Our local autocross club had a "club fun" day today, which included two runs around a 50' skidpad - one in each direction. My RX-8, on the stock RE-040's, ran best laps of 8.835 sec (0.7847 G's) clockwise and 8.732 sec (0.8033 G's) counter-clockwise.
Not too shabby on the OEM tires. By comparison, a 350Z on Azenis managed 8.495 (0.8487 G's) ccw and 8.715 (0.8064 G's) clockwise.

Based on G-Circles drawn with a DL90 accelerometer, I've recorded a max (not sustained) 0.8g acceleration, 1.05g braking, and 1.2g lateral (both left and right) on street tires.

The problem with the DL-90 is that since it doesn' t have a 3-axis accelerometer, it doesn't take into account any banking that the road may have.
I am pretty sure that the stock tires and stock suspension of the RX-8 can't pull 1.2 lateral G's.
A Spec Miata on race tires can pull 1.3 G's.

.8 sounds about right.
If you search on here, someone did just the sways, and they were able to barely hit .9 on stockers.
And IMHO, the RE040's are one slick tire :( So there's a LOT of room for improvement!

Since this data was recorded on several flat autocross venues the banking statement doesn't apply. Also I did state max not sustained g-forces.
