I'm looking for an exhaust that would give my 4AT a bassier sound. New or 2nd hand also can.

Looking for gauges - water temp, oil temp and oil pressure. Defi or autogauge???

For bassier sound, i recommend AutoExe, and it improve the low end revving respond too, good for 4AT. I am looking for the gauge also :p

its a cat-back system. Which means, its bolted on after the midpipe.

Asking any experts (Coupe07, gfoo and many more) here who can help,

I thought the basic structure and making of all cars are the same (at least derived from the same theory)... There are only pistons and rotary engines. I thought exhaust system should work on both types of engines. Maybe just need some adjustments and modifications.

Pardon me for my ignorance... at least I trying to learn more about my car.

Enlightenment anyone???

Well you can do 3-1 extractor like most aftermarkets...... But bare in mind, extractor is harder to make, bendings are needed..... 3 smaller pipes with lead to a larger pipe, all 3 smaller pipes must have equal lenght.....

exhaust system does work on all engines. But design and structure not same. Rotary dun work the same as piston. If not 1.3litres how to churn out so high horse power?

anyway, since u said i'm mocking at u, i better keep my mouth shut. juz take me as an ignorant fool blattering my mouth off.

Hi, using Trust Ti on my 6AT. I cannot comment on the performance, cuz i did not try the other exos before. Even the stock one, I am on it for 1 hour (during running in) before the ti is installed. The sound of it is great and one of the loudest exos available.

I got it from Gan Motorsports for about 2k (i cannot remember the exact price, have to check). I dunno if the price of it is the same now.

Think there is a separate thread on trust ti, more info there.

Dun worry... it's just a small misunderstanding... as you know, it's difficult to interpret the tone of voice on the internet, so such skirmishes are really common due to misunderstanding and quick responses. Coupe07 and the guys at MG are really nice guys, so dun worry about doing biz with MG.

P.S: Not related to MG other than being a customer :)

We have deal twice in the past. Their workmanship is good. Service is not bad.

We have some misunderstandings about the ganador mirror but it was solved amicably. So I thought we should concentrate on doing business and make both parties happy. Furthermore, Coupe07's house and mine are just one or two small lanes apart.

Glad to know tat the misunderstanding had been sorted out.

For LTA compliant exhaust, i know so far oni Trust, fujisubo or knightsports

If u really wan $ well spent, make sure u get exhaust that can provide some gain.

Rx 8 is a very sensitive car, the japs had managed to squeeze alot of hp from the 13B while making it compliant with emission standards.

So adding more things can sometime lead to power lost, so do shop around, frm wat I gather, the best gain exhaust is not street legal !

If you manage to squeeze some usefulness out of your grey matter, you would have figured out that coupe07 does not push his own products here precisely because he runs his own workshop. If I put on a cat back system, is it advisable to put a high flow cat between the extractor and the cat back???

if u really did ur homework...... extractor if u change, can give u good hp...

cat, high flow, oso must see brands. Check out gfoo blogs on cat.

Follow US style, they will tell u, straight thru, or high flow good. Extractor change no power.

But then i can put u thru a test with ur stock 4AT with another 4AT with full exhaust change, either run side by side or go thru dyno. U wan obvious result, do it side by side. If stock win, i tear down my signboard...

Don't need to do test. Sure lose...It is obvious that the stock 4AT can never win another 4AT with full exhaust change. I think it is not advisable to change the extractor...

Change the cat to high flow. From Gfoo blogs, he recommends KS to improve the flow. Does it look exactly like the stock cat? so that the people at the inspection centre can't differentiate it.

Is your Autoexe LTA-approved already?

Don't need to do test. Sure lose...It is obvious that the stock 4AT can never win another 4AT with full exhaust change. I think it is not advisable to change the extractor...

Change the cat to high flow. From Gfoo blogs, he recommends KS to improve the flow. Does it look exactly like the stock cat? so that the people at the inspection centre can't differentiate it.

Is your Autoexe LTA-approved already?

Muscleman, my two cent hor:
- An AT with just catback change has a higher propensity to LOSE to a stock 4AT. For a proper setup, you need to tune (ie mix and match) an ideal setup from intake to exhaust - too much flow you lose backpressure and you are farked. Too little flow might as well dun do in the first place. Also keep in mind sound/bass that you wanna achieve.

For sure, and at least on my setup:
Revi Ram air + closed box -> RE extractor -> KS cat -> Autoexe exhos
provides a proven, and substantial speed increase. it may sound chapalang with so many brands, but it does deliver and i like it. If in doubt, closer to the holidays, i invite any non-turbo/super 4AT to do a run with me.

Sorry for not being able to get into the forums these couple of months but am v v busy.

If you need more info, please msn gfoo@msn.com and where i am free, i will try my best to reply!

btw, i felt the BIGGEST gain when i lup in the RE amemiya extractor, average gain with just the KS cat and autoexe, and not-mentionable with just the autoexe.

