it will not have a full gauge package (fuel, temp, oil pressure and battery charging)?

Also if it has a oil pressure guage I hope it will be a real oil pressure gauge and not a glorified "idiot light" type gauge that Mazda uses on the current Miata.

somehow i think all is still subject to be changed, we should be able to see production version few months from now

I like the old concept gauges better, 220mph speedo, 12k RPM gauge and now its a digital speedo (which break all the times) and a 7k redline, this isn't a piston engine mazda!!! i thought 12k RPM was a little low :( hell my 1st gen rpm gauge redlines at 7k and its 17 years old......

Johnny, you whiney little Bitch. The power band is still effective up over 7k, and i believe that the HP ratings are taken over 7k :D

Actually here are a few pics. The first is an actual photo of the car in Detroit. You can see here it looks as though the dash has a starting redzone at 9K, and then a different zone at about 9500 RPM. You can also see the different gauges and that the speedo does indeed look to be digital, something I'm not a huge fan of. But if you look on the left pod, it appears that there is both a water temp gauge and an oil pressure gauge.

In this photo, which is taken from a RX-8 desktop wallpaper from the Mazda site, the gauge is a little different. From this pic it looks as though redline is 9500- 10K RPM. Its kinda fuzzy but you can see where the normal hash marks turn into a solid line at around 9500.

Who knows what one is correct....

Definitely more like the first pic, which shares the same typestyle or font as the badging(also minus the paddle shifters). The meter hood is all black now as well due to glare issues.

well, i saw the guage pod in the video of the rx8, it looks really close to the top one..i think it looks pretty nice, and not clutered at all

keep in mind that even RT pictures didnt really touch the inside at all (almost) which makes me think that inside is still being worked on while outside and engine are done

I personally like the first gauge cluster. Extremely modern and a clean design. The metal ones don't look clear. And when sun hits that metal, forget about it. You'll be blinded.

Digital Speedos (or tachs) should be outlawed.

If they're like any digital units that came before, they'll be slow to react. You just can't replace the dial! It gives you that added perspective of 'rate of ascending or descending' that digits cannot.

I totally agree, maybe the clock and radio but nothing else.

I could live with a digital speedo, but not a digital tachometer. A digital tach is useless, other than telling you how fast the engine was spinning a few moments ago - my experience from late 80's GM digital cockpits.

I like the 1st cluster, it's modern and clean looking. The chrome ringed version seems overtly retro in a car that has (and should not have) no retro intent.
