once its moved into manual it doesn't do anything, the paddles do nothing, and little green (i think its green) next the d stays on and doesn't switch to the m on the dash, and i'm rather terrified i'm gonna have to go another week without my car cause it'll take them forver to fix it. and if they try to charge me for it i will make that dealership so sorry for selling me a car thats messed up. also will make them gimmie a new door sill. i'm hoping that this is one of those safety things that during the firs 100-200 miles of the breakin period it doesn't let you switch into manual cause the ecu is programmed by a retard, has anyone else had this problem?

Nope - shifting into manual always worked for me. I have 800 miles on mine and it runs great. Can you drive in full auto?

Sorry to hear about your problems. The door sill is easily fixed, at least.

you've never had it in manual mode? please don't take offense but are you sure your not doing something incorrectly? my wife's freind has an auto and neither she nor her boyfreind have reported any problems yet. i haven't had a chance to drive it myself.

is it normal for lots of stuff to brake on this car?

no. it is not. many of us have cars that have not had any problems. but it is also the first year for a brand new car so there are bound to be some problems in early production vehicles.

i don't think i'm doing anything wrong, i know this because when i test drove another car i was able to switch into manual mode, and i'm not doing anything different, i guess i just have to go to the dealer

One Question: Have you read the owners manual?

Excellent point. I am astonished here by the number of people who have questions that would be answered in the manual. They have popped $30K for a car and can't read. If they were the standard Buick-buying dullard I would understand.

yes absolutly i raed the owners manual, no i'm not doing anything wrong, i went to the dealer and they didn't believe it at first, but the confirmed that the problem is real and not that i'm doing somethign wrong. of course the guy in the garage didn't want to work on the car because i brought the car in 45 min before they close, but they really close 30 min early so i have to bring the car back to him on friday, and the guy said if he isn't too busy he'll take a look at the car for me. if any of you live in new york, there is a mazda dealer on hillside ave, by parsons blvd, in jamaica queens. they gave me a good deal on the car cause my dad bought a car from them a few years ago. unless they are giving you something spectacular stay away from that dealership.

absolutely post it here when they figure out the problem and the solution. my guess is that very shortly one of the factory engineers will be flying in to look at your car
