The topic came up at the last meet of possible change of venue (still in the same general area, but perhaps spicing it up a bit). I am interested in seeing what others think on this.

I vote for a place with some action...only 'cause i don't think alcohol should be near our cars...

I am all for shooting a couple games of pool, like the Ft. Worth crew used to. Better venue for new people to get to know everyone.

My wife is the bartender of the VIP Lounge in fort worth, at least it would be good service, pool, and shuffle board. Plus it's easy to find and usually not too crowded.

might need to move it to a neutral spot to get more than 3 or 5 people to show up

Ghost Bar....

Well not really, but I voted for "somewhere where we can eat, sit, and relax." I haven't made it out to the Thursday night meets b/c I've always had obligations+ I could never drag the GF along, as she felt it would be awkward.

I'd be up for a Speedzone meet...

Hell why don't we just meet up at The ClubHouse or Silver City. Probably be one of the largest turn outs.

I vote for a place either in the midcities area, or in the fort worth area.

I personally am in North East fort wort (keller, TX) actually. And while I have driven to a few of the Dallas meets.... its just too far. Being on a thursday too makes it harder as well.

that VIP places sounds good -- your wife could hook us up with some special treatment maybe if she let the owners know a big group of badass's were coming with sweet cars to chill and buy drinks :)

Haha, well I am supposed to go home tonight and put together the treadmill we bought, but I can meet up there tonight for drinks instead! VIPs is a block from my home and BJ's is a block from my office. So go fig.

I agree with the people who want to put the meet in a more central location. Living in the midcities area (bedford), I just dont have the desire to drive north of dallas.

It doesn't matter where the meet is, because someone will always live 30 minutes from any spot. Fort Worth people won't drive to North Dallas/Plano and North Dallas/Addison people will never drive to BFE cowtown USA. But I'm too lazy to go to any of the meets anyways so disregard what I say :)

The disparity in location was not such a large factor when there were still Fort Worth meets. Someone on that side of the urban sprawl should set something up.

As to the number that show up right now, it's typical of the summer months to pull very small groups. People get busy with family, projects, etc.

Oh, I know, how about we move em to Denton! Make it a longer drive for just about everyone except me ;) *laugh* Actually, the point of this poll wasn't so much to move the geographical location than it was to see if people would be more intested in trying out other places. (I believe some are getting tired of going to BJ's every other week and wanted to spice up the flavor).

Used to be for weekly meets, the Fort Worth crew would have theirs and the Dallas crew would have ours. Everyone would meet up at the monthly meet behind Cheddars and then go to Hooters for some nice atmosphere. I would have to agree with Creto expecting people to drive an extra 20-30 miles is a little ridiculous and makes people not prone to doing it.

im up for anything i see all these other car groups in dallas and bedford im willing to drive i just hate going and there is only 2-3 people there. we need to just pick somewhere around dallas so its 20 min drive for any direction

Change the day of the week and maybe people will be willing to drive a little more on the weekends????

I'm definitely getting tired of BJ's
Some place that has pool, serves adult beverages (To be consumed in moderation) and has bar fare might be the best bet.

Breaking into smaller groups via geographical location might also be an answer, with something once a month for all.

I work in N. Dallas, and Live in McKinney. Anything much farther west than Addison is tough on a work night, and weekends are generally reserved for family and home obligations.

Personally I am fine staying at BJ's or going to a place that we can eat, sit, and relax at. I dont want to greaten my chances for being around and getting hit by drunk drivers!

I have to agree with uncilizedracer, Speed Zone would be a great spot for a meet. If anything just to change it up once in awhile; it would make it easier for some of the new members to get to know everyone than to have them show up at a restraunt and try and find the group.

I'm not against the idea of Speed Zone, however, I do not believe the argument provided makes Speed Zone a better choice, since all you have to do at BJ's is ask the hostess where the RX-8 Club is, and that wouldn't be the case at Speed Zone.

I only said speed zone cause its in the middle of pretty much all of dallas and ft worth for the sake of getting a bigger turn out of more than just a few people when plenty more would go if it wasnt so far from them not that its a better choice. thats only from speaking to people in other posts are saying they would come if it was a more neutral location - but myself im down for driving anywhere

Hence the problem with urban sprawl. With the size of the metroplex, we almost need three groups if we want to not make people drive too much, with Fort Worth, Mid-cities, and Dallas. And even with those three areas, folks in Denton (like myself) still will be driving 30+ miles to the closest one.

I have never been to a meet and I would like to go so I dont really care where it ends up lol
