View Full Version : Canadian dollar at par!

Maybe now us Canadians won't continue to get ripped off, though any actual consumer benefit may still take a while. Just came back from two weeks in the States and EVERYTHING is sofa-king cheap! A bike I have my eye on lists for 18,900 here, and I saw it for $11,800 over there. A $60 CND. fill up here costs me $38 USD down there!!
Anyone gonna take advantage now?
Willicuddy 09-21-2007, 12:24 AM Now if Paypal would hurry up and get with the trend, they are still at like .94 last I looked.

Smokin_LaLa 09-21-2007, 07:48 PM Too bad we canadians still getting the shaft when buying things here or buying from US companies that sell here, they are still charging it high
alnielsen 09-21-2007, 08:25 PM There may be parity in the 2 dollars, but there will still be a difference in taxes. That is why Canadians will still be paying more.
Sorry.
qtwre 09-22-2007, 12:02 PM No, he's talking about the (at least seemingly) unjustified price difference between the american price and canadian price of many products. ie. Greeting cards. $3.99USD, $4.99CDN. Are all those game systems still $100 in CDN? I think they are.
I don't mind taxes. Taxes are what fuel social services.
BlueFrenzy 09-23-2007, 02:20 PM I spoke to a friend who used to to work for Toyota Canada and asked him about the price discrepancy. He basically told me that unfortunately, as long as we accept the prices set, we're not going to see that much price change. Unless the sales drastically drop, there's no real market pressure to drop prices. I guess that goes for all goods (ie. books, clothing, etc)
DARKMAZ8 09-24-2007, 08:33 AM Please don't tell me I'm actually reading this. The difference in price is a shipping thing and not an exchange thing. It simply costs more for your goods because Canada is a smaller market which results in less quantity bought and more $$$ to ship there.
Dummyz:rolleyes:
DARKMAZ8 09-24-2007, 08:39 AM BTW.....I live in both countries and will be the first to tell you that this higher canadian dollar is a huge negative for the Canadian economy because they rely heavily on their exporting income.
