replacing stock cd player with mp3 !

Hi ,

i have a crap stock cd player which doesnt play anything now, i am really looking for an upgrade, i went through many dead forums and realizd i have 2 options

1 : i have to get a ipod adapter, and get it fixed by someone, but for that i got to upgrade my 9.53 version. and to get both worked $$, i could better go for option 2

2 : to change the whole unit with an mp3 unit which i prefer (i am not a fan of ipod)

but my question is , do i have to still upgrade my version before getting a mp3 unit ? and where can i find a good mp3 unit for my 8 , i dont believe in going to a dealer and getting a mazda mp3 player because i believe they have problems with burnt cds ? :?

anyway, i need help because i dono where can i get a cheap and good mp3 unit from ?

i own a J-Spec rx8 with stock MP3 player which plays everything.

i dont think that you will have any problems.
Mine is 2003/06.

I dont know if you will need firmware upgrade now to install the mp3, mine is definately not upgraded but it was stock installed.

No, you dont need a upgrade.. And only the stock cd player has trouble with some CDs.. The mp3 player does not, how else are you supposed to have mp3 CDs without burning them?

Mazdagear.com has one for 270..
