Thought I'd start a thread here of interest for the NEPOC Kent Falls meet.

Kent Falls is located 5 miles north of Kent, CT on Route 7 and is probably the most well known and visited parks in the State of Connecticut. It's located just over the border of New York state. The main attraction is the falls (obviously), but is also a great place to have a picnic and throw a frisbee around.

Here's the link to see more info. http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123664438

Also note that Rt.7 is a mountain side road that has some killer twisties.

Now don't laugh at these pics. I had taken them in 1999 with my first 1.8MP digital camera.

Wow - brings back a lot of memories. I spent a lot of time there about 25 years ago. Too bad I'm 600 miles away now!

Exactly. 1999 was the last time I was there. Awesome place indeed. Starting early, not sure exact time yet.

how far from NYC is that? I'm on the border of NYC and Westchester County...about 20 minutes south of Greenwich, CT.

Google says ~hour: Westchester to North Kent (http://local.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&saddr=Westchester,+NY&daddr=North+Kent,+CT&sll=41.034823,-73.700752&sspn=0.148132,0.376625&ie=UTF8&ll=41.503435,-73.472443&spn=1.176595,3.013&z=9&om=1)
But rt7 is a nice drive.

Zoom in of Kent Falls Park (http://local.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&saddr=Westchester,+NY&daddr=North+Kent,+CT&sll=41.034823,-73.700752&sspn=0.148132,0.376625&ie=UTF8&om=1&ll=41.776113,-73.417672&spn=0.004577,0.01177&t=k&z=17) (directions have you going past them a bit)

Oh yeah, as far as time goes, the park charges $10 for out of state parking after 10am (I know, it sucks). So if you want to get in for free, get there before 10am. I guess most people will be arriving around then.

I vaguely recall them charging everybody on the weekends regardless of what state you come from. I hope you're right though. Then I'll be free. I think I'm too lazy to get up there for 10:00am. Dammit.

Edit: $10 out of state registration, $7 in state. They did let me stop in and wander around the parking lot for free once though.
