View Full Version : Lets vote for exhaust
philsbluerx8 10-29-2007, 04:50 PM Hey everyone, i think its the time to vote for different exhaust systems, basically depending on whichever has good sound and good quality. (since hp increase could be neglected, its not included). If people could give some catless midpipe suggestion on this thread, it would be better.
its not only about for fun, but also it should be really helpful for people who are thinking of different exhaust to get!!!
Thanks!
(hell!, its my first time to post a poll, dont even know how the hell this works; if the thread is not successful, dont blame me please, haha!
brilliantblackrx8 10-29-2007, 05:04 PM My vote is RE AMEMIYA!
tajabaho1 10-29-2007, 05:19 PM wtf, where's espelir
JB_Rotary 10-29-2007, 09:53 PM JIC sounds amazing and titanium FTW!!!!
DarkBrew 10-29-2007, 10:01 PM Racing Beat FTW
WoodsOfGreenRx8 10-29-2007, 10:04 PM I really like my Agency Power exhaust.. Its midpipe they supply with do make it a very loud car & a 5whp difference(not that really matters).
Charles R. Hill 10-29-2007, 10:34 PM I like my Borla and tend to get compliments on how it sounds deeper than most other exhausts, even without my cat. I also was compared to Big Bore cars once while at Road Atlanta.
moete87 10-29-2007, 10:37 PM Magnaflow!!!!!
WBRxGreat 10-30-2007, 12:06 AM greddy sp2, great price, light weight, almost no drone daily driving, sweet sound when you open it up!
philsbluerx8 10-30-2007, 01:29 AM since the max number of polls is 10, i just made this for some exhausts that most people have, sorry to some people whose exhaust systems are not here.....
Brettus 10-30-2007, 02:19 AM Trust titanium here - loud but saweeeet ......
effie 10-30-2007, 04:15 AM I have the FEED exhaust........ guess i cannot participate since its not listed in the poll.....Hmmmmmmm
HCTR154 10-30-2007, 04:52 AM I have the Greddy SP2 along with a RP high flow mid pipe with cat. Works really well. No leaks whatsoever and was fairly easy to install.
chetrickerman 10-30-2007, 07:40 AM RP Supercat and Corksport cat back
morkusyambo 10-30-2007, 10:45 AM I vote for cutting out the cat, welding in a pipe w/ bung for o2 sensor, while retaining stock silencer, all for $35.
apocolypse31 10-30-2007, 11:31 AM i didn't know Tanabe was spelled Tanable
tajabaho1 10-30-2007, 01:27 PM ta-na-ba-le
babohan 10-30-2007, 11:14 PM Borla FTW
Brettus 10-31-2007, 03:30 AM I vote for cutting out the cat, welding in a pipe w/ bung for o2 sensor, while retaining stock silencer, all for $35.
That would be the best bang for buck allright - bloody raspy without a resonator though - or were you meaning leave the stock one in ?
tdiddy 10-31-2007, 05:55 AM I vote TurboXS. Its loud but for $500 its a great deal. It comes with the catless midpipe and an extra O2 bung for an aftermarket wideband. The only true 3" exhaust for the RX8. And great for Turbo applications. All you need to do is have the tips replaced. About $100.
Razz1 10-31-2007, 09:49 AM It all depends upon what you want. I like Racing Beat. They even have a single configuration just for the track.
JIC Titainium is too expensive. Try an off road excursion sometime when your at the track.
XMatrix 10-31-2007, 12:04 PM How come there's no mention of knight sports exhaust? Are they good?
philsbluerx8 10-31-2007, 01:13 PM How come there's no mention of knight sports exhaust? Are they good?
yeah, i heard it is....but its kinda expensive, if i were u, i wouldnt spend money to buy that unless i was realllllllly rich!!!
is the RP supercat really that good?????
BLACKOUT 10-31-2007, 01:42 PM OK serious ??? about an exhaust system, does anybody know if or who makes the dual exhaust angled exhaust system?????
Any takers, I think that that would look awsome and have a really rich sound with better flow??? I thought someone made one before? Who was it?
BLACKOUT 10-31-2007, 01:44 PM also i will pull for the mazdaspeed sp2 with stock pipes. put n a high flow mid and the car still sounds great but gets too loud in the higher RPM'S and sounds kinda like a high spun 4 banger. I need a new exhaust for this reason.
ShinkaChicago 10-31-2007, 01:53 PM I will definitely be a Borla. My Setup with RP Supercat and AEM. The deep sound which is i like and 100% sure i'm getting some ponies on this setup. Greddy SP2 Exhaust should be in that list too. By the way i have an AT.
philsbluerx8 10-31-2007, 04:43 PM My roommate has a 350Z and after he put the Greddy SP2 on it, it sounds even quieter than stock, i dont know why(probably i forgot how loud the stock 350 sounds like)......but for sure, my car with racing beat is louder than the 350Z with Greddy SP2.....
and i dont really like the muffler tips on SP2. too big for me.

