Another idiot takes himself out of the gene pool.

Is it sad that after the crash that people kept on going through the toll booth like nothing happened save for that one white car??

It seems like the driver was trying to escape the police and foolishly tried to aim his car between the booths but failed most likely due to the high speed he was traveling at. You just know the family of this guy are going to try to file a wrongful death suit against the state for this.

Well at least he picked an empty EZ-Pass booth to hit.

Well, honestly, what was (s)he supposed to do? There were cops behind and in front of the incident. Any "helpful" citizens milling about in the middle of the highway would probably just have posed a greater safety risk.

They did the right thing, IMO. I would have done the same.

I thought that if a doctor discovers that his patient is having seizures, then he has to report it to the DMV and the drivers license is suspended. If you have seizures and continue to drive, you are putting yourself and others at risk. As I said, another idiot takes himself out of the gene pool. :)

snizzle 05-18-2007 10:04 AM

I'm so mean, I laughed at this one.

eviltwinkie 05-18-2007 10:12 AM

haa haa haa...niiice...the last time I tried to do that I flew right thru the toll booth and kept going...

This was in need 4 speed tho...haa haaa

RX-GR8 05-18-2007 10:12 AM

that's focked up.

lesper4 05-18-2007 10:19 AM

damn i wish cops could respond that fast out here...i assume it was maybe a high speed chase.

snizzle 05-18-2007 10:20 AM

I think they always have cops on standby at tollbooths.

smrx8 05-18-2007 10:26 AM

They are if they know they have a history of them and continue to drive. He got what he deserved. Had he not been driving he'd still be alive.

StewC625 05-18-2007 11:13 AM

Damn, that's nuts how his car just instantly lit off like that too.

Derex'8 05-18-2007 11:15 AM

It never ceases to amaze how people are so quick to pass judgement w/out even knowing the whole situation...but anyway, different factors for different states, I do beleive though most states require people with epilepsy to be seizure free for a specified period of time and have a Dr's evaluation of their ability to drive safely...Being that he had just experienced a seizure and jumped behind the wheel of a car was a big nono but who knows what the scenario was

CarAndDriver 05-18-2007 11:43 AM

Wow....I hope nobody else was injured or killed in this incident.

Wilson 05-18-2007 11:57 AM

I don't think that I am being "Quick to pass judgment." If you know that you have seizures and you get behind the wheel of a car, then you are an idiot. Plain and simple. That would be endangering yourself and others and would be a crime.

Chrisbert 05-18-2007 12:13 PM

I can't really tell what type of car it was, but it sure did catch quick. Wonder what ruptured the tank. Maybe he drove over a pole when he hopped the curb.

Either way, seizures or not, I hope he died on impact.

Well the state of New jersey states "one must be seizure free for at least one year before he/she can drive again". Excluding this fella I guess all other epileptic people who have cleared through their physicians and met the time period are idots too  ...whatever man it's your world

Looks like a late 90's Ford ZX2 Escort. The car hit a concrete barrier designed to prevent cars from hitting the toll booth head on. At 65 mph that barrier could rip the tank apart.

I have no problem with that.

You are putting words in my mouth. I did not say people who are certified seizure free. I said people who know that they have seizures and still choose to get behind the wheel are idiots and criminals.
