I've got my renewal on the R32 which is up tomorrow so I've done some shopping around and found that my current insurer Direct Line are still the cheapest at £505 without NCB protection etc. When the quote came up on the screen I thought I'd change car details to RX8 to see if it was listed.
It was and guess what?

Its only £316.05 for the same cover fully comp cover. :)

Yes I did make sure it was the high power they were quoting.

I've found Directline to be the cheapest for me £399.

I apparently live in a crap(ish) area for car theft, although the area itself is very nice, so my best quote sop far is £518 from sainsburys of all people. (37, full NCB, protected)

EDIT : but if it doesn't get any better then I'll live with it!

Direct line just gave me £509 ! !
Even whacking everything on there (hire car , legal , protected NCD, no garage) it only went up to £609.

Current insurer was £100 more than that.....

35yrs old full ncd & spouse, quiet postcode, spotless licences

9k per year on Esure
Current car BMW 728 £296.62
RX8 231ps £304.84

9k per year BMW Insurance website
Current Car BMW 728 £473.00
RX8 231ps £470

12k per year on Esure
Current car BMW 728 £311.97
RX8 231ps £325.19

12k per year BMW Insurance website
Current Car BMW 728 £494.00
RX8 231ps £490.35

Taking 3k mileage off didnt drop the cost by much more than £20.00. Esure allowed me to select a fifteen year NCD but you dont qualify for the extra over and above the 5yrs maximum until next renewal.
Have been told can get a starting discount of 60% for second policy to cover BMW by Esure so it looks like I can insure both cars for under £700 per annum which will give me a total of 15-20k miles cover. One condition though is Esure gets both policies. Zurich will offer me up to a 60% ncd on a second policy though and will speak to them nearer the time.

An interesting lunch hour wasted.....lol
Oh and both BMW and Esure have the RX8 down as 2616cc.....I wish!!!

the RX8 is 2.6, and should be judged accordingly.....
