Firmware version?

With regards to the RX-8's firmware, we can I find out what version is the latest release? And do all 8s from '03 to '07 run on the same version? Or have there been minor hidden model changes? Thanks...

I am presuming with your car being an '06 and since you presumably service at Mazda, your firmware would be up to date. You can check it up very easily although I can't remember how off the top of my head ... try using the search function of the forum!

Are you referring to the navvy?

Sorry I didn't specify. The firmware I'm refering to is the engine management system firmware that is 'flashed' by the dealer from time to time. Not to be confused with the Navagation firmware that's updated by a third party.

Exactly!

Since when would you need to know the version of the firmware?

youre talking about a whole different firmware

the firmware youre talking about is the software that ruins the headunit and the aricon and all that

I think mazda just chucks in a cd through the cd player and the player reads it and updates the software. Only thte later ones can run the ipod adaptor and integrate the ipod

ECU updates are different

theres a box in your engine bay that they open and plug to a computer and update it from there.

Head unit firmware is the one I was after. 9.67 appears to be the latest, though I did read some references to 10.x versions and they appear to cause come of the troubel for input devices. I was confused with the 'flash' updates. Thanks guys.

9.67 rings a bell, but why don't you call a mazda dealer and ask? They have a duty of care to provide you with that information remember.
