instead of where the accessory outlet is positioned on other rx8's i have an airbag switch to turn on or off the passenger airbag. does anyone else have this? mine is a 04 uk model. really annoying as i want to add the accessory outlet to my car.

does anyone know if this woould be possible and is it safe to get rid of that airbag switch?

Don't have the switch, but if it is like the one in my B4000, it was to allow you to turn off the passenger airbag so you could have a small child or baby seat in the passenger seat. If you don't have any children to put in that seat (and I am presuming you don't since you are asking about the switch) then you should be able to replace it. That being said, I have no clue as to whether or not it is physically possible re: wiring, etc.

 

I would suggest ripping it out and relocating to the glovebox in case you ever need it.

 

Our (US model) accessory outlet is in the second console compartment, behind the cup holders....

Since I have the RB gauge pod, I relocated my accessory outlet to that position. I just had to make the wires longer.