Yes, the tips are too large, but it's one of the lightest stainless steel catbacks out there. I live on a golf course on a lake so being quiet isn't a bad thing for me! Keeps my neighbors from staring every time I roll out of the garage....:Eyecrazy:
987HYS 10-31-2007, 05:10 PM Corksport, great sound and 24 lbs lighter than stock
chetrickerman 11-01-2007, 07:43 AM but bad with a midpipe, dont go there, i have already been advised not to, just stick with the stock catback and get a midpipe. easy
Easy_E1 11-01-2007, 07:51 AM Mazdaspeed FTW!
Spinning Sushi 11-01-2007, 08:06 AM What about the most popular exhaust? OEM!
brilliantblackrx8 11-01-2007, 12:36 PM OK serious ??? about an exhaust system, does anybody know if or who makes the dual exhaust angled exhaust system?????
Any takers, I think that that would look awsome and have a really rich sound with better flow??? I thought someone made one before? Who was it?
The company you are refering to is Helix, and unfortunately, NOBODY makes an exhaust like them.
Jayd41 11-01-2007, 12:47 PM TurboXS pwns all other exhausts for the 8
morkusyambo 11-01-2007, 01:10 PM That would be the best bang for buck allright - bloody raspy without a resonator though - or were you meaning leave the stock one in ?
Yep, leave the stock one in. Doesn't sound any different than stock, 20lbs lighter, and unrestricted flow:smoker:
uncivilracer 11-02-2007, 01:33 AM Which is the lightest?
chetrickerman 11-02-2007, 07:07 AM i would say JIC titanium or corksport
User24 11-09-2007, 12:10 PM wtf, where's espelir
That exhaust was discontinued everywhere I tried calling.
morkusyambo 11-09-2007, 03:33 PM That would be the best bang for buck allright - bloody raspy without a resonator though - or were you meaning leave the stock one in ?
Yep. Left the stock resonator in. I honestly still cannot tell the difference from stock.
Chris_R 11-09-2007, 04:05 PM I had the RP HF cat midpipe and Borla catback. It was pretty raspy so I had a small reso welded into the midpipe. At one point I had the OBX headers on too, but the little channel that passes hot air through to 'preheat' the cat was too narrow and would clog up with carbon buildup, throwing a CEL. So I eventually put the stock exhaust manifold on and can't tell any difference in sound or performance.
chetrickerman 11-09-2007, 06:47 PM putting aftermarket headers on this car is pretty much a waste of money. Unless someone comes up with a far superior design that eliminated backpressure.
Chris_R 11-12-2007, 10:12 AM I definately agree.

Razz1 11-12-2007, 10:39 AM Corksport sound is very bad. It's not deep enough. Sounds ricey to me.
J8635621 11-12-2007, 10:42 AM Which is the lightest?
If the corksport is lighter than the JIC I would be absolutely amazed.
Brettus 11-12-2007, 11:25 AM Which is the lightest?
my Trust Ti weighs in at 6kg - when i first picked it up I could hardly believe how light it was .
laythor 11-12-2007, 12:17 PM Got pulled over yesterday for having an aftermarket exhaust (which apparently is illegal in california). Had my receipt for my mazdaspeed exhaust in a folder in my trunk... showed it to the officer and he mumbled something as he tore up the ticket.
chetrickerman 11-12-2007, 12:21 PM bastard, serves him right, we pay their salary, yet they still make us pay
superdon2 01-19-2008, 06:11 AM i would go with legamax, smooth sound, deep but tolerable, less pops,
does not melt ur rear bumper.. and it's street legal
Benjamz 02-14-2008, 06:12 AM The company you are refering to is Helix, and unfortunately, NOBODY makes an exhaust like them.
Im going to make the helix exhaust again, but an improved version of the original, created by rotary extreme, since im buying rotary extreme, i will be bringing back the helix exhaust... .. rotary extreme helped design and create the original helix exhaust..
expect the return around summer 08 when the website re-opens
ben
G3tR3DDY2GR3DDY 02-14-2008, 06:50 AM i vote for exoticspeed!! woohoo that shit is nice
brilliantblackrx8 02-15-2008, 03:45 AM Benjamz, are you serious man? If that is true, I am soooo glad I didn't buy exhaust yet. Please let us in on when you get RE back online. Well if you need a buyer's list you can put me down as
1) BBRX8
Thanks man, I am excited to here about this!!!
MR.ZOOM ZOOM 02-18-2008, 03:53 AM I Vote Obx, U Cant Go Wrong For The Price & It Sounds Real Nice......
Spazzychaz 02-18-2008, 11:04 AM I am gonna go with the Borla setup. I like it so far.
tiltmode43 02-18-2008, 10:42 PM JIC = GREAT sound GREAT quality and HIGH price
