Stock Nav screen w/ aftermarket video

I have been debating on installing a CarPC or possibly just a few video cams on my Rex and I already have the stock Navigation solution. I was wondering if anyone has added anything while still using the stock screen.

Does it use a standard video connector? How is the picture quality? I'm not looking for anything spectacular just decent.

No standard video connector, and not even what I'm sure you'd call standard video interface. The interface is RGBs (RGB sync,) which basically means it's similar to a computer monitor input, but only has one sync line instead of 2. It's also lower frequency (I've heard 15Hz, but that may have been a typo of 15kHz horizontal frequency, which if a something x 480 display would be about 30Hz.)
There are adapters available, but they're a few hundred $.

I did fear the crappiness of the stock screen... I know that I can see the scanlines most of the time on the stock system and it gets bad interference from the other electronics.
I will be using the AVelectronics switcher from mazdaparts to get video on to the screen. Has anyone used the stock screen with a computer and actually made it work? And how does it look?
