BlueFrenzy 09-26-2007, 01:21 AM I have the Richard Paul Short Shifter (aka AFE? shifter). It's definitely an improvement over the stock shifter. As many of the guys have mentioned .. makes it a rifle-bolt action shift. The stock now feels so squishy to me. You can easily DIY. Took me about an hour because I was going REALLY slow and it was dark in my garage so I didn't want to lose any bolts. Which reflash are you doing? The RB? philsbluerx8 09-26-2007, 01:42 AM I have the Richard Paul Short Shifter (aka AFE? shifter). It's definitely an improvement over the stock shifter. The RB? yeah, i am gonna ship my pcm to them probably by the end of Dec cuz i am not gonna drive it during that period. 1 hour sounds good for me cuz i wont have so much time as installing my intake and exhaust.....great, i will order tomorrow for sure. philsbluerx8 09-26-2007, 12:46 PM by the way bluefrenzy, how much did you pay for that shortshift with shipping to canada and custom broker fee together. Chris_Bangle 09-26-2007, 01:27 PM I have the RP SS and although I do like it. I would suggest that perhaps, u can perhaps start with something like a VooDoo shiftknob and see if you need to go further and get SS. It is great for the track though. Installation should take about 30-45min. philsbluerx8 09-26-2007, 05:25 PM what is RP SS, sorry about the poor knowledge that i have for these brands, can u give me the website to let me check it out? Chris_Bangle 09-26-2007, 06:18 PM Axialflow Engineering (AFE) was founded by Richard Paul(RP) and Dana Cox in 2001 and is located in Chatsworth, Ca. http://www.axialflow.com/ Spinning Sushi 09-26-2007, 06:20 PM I have the Richard Paul Short Shifter (aka AFE? shifter). It took some of us only 10-15 mins to install it. Chris_Bangle 09-26-2007, 06:26 PM ^ using a crowbar to take things off always saves time. Besides you are in Cali it much warmer out there so people move faster BlueFrenzy 09-26-2007, 10:16 PM Ha ha ... the actual shifter itself was easy ... it was just that stupid console cover that I was being slow and chicken with. In the end, I did break that one clip ... no big deal ... my car is grams lighter now :) Philsbluerx8 ... you will cry when I tell you how much I paid ... 50 bucks. I bought it from a former rx8 owner who traded his for an STI. He got it when it first came out --> I seem to remember him saying that it was fairly cheap to send over ($26 USPS??? and $15GST???). The other option for a shortshifter would be the Mazdaspeed one but that's 2-3x more expensive than the Richard Paul/AFE shifter. Reading some of the reviews, the Mazdaspeed has longer throws than the RP/AFE. With our dollar so strong now, you should definitely go for it! Honestly you won't regret it. philsbluerx8 09-26-2007, 10:23 PM Ha ha ... the actual shifter itself was easy ... it was just that stupid console cover that I was being slow and chicken with.
