View Full Version : Colorado? Omicron 10-11-2003, 07:21 PM Any RX-8 owners out there from Colorado, or am I the first to get one? Bolder8 10-12-2003, 09:30 PM There are a few here from what I can gather. Picked mine up last week and love it! Saw another one on the road for the first time Saturday morning. Digisan 10-13-2003, 12:30 AM Ordered in Jan, picked it up in July, first allotment. Omicron 10-15-2003, 11:17 AM Bolder8, you might have seen me Saturday as I was down Denver way to get my car detailed. Mine's Titanium... is that the color you saw? So where did you both get your cars? I got mine at Mazda of Lakewood and have been really happy with them. Kewl 10-19-2003, 05:30 PM How about New Mexico.....I'm in Albuquerque. I've only seen one other RX8 around town, but surely there are more. Jazzman 10-19-2003, 08:20 PM I got mine in early Sept. I was trying to figure out the best license plates (color) for my car, and settled for the old personalized blue plates that I had on my Miata. I didn't want green or white ones. 2004 Titanium Gray 6 speed sport with Navigation. Black cloth seats. I'm in Castle Rock. ozbot87 10-20-2003, 01:11 AM Hey dude, I live in Socorro, (70 miles south). I saw a red RX-8 on I-25 approaching the Big I (I have the driver a thunbs up showing my approval). I also saw a yellow one in Los Alamos and a green one here in Socorro. By the way, at what dealer did you get your car? doccable 11-02-2003, 08:28 PM Hi all - I'm just curious if anyone would be interested in setting up a meet in Ft. Collins some weekend soon, assuming the weather is good. -Doc serff 11-10-2003, 05:13 AM I've been drooling over the 8 since like January of this year. I haven't bought one yet (almost did in july, then my wife told me she was pregnant...:D ), but my heart is set on one. I should have one within a year, so it is good to hear there are other colorado people on here as well. We will all have to get together for a drive. Digisan 11-10-2003, 05:51 AM Mountain people coming out of the woodwork, nice :) serff 11-10-2003, 06:24 AM haha...nice. where you at digisan? Love the vehicle, will probably buy before year end. Don't know if you'd want me to join a meet (I'm in Denver) but I'd love to check out what you think of your 8s. BTW, now that it has snowed, anybody gone out? How is the car in snow? I'm spoiled by 4wd, but wonder if the 8 does ok in winter driving. Do you feel the need to buy snow tires? Thanks... serff 11-24-2003, 01:04 AM Originally posted by Icanrel-8 Hi, all, I'm new to posting --just joined but frequent lurker. Love the vehicle, will probably buy before year end. I'm spoiled by 4wd, but wonder if the 8 does ok in winter driving. Do you feel the need to buy snow tires? Thanks... Welcome to the forum (or at least to posting)! ;) I'm in the same boat as you, don't own one yet, but really want one. Any way, about your question about the snow. There are a ton of posts from people in Canada saying that IF you have snow tires, the 8 drives great. Almost everyone that I have read says don't even try to drive it in the snow with the stock performance tires. you won't get any where except into a curb or someone elses car. I'm planning on buying either just snow tires, or probably 17" wheels and some blizzacks or something like that. The new wheels and tires might be cheaper in the long run, don't know though. haven't looked into it that much. I've just heard that 18" winter tires can run from like $800-1500. Hope that helps. What kind of 8 are you lookin to get? serff Icanrel-8 11-24-2003, 11:06 PM Hey, thanks for the welcome! I already like it here. I'm close enough to a decision on all the options, etc., to say that I'm going to buy a 6spd, probably a GT, with nav ( I work in real estate, so I can excuse it as a work requirement...), color Titanium or silver. Haven't chosen an interior color, so I'll probably see what's on the way in on the truck. Probably prefer black... So if folks in Canada are dealing with snow, I can. Besides, there is only snow on the ground for a few actual days here, and I own a 1965 Land Rover for days when it may be too deep for Mazda. Or, maybe I can just swap over my Rover's studded snows in the winter... give the car about 14 inches of clearance... the Rocky Mountain Edition RX-8! :D Omicron 11-25-2003, 12:54 PM LOL!!!!!! :D :D :D I can just see an RX-8 with them big 'ol SUV meats on it!!! ROTFLMAO!!!! :D :D :D Welcome, Icanrel-8. Glad to have you here. Serff and Icanrel-8, as far as I'm concerned, you guys are BOTH welcome at a meet if and when we have one, regardless of whether or not you have an 8 of your own yet. If you think you'd like to come, please come over to the "Meet in Colorado?" thread one level up, here http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14603 and put your name on unofficial list of interested parties. doccable 12-02-2003, 04:45 PM I made the mistake of pricing snow tires, found out that pretty much no one makes tires that will fit the 18" wheels, at least of reasonable cost, that will fit into the wheel wells. I was told that I could buy a set of 17" wheels and snow tires starting around $1500... and that's before messing around with the tire pressure sensors... I think my RX will stay in the garage when it snows. :( serff 12-02-2003, 05:00 PM does anyone know if it has been discovered that the 16" stock rims from the non-GT model will fit over the breaks of the GT? This might bring cost down too... Omicron 12-02-2003, 06:16 PM Good idea Serff, but I have not looked into it. I drive my GC whenever the roads get crappy... not only because it has mass, traction, and 4 wheel drive, but also because