DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO TAKE THE STOCK CROME EXHAUST TIPS OFF? THE ONE THAT COMES WITH THE CAR. DO I JUST PULL THEM OFF OR DO I NEED TO LOOK FOR SCREWS OR SOMETHING TO LOOSEN THEM BEFORE I PULL THEM OFF? I WANT TO REPLACE THEM WITH BIGGER AND WIDER TIPS. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO GET THEM OFF??? ANYONE?:spank:

There not chrome, & you would need to be handy with a cut off wheel and welder...:spank:

ah..nevermind then..I don't think I want to cut the tips off. that doesn't even sound like a wise idea. I thought I could just pull them off or something because they look like those crome tips you could buy at any auto part stores.

It is a wise idea. Inexpensive (most after market muffler's cost $600+).

This dude had good results. Easy.

It's really not that difficult. Any muffler shop could cut the old tips and weld new tips on for you.

Remember to tell the shop that the exhaust does not have to be removed in order to change the tips. The lower trim around the exhaust tips is clipped in and easily removeable. (I suggest you remove the trim instead of Bubba the muffler guy.) With the trim off, there is plenty of room for the sawzall or whizzer to cut off the OE tips just behind the spot welds.

I can't remember what size the OE pipe is. 2 1/8" if recall correctly. Your new tips will probably have a 2 1/4" ID inlet. To do this correctly, the shop should heat up the remaining OE pipes and then slowly (read not using an impact) use a muffler expander on the inside of the pipe to get it up to 2 1/4" OD. Don't let them do anything shoddy like bushings or adapters. Heating the pipe before expanding will help prevent splitting on the seam.

NO YOU HAVE TO CUT THEM OFF, MAKE SURE TO CUT THEM OFF BECAUSE THERE IS NO SCREWS, BECAUSE THERE IS NO SCREWS YOU NEED TO HAVE THEM CUT OFF BECAUSE THEY CANT UNSCREW

exhaust tips might be the way to go. I dont like the way the stock exhaust looks but dont wanna pay the money for a whole exhaust.

Its not expensive to switch out the exhaust tips at your local muffler shop

IMO the stock tips are too small but I completely understand if you want to change out the tips rather than buy an exhaust system.
