does anyone know what that is?

I remember talking to someone with an RX7 and he told me that you are suppose to take care of rotary engines differently and drive it differently. Does anyone know if that is true?

I drove my '82 RX-7 for ten years. And I Always drove it like I stole it. Keep up with the oil change maintenance and never let the engine overheat. That's about it. The rotary engine begs for the redline. And after driving an RX-8, so will you.

Here's what the RotorHeads recommend everyone to do: you can shift around any RPM range, yes even at low RPMs AS LONG AS YOU ARE NOT LUGGING the engine along. Also, everytime you drive the car, after the engine has reached normal operating temperature, it is recommended you to rev it all the way to the Red line at least once. This is to ensure that you will not have hydrocarbon build up and clog up the ports.


Just keep up with the Oil change, check your oil once in a while. Make sure you warm it up before shutting off the engine and should have an engine that is good for 200,000+ miles.

I Rev it up to redline 40% of the time on the road, and i normally shift between 5k to 6k on normal driving.

Also try to keep in on the road apparently and admittedly so, that is too hard for me to do..

Don't stop and start it repeatedly and let it warm up before running the hell out of it. Put over 100k miles on several 7's this way