it won't break my heart if someone hits me. If somebody did that to my '8, the way I feel aout it right now I'd prolly break down and cry on the spot. :) Doc, I'm interested in snow tires too, and/or alternate wheels that'll work with the TPMS. I paid attention for a while in the wheel and tire forum, and came to the conclusion that I could either (a) spend a bunch of money to get wheels now that will accept the TPMS transmitters (like $500/wheel and up) or I could (b) get a set of replacement wheels from Mazda, same as what's on the car now, for about $400 each, including sensors, or (c) wait a year or so till more 18" rims are on the market. I chose (c) because TPMS is becoming required by law in '05, so I figure pretty much all aftermarket wheels will be made to take the sensors by end of next year. Also this'll mean prices will come down. And finally, I need to force myself to drive my GC anyway or it'll just rot away. :D BTW, there is a good deal on 18" snow tires on eBay... check this out: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33745&item=2446406089 . So Mazda factory wheels, $1600 + Dunlop M2 $400 = $2000. A set of used wheels in the "for sale" forum here seem to go for around $600 for a set of 4. Tire pressure sensors are $75-$100 each. gpsvorndb 12-08-2003, 12:44 PM I've been watching the board for awhile. Just registered. Bought my car at Mazda of Lakewood in July. Winning Blue, everything except Nav. 6,200 miles, no issues. Previous Mazdas: '82 RX-7, '73 REPU, '90 Miata. serff 12-08-2003, 01:41 PM nice, welcome to the board! How are you liking hte car so far? And Mazda of Lakewood is where I bought MY car. :D So you interested in joining us for a meet, sometime in the spring? gpsvorndb 12-15-2003, 10:59 AM Sorry for the late reply. I've been offline for awhile. A meet next spring would be fun. Or, anytime sooner providing the roads are in decent shape. Omicron 12-15-2003, 11:14 AM Excellent! Keep an eye on the "Meet" thread in this forum for more info. Landon_Starr 12-20-2003, 01:54 PM I'd be interested in the meet, too....however, I'm in Utah. I'm assuming Fort Collins is in Colorado? I bought the sport velocity Red, put custom aftermarket red/black leather interior, an upgraded sunroof (scary, I know), plus I've put on some 20" lexani roma wheels. I'm running S0-3 tires, which have the AQII technology, so I'm doing wonderful in the snow. Haven't had any serious snow as of yet. I'm planning on piggybacking the ECU, possibly with Canzoomer's unit, throwing on the K&N intake, and exhaust by spring. --L Omicron 12-20-2003, 05:44 PM Hey Landon, welcome, and congrats on the car! I got your PM, and will be in touch about the meet. Fort Collins is indeed in Colorado, just North of Denver. Feel like making a road trip out here in the spring? :D blacksheep 01-02-2004, 03:51 AM Hi there. I grew up in Fort Collins where I had two 1st gen RX-7's. Colorado was such a great state to own a rotary in! So many interesting places and roads to drive. During May of '95, I followed two brand new Corvettes down from Estes Park before the tourist season. They were racing each other and I stayed on their back ends all the way down in my '84 GSL-SE. Now I'm out in the midwest trying to decide if I should get an RX-8 while I'm here? You are all very lucky to live in Colorado... Indiana just does not have any interesting roads to drive. Hey Doc, have you ever been on the road between Encampment and Baggs, WY? When I was a kid it was a dirt road (my grandparents had a ranch near there), but in '94 it was paved. Every time that I would drive it after it was paved, there were hardly any cars, lot of curves... great for a RX. Just watch out since it's open range. doccable 01-10-2004, 08:19 PM Originally posted by grogiefrog I checked out the "Colorado" page here to see if I recognized anyone that I knew from my old RX-7 days. I plan on taking numerous trips all over the place when the weather decides to cooperate. Including from Laramie to Walden, then to Saratoga, and make the big (130 mile or so), "scenic trip" through the Snowys... Obviously, I can't do it right now, with the 30-mile stretch from Centennial Westbound being closed for the season. :( I haven't made too many trips yet, (having just got my 8 in October), aside from Laramie to Cheyenne on Happy Jack Rd., and of course, Laramie to Ft. Collins on US 287. Just did that today, that road is fantastic, even with the increased amount of traffic... I've driven a whole lot of "open range" road since moving here five years ago... I've had a couple of close calls with both cattle, and antelope! I think you need to buy yourself an 8, take some vacation time, and head out here for one of our "mini-meets", or the big meet we are planning. (No date set, we will be discussing this at our first mini-meet, visit our website link is on my signature!) We will be announcing possible future dates and locales soon! If I may, why, DEAR GOD, MAN - why Indiana? :) Omicron 01-11-2004, 12:19 AM Originally posted by blacksheep Hi there. I'm from Loveland and just picked up my lightening yellow 8 on 12.28 Hiya Blacksheep, WELCOME, and Congrats!!! on your '8. You're gonna love it! I'm just down the road from you in Longmont, so I bet your '8 will be the first one I see on the road besides mine. I've had mine since 10/7 and have YET to see another one except at the dealership, and Doccable's car when we've gotten together. It's cool having such a unique, hot, and unusual car. What do you think of all the attention you get in your car? Originally posted by grogiefrog I checked out the "Colorado" page here to see if I recognized anyone that