I was wondering after having the 8 for a couple of months, how many rock chips do you have now? Every time I wash my car a new one appears (all on my hood!). Bloody Alberta roads!

I got 3, all from my trip to toronto. Besides that NONE, I don't drive on the highway much.

Certain roads in Calgary are bad if you get within 100m of any industrial vehicle. Ex: Deerfoot. And then, there is a lot of crap on the roads anyway. I've had dump-truck mudflaps and 2x4s flying into my vehicles!

I'll pass any dirty/industrial vehicle and risk a ticket, rather than be near them.

I had one significant one, in the top of the bumper, not the hood, and a few that might just be really hard to remove specks of something (won't know until I clay bar it). Of course that was before I drove almost 1500 km yesterday, all highway, and I haven't checked the car today, so there could easily be a few more, but I hope not.

No rock chips so far at 8200 km (knock on wood). Then again, I had the XPEL 3M clear bra installed in July - there's one or two spots on it where I know there'd be a chunk of paint missing if not for the clear bra.

Gordon

*sigh*

My frickin' cars are stone magnets. So far I have only minor chips, but at this rate I am sure a major one is on the way. Heck, I had a boulder-sized rock hit my windshield the first day I had the car; although I was lucky it did not crack the windshield, it left a very noticeable pit.

I have a horrible crack on my windshield but it'll be fixed tomorrow.

I have a very nast set of pits in my windshield, passenger side, and one mean scratch on the hood, same side. All of a result of highway driving while passing a salt truck. Must get the scratch fixed, any suggestions?

Take your car to Ming. They can fix the paint chips and apply the clear vinyl coating for a reasonable cost.

Don't let me drive your car. When my Pathfinder was 1 week old I got 3 chips in the windshield. This fall, got a real good one on the edge of the shield - and the crack has grown 2 feet! Then last week on the Whitemud I got a chip from a truck underneath the wiper, and that crack went up just above the wiper then across the bottom of the shield and back down. Luckly I was holding off replacing the windshield until this spring!

My RX is still chip free (knock on wood). Maybe it's too low to catch the rocks - I've seen several fly overhead.

I'm not a big fan of the clear vinyl coating, its just too noticeable for me. I'll just have to risk it and enjoy the ride (drive)!
