Just a thought milo 10-02-2003, 11:06 PM I don't see any reason to get the spare tire kit. If I want a spare tire I'll just buy a wheel and tire and lay it in the back. The kit doesn't seem to save space or fit the wheel somewhere it couldn't get without the kit. Is there something I'm missing? milo U. N. O. 10-03-2003, 01:12 PM is that the actual spare tire kit?! i had no idea in my wildest imagination that it would be yellow... what size is the rim anyways? Dugless 10-03-2003, 03:01 PM I think it's a 17". It's for sale if anyone wants it. I think it was a $400 option. I'll let it go for half that. Arexate 10-03-2003, 03:11 PM I think I read somewhere that the weight ratio does NOT include the spare. The kit allows the tire to be mounted up off the trunk floor against the top of the trunk. I doubt you could do this without the kit. Anyway, I'd rather have the spare tire and kit than not have it, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it's worth the cost. greddylfe 10-03-2003, 03:13 PM I may be interested in purchasing that from you. I sent you a PM about it. Thanks. desmo996 10-03-2003, 03:13 PM Originally posted by Arexate Anyway, I'd rather have the spare tire and kit than not have it, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it's worth the cost. I would keep it in the garage. Call somebody to pick me up and change the tire. RX-Nut 10-03-2003, 03:42 PM Take a pic of it in the car.. I wonder how much space it eats up. Dugless 10-03-2003, 04:24 PM I spent a half hour ripping it out!!! It doesn't take up much room, I thinkk there is a thread that shows it mounted. Arexate 10-03-2003, 04:29 PM Pics here: http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10852 Clarifications on my previous post: The kit allows the tire to be mounted up off the trun floor against the top of the trunk. I doubt you could do this without the kit. I should say that I doubt you could EASILY do this without the kit. Anyway, I'd rather have the spare tire kit than not have it, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it's worth the cost. I meant that it's not worth the cost THAT I PAID (about $450 with the tire) jimbo_gixxer 10-03-2003, 04:34 PM hi i'm interested in the spare... is this the OEM factory option? i sent a PM... |