I knew from my old RX-7 days. I agree with Doc, you need to buy an '8 and take a road trip out here! :D grogiefrog 01-11-2004, 02:16 PM Doc, I met my wife at CSU. She's a bio-chemist here with Dow AgroSciences. We're here until she retires in 24 years. We want to retire in Wyoming... somewhere around Laramie. In Indiana they salt the roads so much in the winter. It just breaks up the roads and causes major rocks flying around, not to mention that there is a rock quarry that I go by on the way to work with a lot of uncovered dump trucks. Then being the "crossroads of the nation" we have A LOT of truck traffic. You can imagine the rock chips that my wife and I have on our cars. The country roads here are narrow, straight, and crowded... a bit boring. This just makes it hard to have a nice car. I loved my RX-7's, and I always wished that I could have bought one that was brand new to baby from the start. In '94 I bought a '84 GSL-SE, and it was so much fun. I can see that the RX-8 is everything that I wished that my '84 was. I do want an RX-8, but if I wait until Spring of 2005 it can be a weekend car that I can selectively drive (my current car will be paid off by then). Believe me, I am looking forward to road trips back to CO/WY. Currently each year we do drive back to see our families. My father-in-law owns an auto body shop in Denver and I tend to have him repaint a hood/fender on one our cars. I use to love driving the roads that you mentioned. Great wide open roads. Do check out the road from Encampment to Baggs during the summer. One of the best roads that I have been on. Beautiful twisty road! Next time that you go through Saratoga, check out the Saratoga Inn. http://www.saratogainn.com Plus, is there a Mazda dealer in Laramie, or did you buy from Fort Collins? doccable 01-11-2004, 02:51 PM grogie, Thanks for the link! Waaaay to cool! I'm sure there are worse places to end up than Indiana... although, I can't think of too many, :D (Aside from most of the tornado alley states). As far as dealerships go... no, there isn't a Mazda dealer here, and no, I didn't buy from Ft. Collins, I actually bought from a dealer in Colorado Springs; who delivered it to me, and gave me about 3k off the sticker! Good idea on waiting until spring for buying an 8... mine is a weekend car only. Just a suggestion; why not join the Rocky Mountain RX-8 club? We'd be happy to have you as a member! Just click on the link in red in my signature and follow the links on the site. What's you summer schedule looking like? We can probably schedule one of our mini-meets to coincide with one of your visits back this way! -Doccable rstrieby 01-12-2004, 11:45 AM Hey Blacksheep. I beat you by one day (12/27 from Gateway Mazda). I am SW of Loveland & cruise to Longmont down CR23. Nice to know there are two in Loveland. This one is Silver. It's my second rotary with the first being an R-100...... and that is a story for another post. Great Colorado postings... I'll be watching.... and waiting for dry mountain roads :-) doccable 01-12-2004, 12:08 PM Hi rstrieby! Have you had a chance to check out the Rocky Mountain RX-8 Club? Hope you don't mind me posting here. I signed up a few months back when I was doing some research on the RX8. I've actually been lurking on the board here for awhile, but signed up just for fun. Anyway, I own a '93 RX7 R1. I'm going to be moving to Colorado probably in the spring of '05. Somewhere near Denver. I've been looking at the NW side of Denver (Longmont, Boulder), and the Fort Collins/Loveland area as well. I've been on your sister site www.rx7club.com for years now, but recently while looking for a local (to Colorado/Denver) Rotary Car club, I've been having trouble locating one. I see that you guys have an RX8 club, but didn't know if you knew of a generic Rotary club local to you. Any help would be fantastic. Thanks. I can't wait to move out there (been a life long dream of mine). Also, if anyone has any tips on where exactly to live (Longmont is at the top of my list at the present time), feel free to PM me. :) Thanks again. serff 09-07-2004, 11:32 AM Hey zmarko, You should deffinately come check out the Rocky Mountain RX8 club website. Joz 05-11-2005, 10:29 PM Hold the phone! I'm not done yet! Now I remember: I have an account, but when I try to log in all I get is: Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/rockymou/public_html/config.php:3) in /home/rockymou/public_html/mainfile.php on line 188 Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/rockymou/public_html/config.php:3) in /home/rockymou/public_html/modules/Your_Account/index.php on line 700 Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/rockymou/public_html/config.php:3) in /home/rockymou/public_html/modules/Your_Account/index.php on line 745 Like literally! No title, no banner, background, nothing else. I can view the site (with the pesky banner error) but just in a 'read-only' mode. Maybe my RMRX8C account is dorked. kreuznach 06-02-2005, 12:58 AM Howdy all. I'm working down in the Springs for the next few weeks. I'm looking for a good road to kill and hour or two on in the evenings. Something twisty and not too much traffic. Anyone know of a good road in the area? Thanks in advance. doccable 06-02-2005, 04:28 PM Hey, kreuznach - ya gonna make the meet? I'm planning a caravan if ya wanna join! (From Laramie/Ft. Collins) :D I was just down in the Springs a month ago, and we went up to Cripple Creek on hiway 24, it wasn't bad, especially on Monday morning, there wasn't any traffic at all on the way down. igotanocho 06-20-2005, 02:03 PM Hey all just found this site a couple of weeks ago and