Now, the sound of my setup when car is warmed up at idle traffic light is maciam ferrari - not too loud, but very noticeable with a very warm tone. :)

So can change extractor? look like can only use RE extractor (is it the only one out in the market?)

I would like to have that sound maciam like ferrari...

But one question...
The RE extractor, KS Cat and Autoexe cat back... are these LTA approved... Don't wish to get involved with the law...

actually NONE of them are approved. if you make your car full of stickers, super high bar counter spoiler, and you have that kinda sound - higher chance TP gives you love.

if like mine sleeping tiger crouching kitten, TP thinks its stock.

of course if you have a mohawk like somebody, i think you drive perodua also kena caught :)

for a new 8 owner, I'm quite impressed by the sound of my stock ride. But, given some extra cents in my bank account, I will bet everything on the RE set up..........thats the way to go.............

But if you are too concerned about approval, you might have to compromise performance then!

Have never come across any ride that comes wif all approved performance parts that produces ultimate results.

jus my 2 nut cents....:Eyecrazy:

I thought RE exhaust is only applicable to 6MT... Mine a 4AT. So I don't think can.

My Car's brake is stock. I just put brembo caliper cover only:)

Not going for tracking so no point getting a good brake. Anyway, you seen how I drive... can only smell your smoke :lol2:

I settle the exhaust and gauge first. Then Tein coilover and then brake (maybe endless or the real brembo).

yo bro if you looking for brakes i'm selling off mine 6MT front brakes with autoexe rotor and pads, comes with the brake line also, all for just 1k lor :) no worries if you dun want

Aiyo...another cyber hero...if u meant wat u say n wanna let other noe how pai
kia bro coupe07 is, y dun u juz use ur real nick instead of hiding behind a new acc
to act noble n talk big?

If u think ur MM modded car is very very fast...I'd love to have a go at it...u prefer
the twisties or a short drag? Dun worry, my car is nothing but a innocent little
lamb that is very slow one...Nothing hostile...juz a little friendly competition where
we can learn from each other...

I think all I'm saying is that it is totally unnecessary for u to come out of the blue
n start pointing ur fingers at other pple while hiding behind ur computer screen...
Instead, u might wanna consider growing 2 of those rounds thing we boys or
men hide inside our pants (no offence, ladies...) before u start to act all noble n
stuff...we're all here to learn from each other, so if u have nothing constructive
to say, u can of coz choose to be a little more discreet...

Still looking for exhaust, prefer a cat back.

Bro gfoo,

Ideal set up:

1)revi intake - is it cool air intake?
2)simota closed box
3)Extractor or exhaust manifold
4)cat converter
5)cat back exhaust

With the above, sure can improve performance significantly. Right?

But I do not know any garage which can help me to send the car for inspection (during the third year) cos I don't think extractor & cat converter are LTA approved.

Thanks in advance.

Revi intake is a ram air duct + closed box filter. dun waste time on simota. whether you get gains depends on the brand/type of mod you get. e.g. simota + trust catback i PAO you sure lose power

Interesting thread... glad that the fire was put out already and we can now concentrate on learning what is good for our 8's breathing system.

gfoo and coupe07, you guys know about the system well, care to explain what sort of set up is good for our 8? There are members here that have cat poke, cat remove, cat back, straight pipe, relocate the O2 sensor etc etc... will this create problem for our 8? If yes, what sort of problem have you seen or experienced?

What do we need to work on getting the best flow from intake to exhaust from your experience or recommendation?

Does it require a different set up or system for MT vs AT?

Thank you... ;)

i dun know the system as well as coupe07 lor, me consumer nia, only know how to tkss.

cat poke- dunno simi lai eh
cat remove - frees up exhaust flow, good for MT, AT needs backpressure rem, PLUS those stand behind sure die

straight pipe - isn't this cat remove?
relocate o2 sensor - for what?

whatever you wanna do, get from performance tuners like RE, KS, Auto and even RB. dun do silly things like go to Manz, FK to save money.

and pls, when you do start installing stuff, try to buy those that doesn't need too much playing around with SENSORS.

"cat poke- dunno simi lai eh" - some members here poke a hole in their cat...

"relocate o2 sensor - for what?" - some members has relocate the O2 sendor further back since they remove cat...

"cat remove - frees up exhaust flow, good for MT, AT needs backpressure rem, PLUS those stand behind sure die" - does it mean that it is OK to remove cat and is good for MT but not for AT?

Hmmmm. i dunno how to advise you - all i can say is that 2 close bros, 1 AT and 1 MT have, have had their 8 catch fire in the past few months or so.

Now i ain't saying that exhaust issues caused the fires, but the 8 is finicky and every small change esp to engine/exhos plays a determining part. So unless it's been proven to work and is meant for your ride, i would stay far far away - esp for kuitao.

It's like you buy a PP but decide to use a VC mainspring to mod the watch - bo lee yew
