8rotor8 05-31-2007, 05:31 PM Hello everybody! I am talking to a shop in Hayward to set up a Dyno Day for any 8's in the Bay Area. It will cost $60 for 3 pulls with A/F. I am just putting this out there to see if there is enough interest to get this set up. It will be on Saturday, June 30th, depending on everyone's schedule and if there are enough people interested. Post here for what day and if you want to attend.

Endless Rotaries 06-02-2007, 02:58 PM Any of you guys who signed up have Lightweight flywheel, intake, and catback?
That's basically what i have except i have ligher 2 piece rotors as well.
Word of advice, if your wheels are bigger than stock TAKE THEM OFF. The dyno will be pointless and you will be saddened. i.e. EVER, remove the 19's and put the stockers on.
I would do the same. Take off the 19's and put my 17x9.5 +44 NT03+M's on there.
Now question, do we just disable the ABS and Traction control to get good dyno figures? I remember that whole issue with the 8 not getting good dyno readings. I really wanna see what that RB flash did so i'm hoping there are relative comparisons. If he can pull the power i have then shiet, i need the flash. i'm leaving for LA from the dyno directly. hahahahahaha.
thanks, Rishie
8rotor8 06-03-2007, 11:09 AM Here is more information, this is from the email sent to me:
"David, most of our dyno days we can fit 8 people in a day. We can do more if you like, but that will really depend on. This is how our normal prices break down.
3 pulls 50 dollars
A/F – Tailpipe air fuel ratio curving – 10 extra dollars
Wideband – 25 extra dollars, this is of course assuming people have a secondary 02 bung in their exhaust pipe.
We tune AEM EMS, Haltech, SAFC, for the RX8’s"
Rishie, I hope my bigger tires won't mess with the numbers too much, i'm running 245/45 on 18x8, if you have a set of stockers around that I can use on the dyno maybe that will show true power that the RB flash gave me. Prior to the dyno, I'll wash out the filter, change the oil, and run 87 octane. I do think we need to atleast turn off the DSC, but i'll try on run with the DSC off, then the next two runs with everything off.

Endless Rotaries 06-03-2007, 04:32 PM I don't think you'll be affected too much 8rotor8 because you do have a lighter wheel and the mass should be about the same. If you increase wheel diameter, that's where you can lose power even if the combinations weigh the same as stock.
I've run into situations like this before with my FC where I had some 18x9.5's in the back with 255's and a basically stock FC pulled more power. I was very disappointed. So always remember to find that balance between power and weight in all aspects. Rotational mass, Sprung and unsprung masses, etc....
If i were to sign up, date pending: I'll list all mods, some might not apply to power output.

Ever Hernandez 06-04-2007, 01:34 AM Awww, crap! I don't have the stockers anymore. Should I just do it for the hell of it. I"m just wondering how much off the numbers would be...:dunno:

scremn8 06-04-2007, 09:04 PM we did the same thing down here in the south. we had about 17 cars everyone left there cars as they were just to see what they were pulling with what they had on. but one thing we found that did help was running the car hard just before we dyno'd... #'s were better for the cars that did...

c41250n 06-05-2007, 03:28 PM can it be anytime after july 16?
8rotor8 06-05-2007, 04:09 PM I can set up another one anytime, but for the first one, I don't want to drag it out for too long.
c41250n 06-06-2007, 12:04 AM totally understand!
let me know if you're planning for a 2nd one!
8rotor8 06-06-2007, 10:41 PM Will do! So it seems like the bigger group turn out will be on the 30th. But I'll see who else comes out and wants to do the earlier dyno.
YayAreaBruh21 06-11-2007, 02:31 AM I have thought to myself and much rather go both days. the 16th would be a before turbo dyno and the 30th would be an after turbo dyno! sign me up for both!
8rotor8 06-12-2007, 12:39 PM OK... so it seems to me the larger group will be for the 30th. If no more people turn out by tonight, then the date will be for the 30th.
YayAreaBruh21, if anything, just call up or email the shop and set yourself a date to get a dyno before your turbo install. Their website is prostreetinline.com, or call them and talk to John.
Jedi54 06-12-2007, 01:20 PM Dyno Days are SOOO much fun! I organized a SoCal Dyno Day that had 19 RX-8's! 17 M/T, 2 A/T, and 1 Greddy Turbo
my 8 is stock:(
Don't sweat that at all... you'd be surprised how well some of the Stock 8's did on our runs.
Oh, and here's a little video to tease / entice more people to go to your event...

