sup all, i just got a new red rx8 and im learnin to drive manual..

i hav a few questions about braking..
what is the best way to brake, downshifting or clutch-brake?
i heard that there is some way that people brake that messes up the car. anyone know what that way is?

also..
at the dealer we went for a test drive and the guy said taht when u drive short distances and u reach ur destination u should put it in neitral and rev the engine a little. He then put the parking break on, put it in neutral and revved it up to 5000rpm and held it there for about 10 seconds. He said this helps the sparkplugs somehow.
do you guys recommend doing this?
does revving have any bad effects on the engine?
i really wanna keep the car in good shape as much as i can.

Please list anything possible that could harm a manual car as well
so i will make sure i do not do it to my car.:)

thanks all

the revving thing before you shut the car down after driving a short distance is so that the engine doesn't flood.

Just my $.02, but when driving in traffic or city crowds I use a brake-only stop. When driving hard or auto-x-ing I always use engine braking. It allows you to accelerate much faster out of turns. City driving should be done as casually as possible. Drive slow and you'll give the rest of the world a chance to be jealous of you!

All this of course, IMO
