Is it sad that after the crash that people kept on going through the toll booth like nothing happened save for that one white car??

It seems like the driver was trying to escape the police and foolishly tried to aim his car between the booths but failed most likely due to the high speed he was traveling at. You just know the family of this guy are going to try to file a wrongful death suit against the state for this.

Well at least he picked an empty EZ-Pass booth to hit.

Well, honestly, what was (s)he supposed to do? There were cops behind and in front of the incident. Any "helpful" citizens milling about in the middle of the highway would probably just have posed a greater safety risk.

They did the right thing, IMO. I would have done the same.

I thought that if a doctor discovers that his patient is having seizures, then he has to report it to the DMV and the drivers license is suspended. If you have seizures and continue to drive, you are putting yourself and others at risk. As I said, another idiot takes himself out of the gene pool. :)

They are if they know they have a history of them and continue to drive. He got what he deserved. Had he not been driving he'd still be alive.

It never ceases to amaze how people are so quick to pass judgement w/out even knowing the whole situation...but anyway, different factors for different states, I do beleive though most states require people with epilepsy to be seizure free for a specified period of time and have a Dr's evaluation of their ability to drive safely...Being that he had just experienced a seizure and jumped behind the wheel of a car was a big nono but who knows what the scenario was

I don't think that I am being "Quick to pass judgment." If you know that you have seizures and you get behind the wheel of a car, then you are an idiot. Plain and simple. That would be endangering yourself and others and would be a crime.

I can't really tell what type of car it was, but it sure did catch quick. Wonder what ruptured the tank. Maybe he drove over a pole when he hopped the curb.

Either way, seizures or not, I hope he died on impact.

Well the state of New jersey states "one must be seizure free for at least one year before he/she can drive again". Excluding this fella I guess all other epileptic people who have cleared through their physicians and met the time period are idots too  ...whatever man it's your world

The car hit a concrete barrier designed to prevent cars from hitting the toll booth head on. At 65 mph that barrier could rip the tank apart.

I have no problem with that.

You are putting words in my mouth. I did not say people who are certified seizure free. I said people who know that they have seizures and still choose to get behind the wheel are idiots and criminals.

If a car catches fire next to you, are you going to stop?

I would have gotten away from the blaze, too, and if the road was deserted, I would have used the cell phone to call for help. But there were police right there, so what else is there to do?

I was driving on the interstate once when everyone slowed down to gape at a car that was on the shoulder with flames coming out of the hood. All the little kids in back seats were pressing their noses against the glass to look. And I’m thinking, “You’re slowing down to get a good look, and it could blow up right in your kids’ faces.” Please, if a car is on fire, do not slow down to gape and block me in next to a burning car.

If you're really that interested, pull over to the shoulder and get out of your vehicle and stroll over for a real close look. Bring a picnic lunch. Make a day of it.

I knew a guy who lost his leg in a NJ tollbooth crash on his Kawasaki GPz back in the early 80's. He was racing a car when it happened. I feel for him, but it was his fault.... There is a time and place to race, and it isn't on the parkway.

I agree with you. People do this all the time. Guy was a fool for trying to defend what he did. Very ignorant. You don't know much of anything behind the story, nor do you have the facts correct, yet you make a statement like that. Unfortunately people do that all the time. It's the way it is. Making statements like that based off a youtube video is just plain stupid. Glad someone said something. Props to ya man. :)