8rotor8 06-12-2007, 03:45 PM Thanks Jedi54. Even more strange that you and I are setting up dynos, we have the same birthday.
N rider89 06-12-2007, 04:52 PM im gonna have the lowest by far between the 19's and the a/t. maybe i shouldnt do this....
Jedi54 06-12-2007, 04:57 PM Nrider: do it anyways, it's still fun to hang with other Rotorheads and see what your car can actually put down.
We had 2 A/T's at our Dyno Day and they still had tons of fun

8rotor8 06-12-2007, 06:04 PM Hey guys, I need contact information for the shop. Just PM me your full name and phone number. Unless you are fine with your information open to the club, then just post it up. I need the information to reserve the dyno day.
Thanks!
N rider89 06-12-2007, 06:10 PM Nrider: I got $50 says you beat out some of the M/T's in Torque! :D:
thats right! i got 2 more
trancesimulator 06-12-2007, 07:09 PM I want in on the 16th and 30th.
thats 8 people for the 16th how many do u need?
Throwdown 06-12-2007, 08:08 PM I don't want to get my car dyno'd, but I'm coming to hang out (if I even have my car back by then).
8rotor8 06-12-2007, 09:14 PM 8+ is fine but I'd rather have one larger dyno, then have a second on with only a few 8's. There were 3 others that only want the 30th, but since Throwdown stepped down and YayAreaBruh wants the 16th now. I'll ask the shop if tomorrow if this weekend isn't too late. In order for me to set up the dyno for the 16th I will need everyones contact information by tomorrow morning. If not, then it'll just be for the 30th. :)
trancesimulator 06-12-2007, 09:19 PM ya i wanna get a dyno before i get rbflash to see how much of a gain I will get. so I hope they say yes. Else I will have to find another place by within a day. =p *cross's fingers*
8rotor8 06-13-2007, 10:23 AM Seems to me the date will be set for the 30th. I still need everyones contact information. Thank you to those 3 that sent it to me already. Again, the shop needs our information, instead of money, to reserve the date. I will need it no later the the 25th. That will give the shop enough time to get the garage ready for us. If I do not get the information by the 25th, I cannot gaurentee that you will be able to dyno. On a side note, I will also have food and drinks ready there for us as well, i'll see if the shop can spring for it, or maybe we can just pitch in $5 each and we'll get a few pizza's.
8rotor8 06-14-2007, 02:10 PM Thank you to N rider89, YayAreaBruh21, gr8thandling, trancesimulator, tournapart, and RX Guy for sending me your information so quickly. I still need a few more people information to get a final headcount. Ever - Still plan on attending? I sent you a PM but you haven't responded yet.Rishie - Do you plan on doing the dyno, or just going to watch? I tried to PM you but your box is full
N rider89 06-15-2007, 04:02 AM so the date is now the 30th correct? as in only one now?
just clearing things up. also if you need some more snacks or anything just tell me and ill help
8rotor8 06-15-2007, 08:56 AM Yes, only the 30th will be the dyno day. I'll firgure out the food when I get the final head count.
Thanks Niel.
YayAreaBruh21 06-17-2007, 03:22 PM Hey guys i had a question. at the dyno i was wondering if anyone going knows how to install turbo timers? mine recently came in and i am having some trouble installing. if maybe a few of ya guys can get together and help me out between pulls?

Throwdown 07-02-2007, 02:42 PM They kept stalling out the cars, and they were having problems registering data from the cars just before 8k rpm. Waste of $60 imo.

cool, I have similar mods. My wheels are 19's tho. Congrats! Were you the only one to get that #?
SiLVeRE8 07-03-2007, 04:36 PM yep and i never expected to hit these numbers. thanks
Friendlydacat 07-04-2007, 06:06 AM Too bad I don't know my full results. 176 @ 7000rpm.... :-/
So on your second try you were able to get 176hp @ 7000 rpms? I was comparing our results on your first run and we were similar at 7000rpms at around 167hp. Between the RF-interference and that 10hp descrepancy, it was a waste of $60.00.
Silvere8's result from 5000 to 6000 rpm shows a consistent +20hp offset compared to the other results. I think it's the racing beat cat-replacement. I will try that modification next and rely on my fatbutt dyno this time. :D
8rotor8 07-04-2007, 08:58 AM Yup, the second attempt pulled 176. They used jumper cables for better ground, but there was still that problem
tournapart 07-04-2007, 12:33 PM Look around, from what ive read RX8's just dont like to be dyno'ed
