Does anyone know what the pressure setpoint is on the tire pressure monitoring system? My dealer didn't know, and I didn't see it in the owner's manual. After 2.5 weeks of ownership, the TPMS alert came on, and I found one tire was at 27 psi. Mfr recommended pressure for the 18 inch Potenza is 32 psi. I have never had low profile tires before. Would anyone recommend adding a few psi to the mfr recommended pressure to protect the rims?

I was having a conversation with a Mazda Master Technician a couple of weeks ago, who was in training for the RX-8 at the time. I asked this question, and he researched it the next day.
The factory setting is 32psi, and the TPMS is set for +8 to -5 from there - BUT - it is adjustable by the dealer!
When it is connected to the software system, there are individual boxes they can select to vary a large amount of the settings for the car. The first 4 boxes on the screen are for the individual TPMS sensors!
So, if you typically run a different pressure, have the new pressure "dialed in" at the dealer, and problem should go away...

some cars must have been set differently.
several people on this forum, including myself and also freind who isn't on this forum, have reported the light coming on with the tire being only 2 pounds low.
I keep them at 34 pounds. The sidewall i believe states that tires can go up to 51psi. I think 32 is a little low. Probably to reduce the harsh ride.

Hi Storm,
Check out this MNAO TPMS service bulletin.
http://www.finishlineperformance.com/rx8/docs/02-002-03.html
It indicates that if the tire pressure is less than 26 PSI or more than 49 PSI, the TPMS warning lamp and buzzer will sound.
Thanks,
