On my way to work this morning, I passed a few cars on the freeway and hit 100mph...te he he :D ...with a CD playing. The moment I hit 100mph, the CD started skipping uncontrollably and didn't stop until I got below 100 again. The CD is brand new, store bought and has no scratches. I've heard of this happening on American cars (Chevy's for the most part). But it never happened on my VW or Toyota's.

Anyone else noticed this?

My CD plays fine at excess speeds...has this happened more than once? Maybe it was just a bad CD and a crazy coincidence.

No, the road wasn't bumpy.... ::sighs:: looks like I'll have to experiment and try it again .... :D :p

Mine was fine at 105+ on the front straight of the track today.

Wait, why the F did I have music on during a track event, LOL.

your speed shouldn't matter

IIRC, the audio system adjusts the volume based on speed, no? If so, then the system could be defective or not calibrated correctly?

true but I don't know if that has anything to do with the skipping.

I think he's hitting a speed/gear combination that is causing some resonance/vibration, which is causing the skipping.. I know at a certain gear and speed, my clutch/stickshift vibrates more than usual..

Your car might not be as smoothly as it should.. I would look into it a little more.. keep an eye out for clutch/trans/stick vibrations at certain RPMs.. that might be the cause.
