I was curious how much it has cost people to swap a rear bumper at a body shop? I got an estimate of $100. Is that about right?

Thanks!

I found out that it is $1500 with paint and the metal under the bumper; due to some idiot in a Neon that couldn't figure out that the red lights that come on in the back of the car when you stop means you need to brake last Friday.

In all honesty if it took you an hour to replace just the bumper skin yourself; I would be surprised.

My experience lately has been that if you can get ANYTHING done for $100 you're doing OK. Doesn't seem unreasonable.

You should find out what their hourly labor/service rate is. The job shouldn't take more than an hour.

Thanks--I was thinking that at the most it should take that long.

just so that this thread is here, how much would it cost for me to trade in my front and rear bumper for a new bodykit?

CarandDriver ... you can probably DIY in an afternoon. The trickiest part is removing the taillights but everything else is smooth sailing. There's a great DIY on rear bumper replacement here. But 100 is decent.

Or call some people over for an afternoon and provide the beer.

Beer, wine, soda--I'll serve if people help.

Actually I don't like beer, but I'm a bit of a wine snob.
