View Full Version : 3D RX-8 Progress...
crewwolfy 11-11-2002, 06:26 AM Hey all. Just thought I'd keep anyone interested up to date on my progress with a 3D modeled RX-8. These things usually take a couple weeks to complete (interior not included), but between work and school, who knows how long it'll take. Blah...
This should work now... (http://www.geocities.com/strappedhunter/rx8.html)
*Edit*
Oops, forgot that geocities doesn't allow the direct picture thing. The link's been fixed.
Beemer 11-11-2002, 12:53 PM  WOW !! That's cool man!!
Keep up the nice work, I can't wait to see it when it's finished!! :D :D :D
Hercules 11-11-2002, 12:55 PM Keep it up, would love to see it :)
Then of course you can model me with my retarded fat head sticking out of it... :D
You know, it's a lot easier if you just import the pics of the RX-8 from the profile and front, then model on top of that.
I notice that the vent behind the wheel on the side door isn't quite straight. Should save it for later after you turn on the curves, then cut out the vent using a preformed shape to keep the edges straight. At the bottom of the side vent, you'll notice that it's round, not rectangular.
Otherwise pretty nice.
A paid proffessional at needs at least a week to complete stuff like this, a hobbyist would need much more time.

That's what I'm doing.
Otherwise pretty nice.
Thanks.
Ah, sorry about that. I'm used to fleshing out the whole car in blocks, then adding detail to the blocks instead of just working on a single wire mesh.
crewwolfy 11-11-2002, 08:59 PM Yeah, different programs work differently. I know that works very well in some, but the prog I'm using doesn't have a subdivision option. It's coming along nicely, tho. ;)
Takumi 11-11-2002, 10:48 PM What 3d program are you using ?
Grimace 11-12-2002, 05:45 AM Wow! Cool!
If this is a hobby, save your work for a portfolio in case you ever need to impress an employer!
Can't wait to see the final project!
Mazda man 11-12-2002, 11:51 AM As Takumi said What program are you using? I am asking because I could use the exterior for my GTA3 Rx-8 I am making (i will give you credit for it of course) because it is better quality than my one was:(
crewwolfy 11-12-2002, 01:22 PM I'm using Animation:Master (http://www.hash.com) for this. I'll be studying this type of stuff next semester, and will be using Maya then. I've only begun playing around with Maya, learning the most basic elements. What is this about a GTA3 RX-8?
BTW: If anyone has some large pictures, please let me know. I've got the pictures *necessary* to create this, but bigger pictures make my job easier. And I'm all about easy work! :D

Using Zanosa modeler (http://www.zmodeler.com) you can modify cars or create new ones from scratch for Grand Theft Auto 3 and also many other games. I am trying to create a Rx-8 from scratch but have only just started learning Zmodeler so mine are very bad.
crewwolfy 11-13-2002, 04:30 PM Latest picture. I haven't gotten as much done as I would have liked to by now, but so is life.

Keep up the good work, would love to see what we can do.. all you need to do is after making that, model ME into the car and make a 3D animation of me driving around doing 360s, 180s and donuts.
Then I sleep happier :)
