Has anyone had tinting done anywhere east of the GTA (Ajax, etc...). I am looking to get it done in the next week or two and I don't know where there are any reputable shop in the area.
Also, does anyone have any information on the tinting laws in Ontario.

Yea I looked at their gallery and looks like they do a good job. Plus they're open on weekends (which is the only time I can go)
Where did you go to get it done? Does it have the lifetime warranty as well? I'm financing my 8 and plan on keeping her.

Number 73 in Ontario HTA (link (http://www.e-laws.gov.on.ca/DBLaws/Statutes/English/90h08_e.htm#BK118)):

Colour coating obscuring interior

(3) No person shall drive on a highway a motor vehicle on which the surface of the windshield or of any window to the direct left or right of the driver’s seat has been coated with any coloured spray or other coloured or reflective material that substantially obscures the interior of the motor vehicle when viewed from outside the motor vehicle. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 73 (3).

Unfortunately, unlike other provinces that specify the amount of tint allowed (and officers carry around tint meters to check on the fly), here in Ontario it's up to the officer's interpretation. So if he/she thinks they can't see in, they could technically ticket you. I'd really like someone to tell me otherwise, though, since I'm looking into tinting myself.

yes they are...

they mostly don't do small jobs....they work with dealers...like when u ask for a tinit when u buy ur car...they bring it to 3rd party shops...they don't tint the car them selfs

vital is one of them...mostly deals with hondas and toyotas though.

unlike audio heaven and tint king and fxauto..

thats why you havent heard of them.

Got my tint done yesterday. They did a great job!

Oh I went with the metallic tint and my radio doesnt seem affected by it except when I'm near power lines where the reception becomes distorted.

I went to FX Auto yesterday, they wanted 240 for the 8. I told them a couple of us would want to do it, and the receptionist said they'll give us free upgrades to better tints with better UV and Heat capabilities. Still seems expensive.

240 seems a bit steep. I'm sure TurboEight's deal will be a lot cheaper. I'll post pics of my tint (since I have the SolarGard tint and that's what TurboEight said they use with his deal)

Just busy on monday and wednesday evenings, got school. Free on other days, can work my schedule for the weekend. I jus wanna get the tint percent that will make the rear quater panels seem one flat colour. Like when looking at stock, you have that dark outline. Wanna match that.

Turbo, you know which ones arent metallized? Seems from their site, that the Supreme is the only non metallic tint. Just concerned since I do have GPS in my car now.

Sunday before 12 because I start work in Burlington at 12...where are they located. Website doesn't seem to load for me...will try again now.

Has anyone set a time yet for when they are getting theirs done at Vital with the info Turbo8 PMed us?

Just curious.

I talked to Vital today to set up an appointment but they are only open from7-4 mon - fri which is pretty inconvenient for me to get to, so I'm not too sure what I am going to do.

yea, their business hours are gear more in a way that they want the weather to be still warm and lots of sun, they like to leave their car outside in the sun for like around 1 hour before letting you pick up the car, to fix anywhere after it dries a bit more, if there are any spots that don't look right.

Did a great job, really nice people, Paul and his son. Justin did the actual work ;)

All in all well worth the money. I look forward to it drying completely, although there's hardly any bubbles or fingers at all, and I only picked up the car 30 mins ago. :lol2:

you can't get any tint in the front...it's illegal. When people say all around they mean excluding the front.

yeah they showed me 15% so they'll do it for you no problem, too dark for me though.
I'm very happy with what I have now.

How does it look now that its had time to dry out? Any bubbles? Are you happy with the quality?

It takes anywhere from 2 to 5 days to fully dry out depending on conditions. I park in an underground lot so it will probably take longer, but as I mentioned yesterday there is a minimal amount of bubble, I'd say you could count on one hand how many there are.

I'm very very happy with the quality. Those guys do work for at least 5 seperate dealers on their new cars before they are even sold. In fact they rarely deal with individuals, so we really are getting a great deal.

If you have any other questions let me know, but you should make an appointment with them and get it done ;)

Yea I went to them...they only have 35, 20, 5% tints...
They did a great job. Check back to my previous post in this thread for a pic of 35% all around.

Edit: I suggest getting the metallic tint (unless you have the Nav cuz that may interfere with it). Even though my tints are only 35% they do a great job of blocking out the heat from the sun. I got the front sunshade and my car isn't an oven anymore after work when I arrive at the GO station.

Just got back...here are some pics of my newly tinted windows.

BTW- These guys will cater to your needs... so don't worry about the time thingy just call them and they will make time for you. I got there at 6:45 and was done in about 1.5hrs or so.

Justin has his car 4% over a 20% factory tint (rear) and it is even darker than this. Looks pretty cool...

If you use them ask to see his...Dark is good!!

If yo come to the meet at K-W you can check out the strakes that me and DarkBrew got from Rotary13B1.

All i wanted to do was hide the LCD screen and it works great. From the outside of the car it just looks like i have a Navigation screen even when I'm really watching a james bond movie. No more paranoia while driving near police.

P.S. the dark tint actually does add to the look of the 8 i think. Even on galaxy grey.

Just did the fence so the driveway is next... Tints are cool and protect the leather/interior.

So, for my first mods: I want a roar out of the engine like I had with my CAI on my SPEC V...what do you guys/gals reccomend. I also want a new shift knob...any recs?
Taking my baby (RX-8) on its first trip to Montreal! With sat. radio and cds will be great..keep it below 130...

Lovin my RX-8! Every time I walk up...I'mlike hot car...oh yeah my HOT car! Gotten the hang of the torque curve...it is real flat and revs great.

I'm guessing the next meet will be the MOTM...

I find 35% still gives good visibility at night yet still keeps the inside cool in the heat.

Do you think you can still get that $170 tax in deal using Solarguard tint? I read this entire thread, seems like everyone is happy with the job at that place at 15 Crockford, and it's like a 5 mintue drive from my home too.
