My 8 was parked in a parking lot behind my apartment complex and was smashed into by someone who felt they didn't need to leave any information on my car. My neighbor witnessed the incident and got a description of the car and driver and a license plate. An Asian female driving a blue honda accord backed into the car making a huge cracking noise. My bumper cover was cracked and dented and the insert covering my passenger side tail pipe was busted.
I filed a police report and was certain that we had enough info to find this woman. The officer called back and said that the plate number didn't match. When I asked if he could run a partial plate, he cut me off and said he had done all he could do. What he was really telling me was that it was late on a Friday and he had the next two days off and didn't want to do it. I sucked it up and got the estimate, $750 with a $500 deductible, ouch.
Less than one week later my roommate walked in and told me to take a walk around the block because he just saw a car and driver matching the description of the one that had hit me, hit a black honda civic while trying to parallel park and drive off. It turned out that the black civic this woman had just hit belonged to my girlfriend who was in town visiting.
I was able to locate the car parked around the block and get the license plate. It was only one number off from the number my neighbor had taken down after witnessing the first incident. The accord also had a dent on her rear bumper and paint transfer matching my Ti Grey. This had to be the car. I again called police and asked them to come out. I am guessing the woman saw me looking at her car with a flashlight because she had moved the car by the time the police arrived about 5 minutes later.
The police were able to track her down and she admitted hitting both cars. She was cited for two hit and runs and driving on a suspended license. Fortunately she had insurance so neither I nor my girlfriend have to pay for any damage to our vehicles. I later found out that this woman was a law student...go figure.

You should be allowed, by law, to wail on people that do this sorta thing with a bamboo stick for 5 minutes...

But I'm glad that all worked out amicably...

:spank: You're right, that would make me feel a lot better about having to take my car into the body shop

Good job. I guess it is a trojan victory though, that it took her hitting your g/fs car in order to find her again. If that was HPD here in Houston you would be paying for it out of pocket. Did she at least say she was sorry?

It's not nice for a guy to hit a woman.... ALTHOUGH, I would have told your girlfriend to kick her ass!

no remorse was noted in the police report

Damn. Isn't hit and run a very serious offense? That woman should be thrown in jail. If she can't even stop to leave a not for hitting someone's parked car, what makes you think she'll stop if she ran someone over?

Sounds a lot like this story on rx7club, except not nearly as cool.

In Illinois, a hit and run is a class 4 felony punishable by heavy fines and/or jail time. She will also have her driving privileges revoked (keep in mind her license was already suspended)

I wish I could find the worthless POS that hit and ran me back in early January.

That's fantstic that you found her, the police actually responded, and she admitted to it.

Holy shit! What do you think the odds are that the bitch would not only hit your car, but your girlfriend's too at a later date? That's amazing :lol2:

It took a lot but there's not much I could have done. Her car already had paint on it from other vehicles, and if she is as crazy as her behavior, imagine what she would do to my car if she was really pissed.

Thx for all the comments, I just wanted to share my story.

I'm so glad you tracked her down. I can't explain it logically, but that sort of behavior makes me absolutely furious.

If she can't even stop to leave a not for hitting someone's parked car, what makes you think she'll stop if she ran someone over?My guess is that there are different kinds of "hit and run". It's thought to be a "very serious offense" when it involves striking a pedestrian (injuring or killing them) and driving away. I could be mistaken, but I would guess that "hit and run" resulting in a dented fender when someone's parking is not, unfortunately, thought to be very serious.

I was actually gonna say something, but then I read the one on Rx7club...and I forgot. That kid should write movies lol, its so detailed and interesting.

Anyways, that sucks. I cant believe people do stuff like that, especially if they have insurance, its not like they have to pay for it. One of the guys at work hit another girls car (that also works there) and tried to just go home like nothing...even though he knows we have cameras. He even came to work today in a different car, but then he got fired lol.

My fiance's car got hit by a drunk driver a couple years ago. A witnessed stopped and we called the police, the witness had a detailed description, the moron's license plate fell of when he hit her car, and the cops took over 5 hours to show up. When I called the next day there was no record of the report and the license plate I gave them had magically disappeared. The Milwaukee police are one of the most corrupt and useless departments in the US.

That sucks man, I'm sorry things didn't work out for you like they did for me. I used to live in Milwaukee so I feel ya. That's pretty funny about the license plate though. you have to laugh at that.

Then there was the time some crackhead broke into my car and his buddy came and told me and tried to sell me my stuff back... I told him I would give him a little something and to come back with it in about an hour. I called the police, they never showed, the crackhead was back with my stuff in exactly an hour. I got the guys name, his friends name, his probation officers name, and the address he was last seen at (a crackhouse). The cops did NOTHING.

Anyhow, I'm happy things worked out for you! lol

That sucks sweaty balls. I saw a city confidential (all tv viewing and posting on rx8 club is done late at night) that detailed alot of the corruption in the MPD. It was on Bambi whats her name who was totally framed by the police for a crime commited by another cop. Really messed up.
