Holy crap! PPG wants $280/pint for VR paint! Is there some place I can get it cheaper?

Try Dupont

Sorry dude. I couldn't resist that one.

Try looking at other brands. PPG is very proud of their paint. Ask the bodyshop guy at your dealer. He will know what is a perfect match. If it is PPG, then just bite the bullet and pay up. If it is another brand, such as Dupont, then go with that.

Just remember that this is your RX-8 that we are talking about. Price doesn't matter. What matters is a perfect match.

wow, that seems just a little high. i needed to get some black cherry mica for a project i am working on, and i got a pint of that, a pint of primer, a pint of clear, the additive for the primer, reducer for the base, and the additive for the clear, mixing cups, filters, etc for 200. i then needed to get another pint of the base, and that was only about 50 or 60. oh, and it was all ppg product.

Check local paint supplier. I paid $144 for pint of VR PPG - base and mid coat.

PPG has a couple of different lines.
A quart of custom-mix DBC is usually about $70. The clear will set you back another $40 a quart.

I'm not sure why you are getting quoted such a high price.