decided to post, first forum i have been on but founds lots of useful information. I live in the North Denver area have had my 8 since September. Oh and despite what anyone says I think they are GREAT cars! :D doccable 06-21-2005, 12:06 AM Hi there, igotanocho! There is an absolute wealth of info on this site -- use it. :) Also, have you had a chance to check out the RMRX8Club site (http://rockymountainrx8.com/)? If you want, you can PM me for more info! Welcome to the forums!:D igotanocho 06-22-2005, 04:19 PM Thanks for the welcome and I checked out the site and have the same name doesnt seem to be as busy as these forums though. And you are right too much stuff to read on these forums. I dont have anything done to mine yet, gotta save up but i think the first things from what i read that i am going to do is the REVi Intake, Hymee exhaust and a lightweight flywheel. Let me know if there are other things that i should consider or search for on the forums. Oh yeah any place in the Denver area that might be able to get these for me or a perfomance shop that is recommended for rotaries, I went to Sil-Terhar and didnt like the attitude that I got from the service people there. Thanks :) Zuhalter Vati 07-06-2005, 11:15 PM I was just seeing how active this forum is and also wanted to see how many other Shinka owners are in CO. I hope to get involved in some of the events around the area! Swedishmax 07-09-2005, 02:49 PM hey guys, im from the Springs....i was wondering if anybody knows a good shop around colorado who would be able to install the Greddy Turbo kit. That's the only reason i have'nt bought it yet, the places around the springs don't seem to be to trust worthy. thanks -Max Zuhalter Vati 07-12-2005, 03:26 AM Are there any RX8 events happening in Colorado anytime soon? I have seen 2 other RX-8s in Loveland since I got mine. One was a Titanium grey and one was a Yellow. They were both on 287 Anyway, let me know as I really want to meet more 8 owners igotanocho 07-13-2005, 05:44 PM Hey Zur I think the last one they had was at the beginning of June I had to work that weekend or I probably would have showed. By any chance do you live in the Broomfield area? Thats the only place I have seen a Shinka around north denver, my buddy has a blue 8 as well he just isnt into the forum thing i guess so i let him know of all the stuff I find on here. I also wouldnt mind if people were getting together at some time sounds like it would be a good time. I really want to see a bunch of 8's together, would be fun as hell. Glad to see someone else on the Colorado forum, was beginning to wonder! CUE2's RX-8 07-13-2005, 11:23 PM SwedishMax: Nice car . . . too bad I can't help you with the Greddy turbo install info. Zuhalter & igotnocho: I live in Broomfield and work in Boulder. I know Omicron is up here (Boulder area) too. There are at least of few of us in this area. Welcome! djgiron 07-25-2005, 12:49 PM Well I am from Aurora, as soon as I return from Iraq (next march) my first purchase will be a White GT :) Looking forward to that! Jumah 07-29-2005, 03:47 PM Heyas all. LONG time lurker here. I and my Nordic Green GT live in Westminster, almost Broomfield. Have only seen one Shinka, and it was southbound on Wadsworth Blvd about 3 weeks ago, between 88th and 80th Aves. As far as a mechanic is concerned, the only place I know of that I would readily trust is Rotary Specialists in Denver. Their shop as I recall is off Santa Fe and Evans or Dartmouth. I had some work done on my '88 RX-7 a few years back and they where great. Anyway, I just wanted to say hello finally and drop that on y'all since there were questions about a mechanic. Zuhalter Vati 07-29-2005, 11:55 PM Heyas all. LONG time lurker here. I and my Nordic Green GT live in Westminster, almost Broomfield. Yeah the Shinka was quite possibly mine. I bought it about that time. (July 4th) and have been to the dealer once. The Dealer is right off of Wads and HWY 36. Were you in your 8? I always keep an eye out and must have missed you if you were. CUE2's RX-8 07-29-2005, 11:56 PM Welcome Jumah and congrats on the Green GT. You should see me driving around, as I live next to Standley Lake and always cruise down Wadsworth. Enjoy the ride! Jumah 07-30-2005, 02:03 PM Yeah the Shinka was quite possibly mine. I bought it about that time. (July 4th) and have been to the dealer once. The Dealer is right off of Wads and HWY 36. Were you in your 8? I always keep an eye out and must have missed you if you were. It's pretty much all I drive. I usually wave at other 8's when I see them. there are 2 or 3 that regularly run C-470 about the same time I do on weekdays, I think they all are under the impression I am insane for waving at them every time I see them :) Standly Lake uh? Is that the black one that buried me on 104th Ave a few months ago at like 5am? I freaking ground 2nd that morning. How embarrassing is that? (And here I am admitting it. lol) I don't mind being out driven by another 8 owner though, was laughing my @$$ off the rest of the way to work that day. Anyway, thanks for the welcome all. I am sure we will be seeing eachother on the roads!! igotanocho 08-01-2005, 04:39 PM Yeah i get that too sometimes. I at least try to honk if I don't see the 8 until it's too late. I get the same weird looks, like I am stupid or something. I dont really care though i would give a wave to any fellow 8er. :D CUE2's RX-8 08-01-2005, 06:14 PM Jumah, it wasn't me that burned you on 104th. I have a red RX-8, and that's too early in the morning for me to race. :D Jumah 08-01-2005, 11:29 PM Jumah, it wasn't me that burned you on 104th. I have a red RX-8, and that's too early in the morning for me to race. :D It's the only time I would do it on 104th. And then only in the summer. Would never do that during th eschool year. I have a vested interest in that. School zones are like, the one place I can manage to keep it under the posted limit. Oh BTW, I spoke with Navteq today about map updates. The disc will be available this month for around $199, and Mazda is supposed to send out a firmware update for those of us with early model '04's So be on the look out for that disc, and if you don't get it by the end of the month, call the dealership, as the new maps won't work on your navi without the update. CUE2's RX-8 08-03-2005, 04:39 PM I don't know about spending $200 on the new disc. They would need to remove that (darn) Caution startup screen, and fill it with some cooler, 3D graphics before I would consider it. Overall, I'm very happy with my current NavTeq disc, so I'll wait until I see the final product offering. RockyMtnHi 08-10-2005, 10:54 PM Hi Jumah, keep an eye out for the hot yellow in your neck of the woods and don't stop waving. You might see me as I zip around from school to school in the Adams 12 area. Mostly anywhere from 136th to 104th and Lowell to Colorado Blvd. Jumah 08-11-2005, 02:06 PM Hi Jumah, keep an eye out for the hot yellow in your neck of the woods and don't stop waving. You might see me as I zip around from school to school in the Adams 12 area. Mostly anywhere from 136th to 104th and Lowell to Colorado Blvd. Hey my kids go to school in adams 12. (Charter school). Small world. I doubt I could stop waving even if i wanted to. I used to be a field tech for TCI (Then AT&T Broadband, then Comcast.... Next?!) And we had a standing unwritten policy of waving to one another as we passed on the streets between jobs..... I still wave at them from my personal vehicle out of habbit. Talk about getting crazy looks, You can see it on their faces, "Who is this fool in the nice car waving at me for no aparent reason....." *sigh* And such is my life....................... Silver Shot 09-09-2005, 03:03 PM I'm down in Colorado Springs. Owner as of late July  . Jumah 09-10-2005, 10:24 AM Heyas Silver Shot! Gratz on your new 8 and welcome to the forums! 5280RX8 09-21-2005, 11:28 PM Finally got my baby, (ok I got it on 8-20 but I've been too busy driving to post :) Nordica Green GT with Chapparal interior. And just in time for winter. WOOHOO!! Time to start lookin for a beater of a 4x4 for the snow days. :) Zuhalter Vati 09-29-2005, 05:42 PM Why is Colorado so damn quite? :D mlx8 10-04-2005, 12:11 PM Getting ready for PPIR Saturday (open to all cars/marques) and Sunday (Ferrari of Denver Customer Appreciation event, .... well it is a red car.) Just had Mike Mowry, Precission Imports on 4444 S Federal put in a Tien "Flex" coil over kit; along with a full, new set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 265/35's and order in a set of (? I think these will be) the "93c" compound Performance Friction brake pads. If you want some Rocky Mountain division noise Zuhalter, you should get your self and your car down to PPIR for at least Saturday's event. I don't think it's not too late to contact QuickChicks (Leslie Howard) and get signed up. Cheers Silver Shot 10-17-2005, 01:45 PM Hey, it's supposed to be nice next weekend. Anyone interested in one last meet before the weather turns completely sour? Zuhalter Vati 10-17-2005, 11:43 PM I would love to this weekend, but I am going to be driving my 8 down to New Mexico. I would be down for anytime after that though. Silver Shot 10-18-2005, 08:32 PM Well, I deploy fairly soon, so just wanted to get in some cruisin before I go. What's goin on down in New Mexico? Zuhalter Vati 10-20-2005, 04:10 AM Just have family stuff down there. I plan on being back in Colorado next week and would love to get the colorado people together. MichaelB145 10-25-2005, 02:47 AM We are having the final Rotary meet of the year Sunday Nov 6th at Hamburger Stand (3rd and Union) at 12pm. Hope to see a bunch of you guys there! Will a moderator please send this message out to everyones email for those who rarely check the board? Mike B w/ 3rd Gen RX-7 Mile High Rotary President Yes...I will finally have my finished FD there.....heres some pics http://photobucket.com/albums/y34/MichaelB145/ I tried to post on RockymountainRX8 but it came up with an error....can someone please post on there for me? Joz 10-26-2005, 08:28 AM Mike, Where? Denver? Colorado Springs? Omnicron may be able to help you post it on RockymountainRX8. I won't be able to go as I'm finishing up the year's Motorcycle Trials State Championship circut on the 6th but it's good to know that we're still around. Cheers! -Joz- Zuhalter Vati 10-26-2005, 02:35 PM I'll be there for sure. Joz, that is in Lakewood. 3rd and Union. It is just off of Alameda and Union and near 6th and Sims. BTW do you drive a titanium grey with strakes? Also, I believe the Rockymountain forum is no longer working. I may be wrong, but at the last meet we discussed removing it for lack of traffic and most people come here. Joz 10-26-2005, 09:08 PM Mine is Silver w/ strakes. I'm mostly on the east side of Centennial with regular trips to Erie. I've removed my badges too (but still haven't filled in the holes!). I've been driving with just the holes since Feburary. I REALLY need to get them filled and painted! Sorry for the confusion about Lakewood. I may be one of the only ones keeping the hit counter working on the Rockymountain site (if there is one). I have it as my home page in IE. 98% of the time I use Firefox, but have to do my timecard in IE. If you think there's traffic it may just be me hitting the site. I don't think it's been updated for quite a while and this site is quite good as long as us Coloradans keep checking in on our forum. I keep loading the site just in case something is going on and to help keep it alive if we need it. Zuhalter Vati 10-26-2005, 09:20 PM Maybe it was a silver I saw driving down University. I only caught a glimpse. I saw a Blue and a Yellow on NB I25 today, why don't I ever see any when I am actually in my 8 damnit! Joz 10-27-2005, 10:41 PM Well, I just had to pay a visit to Second Creek (just East of Commerce City) today. Apparently they're closing. The place was packed with all kinds of machinery! Just in case anyone has forgotten how much fun an 8 is on the track: IT ROCKS!!!! Much nicer to spend 4 hours with friends at the track than at work! All I can say is that I'm looking forward to our next track day! Cheers, -Joz- MazdaRich 11-01-2005, 02:07 AM Any SCCA or other car club members in the Denver area? I'm planning on doing one of the free days at Second Creek this week. Zuhalter Vati 11-01-2005, 03:14 AM I didn't know they had free days this week...is there a way to become an SCCA member on short notice? Also, does Rocky Mountain RX8 club count? I dunno MazdaRich 11-01-2005, 02:37 PM Go to the SCCA.com website and call them up. I mean I doubt people will be checking for ID or anything, so I'd just show up and see what happens. It's worth it to join SCCA though for $65 a year, especially if you want to autocross. MichaelB145 11-11-2005, 12:39 AM Want to take advantage of the nice weather before it snows? Or maybe you missed the Rotary meet last weekend (shame on you). If my car is going to attempt this drive...surely your rotary will make it. So bring it out! This cruise is for anyone with a nice car! If you want to go, let me know and we will meet up ahead of time so all of the Rotarys will pull in together. When: Sunday, November 13 What: Import meet and drive What time: Meet around 10am Where: Meet at 9 second racing (6900 w. 117th ave, 80020, 303-499- 7223) to hwy 93, and head south to hwy 72, which parallels Golden gate Canyon, Take hwy 72 West, hwy 72 is an awesome drive, come back down through nederland and boulder canyon and then stop somewhere in Boulder to Eat. The guys from Evolutionm.net and AWDpirates.net reserved the roof of a restaurant there to eat at, but depending on how many people show up, we may not have room for everyone. Tayninh 11-22-2005, 04:01 PM Well, shame on me for not checking. Looks like I missed all the RX meetings this year. The first time I got an email at home about a meet last year. Will try to check back on here in the Spring then. The days are starting to get colder now but I'll take the 60s all week anytime. The weekend looks to be cold. kx85racer88 11-22-2005, 05:00 PM I have had my 8 since August, and i live in the outskirts of Denver. Zuhalter Vati 11-23-2005, 01:09 AM You should frequent here more often, we need more Colorado people. Ranged28 12-21-2005, 04:25 PM Colorado Springs here. '04 Winning Blue Former A4'er 12-23-2005, 04:19 PM I'm in Springs too. Black 2004 probably dirty as hell right now. :wavey: MichaelB145 02-09-2006, 02:23 AM Hope to see all of you at the March 06 meet....heres the details........ It's that time again.....Colorado's 1st Rotary meet of the year will be held at Hamburger Stand again at 3rd and Union (Lakewood/Golden) at 1pm. At around 4pm we will take a short cruise up to Red Rocks and take some more pictures with all the cars with a killer backround! I need help spreading the word to make this our biggest meet yet! Our prior meets we ended up with about 6 RX-8's, 12 FD's, 8 FC's, and 1 FB, but expect to have as many as double that this time. We are expecting a total of about 40 Rotary cars total or more. MichaelB145 02-09-2006, 02:25 AM I had Omicron email everyone on RockyMountainRX8 and let them know about the meet March 26th. I will see everyone there! eclps0 02-19-2006, 01:37 AM Thinking of moving to denver. I love the snow and i am sick and tired fo south Fl with the really hot summers and hurricanes. I also love to snowboard MichaelB145 02-19-2006, 02:33 AM Welcome! Distortdguitar14 02-20-2006, 05:38 PM I am very pleased to be driving a brand new 2005 RX8. Silver, no spoiler purchased at Mazda dealership on havana. I live about 5 minutes away from cherry creek (15 from down town denver) So yea, I'm patrick just wanting to say HI and let you guys know I'm here :ylsuper: snowrydr01 02-27-2006, 12:41 PM Heading out to denver Friday night. Anyone want to recomend(or urge against) and mexican food joints around there. I only have dinner plans for Rasta Pasta one night and i have another 7 that i need to fill my time with. Thanks Distortdguitar14 02-27-2006, 02:29 PM Bennys on 7th and um like by penncylvaina or so. Really good restaurant, and of course theres always chipotle. Mm hmm. :) snowrydr01 02-27-2006, 02:36 PM thanks. Anybody ride breck regularly enough to know where the secret stashes are? I havent been there in about 4 years and im looking for the areas where most tourists dont ride. Best glades and bowls. Help in that area would be cool too. endolinz 02-28-2006, 05:44 PM Not CASA BONITA. The place is kid friendly, but also a tourist venue and overpriced. And the food is not the best. Distortdguitar14 03-01-2006, 05:17 PM So they dented your car ey? thats terrible to hear, did they do anything about it or are you just stuck with it? Im taking it in for the first time tomorrow, and seeing as how i just hit 1000 miles I dont want anything bad to happen to it. gotrotary 03-05-2006, 04:55 PM Just got my 04 rx8 used from burt mazda. (the place i just so happen to work for haha) its silver no spoiler but that will change when i get some more time. I cant wait for the meet, traded in my eclipse for this so a completly different type of car and so much more fun! :ylsuper: mccomber 04-21-2006, 10:13 PM Figured this is as good a place as any for my first post... just bought my '04 RX8 last friday, so far so awesome, definitely loving this car. Reminds me of my turbocharged Miata in all the right ways. Anyway, I'm also trying to figure out a dealer to take it to for the fuel tank recall, as well as trying to push and have the starter/plugs/battery replaced in the "cold weather service" thing I've read about on here. It's my daily driver, so I want to get it together now while it's warm rather than wait for potential problems next winter. Has anyone had that service done, and if so, where did you go? I'm in lakewood, but I'm willing to drive if the dealer doesn't suck. As far as that goes, how is the car in the cold? I'll get some snow tires next fall for sure, but they won't do anything if the car won't even run. Hopefully I'll get some pictures this weekend, and it's good to see several CO owners here. I'm sure I'll be spending a lot of time here... Distortdguitar14 04-22-2006, 08:12 PM Welcome to the board and what not.. We love you, unless u say the wrong thing like handicab or really anything that's wrong. But i still love you Darksyde 04-24-2006, 08:46 AM Hi all, Been on the board for a little while now, and am just getting around to listing here. Gray-8 06-05-2006, 10:48 PM Just spotted a very pretty ( I may be biased) Titanium Gray on Stout at 17th in Denver. Behn 06-12-2006, 12:12 AM Just moved to Golden from Austin Tx, I have a 2 week old 05' BB and was looking for some good roads to go exploring on. I would also be interested in any mini-meets over the summer. djgiron 06-21-2006, 06:49 PM Any of the mountain passes will be good roads for you. Try heading up I-70 and taking the Hwy 40 exit, Berthoud Pass is very twisty and a nice drive. You will end up going through Winter Park, Granby to Kremmling. Then you can follow Hwy 9 back to Silverthorne and take I-70 back to Denver. It will be an all day event for you but some nice places to see and stop to eat. There are factory stored in Silverthorne also (if you need to coax the misses into spending the day driving around the mountains!) kalidor's8 07-11-2006, 11:12 PM I made the mistake of pricing snow tires, found out that pretty much no one makes tires that will fit the 18" wheels, at least of reasonable cost, that will fit into the wheel wells. I was told that I could buy a set of 17" wheels and snow tires starting around $1500... and that's before messing around with the tire pressure sensors... I think my RX will stay in the garage when it snows. :( Try checking out this site. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compare1.jsp?startIndex=0&vehicleSearch=true&width=225/&ratio=45&diameter=18&sortcode=53700&performance=W&minLoad=S&search=true Yes I know this was from WAY back in the day but I have not really seen any real info on this so far here. I have to really start looking into this soon since it looks like I may be moving out that way towards sept time frame. I registered in the website to get the ball going early still have not gotten the activation email yet but hey it has only been a few minutes :P. Zuhalter Vati 07-12-2006, 11:00 AM Seems like the Dunlops asre the better choice. I'm a little suprised. I have heard good things on the Blizzaks. kalidor's8 07-14-2006, 09:23 AM I guess one would have to check out which has longer life. I have not been in the snow yet with my 8 so have lived with stock so far. Will have to get a second set when I get up there. Has the club died or something? I have not seen any real activity in a while and I sent my info to join the club website but still no action :( Zuhalter Vati 07-14-2006, 06:58 PM The website has had no activity. Most of the 8 owners aren't on very much, and it is VERY hard to get us together. For the most part, I am up for things on weekends, unfortunately things have worked out in such a way that I have an 8 to 5 job. The 7 owners do a lot of things, and they are a good group, but sometimes it seems we are the step kids, and I mean no offense to the 7 owners. If anyone wants some help organizing I will do what I can. kalidor's8 07-15-2006, 09:19 AM When I do get up there I will be in the Grand Junction area, but I will still be up for doing almost anything with the group. I am not sure what my schedule will look like but will do what I can. doccable 07-18-2006, 10:18 PM Wow! That is an old post! I eventually went with a set of Pirelli P-Zero Neros. And love 'em! There was a loooong discussion on them here. (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=21980&highlight=p-zero+nero) I've had the set I bought 18 months ago, and am still very pleased with the overall performance. I hated the Potenzas, simply because they were just unpredictable on the snow... no, I take that back; they were predictable. They simply sucked. Haven't heard too much on the Dunlops. But a quick check of the tire forum might be in order. MichaelB145 08-02-2006, 05:35 PM I have started a list of Known Rotary Owners on RX7club.com and would like to get RX-8 owners on it! MichaelB145 08-30-2006, 01:35 AM Our last Rotary meet of the year will be Saturday 9-23-06 at 1pm at Sill-terhar Mazda at 120th and Wadsworth. We have the entire parking lot across the street from the dealership which will hold about 100 cars. At 3pm we will be taking a cruise to Central City / Blackhawk to take some pictures and take the Super hwy (4 lanes and very curvy) back to 1-70 to head home! Like before....I will need some help with printing out flyers to take to all the Mazda dealerships in Colorado. Can someone make a flyer for this meet that looks cool! Make sure it has at least a picture of an RX-8 and has my Name and number (303-929-1998) at the bottom for any questions. I need someone who will visit the dealerships in the following area's Colorado Springs Fort Collins / Greely Boulder Aurora Northglenn / Westminster I will do the Denver Metro area Since our Spring meet had bad weather (very windy) and we skipped the Summer meet.....let's make this fall meet the largest one to date. Our Spring meet even with the wind we had 30 cars total (11 FD's, 11 FB/FC's, and 8 RX-8's). Our previous Spring meet of 04 was our previous record with 20 cars total. Mike B Zuhalter Vati 08-31-2006, 04:44 PM Well hopefully I will have time to take mine into the shop and get the door ding fixed...long story...Hope to see you all then overdrive 09-14-2006, 02:39 AM I am looking for a roomate around the lakewood/denver area. MichaelB145 09-21-2006, 05:55 PM I hate to reschedule this meet for those who could have made it on the 23rd but can't make it on the 30th but today I looked up the weather on www.weather.com and it easily made up my decision showing the 30th is supposed to be 71% vs 56% and raining on the 23rd. Very few meets do I actually call every person in my phone and I will be doing this to create a huge turnout. Even though this is an official Rotary meet....I opened the meet up to "all Mazda's" as well. I will be parking them in a different area. Please spread the word! What: Mazda Meet When: Sept 30th 2006 Where: Sil-terhar Mazda at 120th and Wadsworth Time: 1:00pm - 3:00pm Then cruise to Blackhawk/Central city for pic's Who to contact: Mike B 303-929-1998 or Adam 303-469-1801 overdrive 10-03-2006, 03:12 PM aw, too bad this wasn't on oct 30th!! I am visiting the denver area for about a week towards the end of this month before I move up there in Dec. If anything's going on/anyone wants to meet up let me know. I am planning on going out drinking with a friend of mine a couple nights but other than that, looking at apartments, and schools in the area, I will have a lot of free time to do whatever. Can't wait to get up there, Will MichaelB145 10-03-2006, 11:33 PM Oct 30th will most likely be cold! And nothing goes on during the week. If you get out here on the 29th....there should be some people meeting at Sonic in Littleton. overdrive 10-03-2006, 11:59 PM Hehe, I bet so... I will be getting there about the 25th and will be there through the end of the month. I will let you know when it gets closer as I'd like to meet some car fiends before I move up there. Thanks for the response, Will MichaelB145 10-05-2006, 02:34 AM You will really have to check out Sonic at 96th and Federal in Westminster Colorado. We have had about 300 cars there every Friday night.....that would be the biggest meet you will find while out here! eclps0 10-07-2006, 03:48 PM i will be going to Denver the 1st week of jan to go snowboarding in veil an dother parks.... skycat 01-15-2007, 07:36 PM Ok, who else is tired of all this snow, my baby has been out of the garage all of 4 times in the last 4 weeks. Distortdguitar14 01-16-2007, 09:10 AM Yes! I am so tired of the snow! I tryed to bring her out once before christmas to get a christmas present, and well 400 dollars later I had to replace my oxygen sensor due to the car being scrapped on the icey ground :-(. Today will be the first day I try taking it out since. I am very excited to drive it again, hopefully my side street isn't that bad. The bright side of all this snow and not driving the 8, is it kept my miles below 15000 for the new year. but thats all. Distortdguitar14 01-17-2007, 08:16 AM So yesterday I tried to start up the 8 but it wouldn't start. My first thoughts were the battery because it had been sitting not driven in the cold for 4 weeks. However, the lights worked and radio and all that stuff. So second thought was that it flooded, well I was right. Turns out my dad had started her up so he could move it to dig out snow but he didn't know about the warm up and yep, flooded engine :-(. The good thing is, I used the instructions given by Mazda to fix the engine flood, and it worked! So all is well again, alright. skycat 01-19-2007, 02:35 PM My girl has been out for two days now, just in time for more snow. :crying: Well atleast I've been doing some snowboarding and the 6 is much better for hauling gear anyway. So far I absolutely love my car. I don't think I have seen you around. So you like the service center at Mazda of Lakewood? I bought mine from Centennial Leasing and Sales, and they don't do service so I need to know where to take mine. Greek Racer 8 05-21-2007, 11:36 PM ^ Ya. It's a great car to drive. From my experience Lakewood had great servic until they got a new service manager. He's probably just learning how everything works around there though. It's still better service than out in aroura. If you want, I'm going to Bandimere this wednesday, come on up. I"m trying to get other 8 owners form the colorado forums to go and run their cars. I never see any 8's up there. MichaelB145 06-27-2007, 11:29 PM I started a new thread about our next Rotary meet but heres the info....we will be meeting in the far North East corner lot of Colorado Mills Mall from 1 - 4pm. Hit me up when you're coming to Vail, we'll shred it up during the day and get crunk & drunk at night. I'll miss my 8 so much.... my favorite car I've owned definately.
