I think it's probably written in the FAQ in Japanparts site about tax that you have to be responsible for it.

99% you have to pay the tax yourself..... Every companies i emailed to tell me prepare to pay taxes on my own....

Go and meet the officer, if not your things will be damaged or walloped by them.....

So far, I have clock 230km in 2 days around town. Can't stop driving the car. It's just a beautiful drivers car.

RE guys will be coming to Malaysia. Remapping for NA and Turbo can be done at Wangan Racing. Tentatively it should be in July.

Boy, they tentatively say 20 cars at estimated RM2k each just to come down to KL..... So very unlikely they will go to KK, some more they oni associates with workshops.......

There's one big customer that spends more than 100k on RE products, that's why RE will come to KL to tune his car.....

20 cars.... Boy, I think you need to gather the rest of the members in Sandakan, Tawau, Labuan etc.... may be we can make it....

The schedule will be very tight so they probably won't have time to go to East Malaysia. Benny, maybe you can hand carry all the 10 ECUs from Sabah and bring to KL, then fly back the same day.

Since they are coming to tune one heavily modded FD3S, we don't need a minimum of 20 cars. However if we got more than 20 cars then can get discount.

T-shirts, if buy from them can la. If ask them to bring for free, I doubt they will.

The remap is more or less similar to what you see on R-Magic site or RE-catalogue for those Redom ecu. If we order that kind of service, we have to courier our ECU to Japan for them to remap and they send it back to us.

So bringing the ECU to KL will be the same.

no use carry 10 ecu without the car. i tried that before, tune tak ngam one. i called them up before i wanted to go singapore. the only thing they can do is remove speedcut.

RE-Amemiya is very firm about their pricing for their services.
Price will be very similar to the price in Singapore for the NA Remap.
Given that we definitely have less volume, it will not be cheaper.
The best we can do will be the same as Singapore.

The results and feedback are very good in Singapore so it's worth doing.
The price is not that high if you break it down.

Buying a HKS SLD will cost RM1300-1500. That's already half the price of remap.
So the other half is to bring down your car's temperature and save some fuel and let you enjoy a bit more power.

RE-Amemiya is very firm about their pricing for their services.
Price will be very similar to the price in Singapore for the NA Remap.
Given that we definitely have less volume, it will not be cheaper.
The best we can do will be the same as Singapore.

The results and feedback are very good in Singapore so it's worth doing.
The price is not that high if you break it down.

Buying a HKS SLD will cost RM1300-1500. That's already half the price of remap.
So the other half is to bring down your car's temperature and save some fuel and let you enjoy a bit more power.

Yesss......can't wait to get rid of that DAMN speedcut !!!!! Buying an SLD for Rm1300-Rm1500 just doesn't seem worth it...... I mean, it only cost me Rm400 to remove my previous Rx7 speedcut (TRUST) and Rm450 Boost Cut (also TRUST product).....BUT, that was a long time ago !!!!!

The mapping will be for RE-A updated reprogramming of RX8 ECU which is what we have been talking about and Mazda latest released programme combination.

Regarding the Rev cut thing, here's what I was told from a friend in Singapore.
It is true that there is no more power after the higher RPM.
However, by doing that, the RPM won't drop as much when you change gear. So that's the benefit. But have to try personally then know.

its actually equal to a bundle of; SLD, mazsport-cooling fan mod, fuel saver, and ofcoz more power. for 2K or below, its justifiable.

Wangan, i think its really worth it to do remapping.
it really worth it to remap because:
1. speedcut, the HKS SLD already cost so much.
2. rev limit upgrade, they are not giving the 8 max out power, still there is a safety factor on RE remap. so its safe.
3. fuel efficiency, its like emanage tune, we are using different fuel, different sea level, different oxygen level, and it also depend on your in car modification. worth it cause emanage will cost u RM2000 also.
4. lower temperature for the cooling fan is a must! cause our weather is hot! if u see on Racing beat website the modification for cooling fan is more than RM2000

but i think without our car there, we can't really get the fuel efficiency tune right, cause they do not know our mod in the car. like turbo 8 is different tuneon ecu with/without exhaust upgrade

1. Speed cut removal - You can drive past 180km/h
2. Rev Cut - allows you to rev higher. Benefit will be when you change gear, your RPM won't drop as much since you can rev higher.
3. Latest mazda release (I do not have sufficient information for this ).
4. Your fan to start working earlier to cool your car better. Important for Malaysian weather.
5. Ignition Timing, improves your fuel consumption and a little little increase of power.

First of all, it's impossible to get it at estimated 2k.
The price is not based on SLD + Emanage + etc.
The price is based on what we get from RE-A, and slight mark up of course.

RE-A's charges us very high per car. It's the same in Singapore. We are getting around the same price as MG is getting. Even with the volume there they had to charge around SGD1200 to SGD1300. So the price for Malaysia given the volume we have is quite fair.

After all, we are paying for all the air fare and accomodation to get them here.

I agree with everyone that the price is steep. But comparing it with the price by MG, it is slightly more expensive here, however after considering the amount you spend traveling to and back from SG, it balances off. Sending your ECU over to SG is another story lah. :hahano:

To me, premium goodies comes at a premium price. This is one of the few things I'm willing to spend more on. (to me some accessories for the car is way overpriced, but that's just me)

Anyway wangan you might get more than 20 cars.. see if you can garner some interest from over the causeway & the South China Sea (attn: theboy :p:)

Or, better, give special discount for RX-8 club members. Not necessarily on the remap, perhaps discount on your other accessories maybe? Or voucher makan ka, massage ka... hahaha!

Dude..... i do plan to remove the CAT and install the aftermarket clutch + lightweight flywheel.....BUT..... i don't think it'll change my perception on the RX8 shortcommings.....Why u ask? Simply coz ive owned the FC3S & FD3S Rx7's.....These two cars ran quite significant intake and exhausts portings..... Soooo, logically..... the Renesis NA engine will NEVER live up to my expectations.....

I didn't keep the FC3S for long...BUT.....the FD3S Rx7 stayed with me for a good 4 and a half years..... That was 1 awesome ride (FD3S)...... Finished 3rd in the Pasir Gudang Nite Sprints Challenge (Trophy at home :ylsuper: ).... Running 1.3 Bar of Boost on Ceremic Apex Seals.... Trust Rebic III injector controller + Rebic III Simulator..... Knight Sports 320Km/h Meter Panel Kit (which i drove till 302km/h wittnessed by my mechanic who was sitting beside me)..... My wife too had the pleasure of hitting that speed sitting beside me...... Did that kind of runs at least 5 times in all........ Was invited by the son of the late Tengku Bendahara Johor to a track session with his Ferrari 512M V12 and Mondial Spider......During the journey via the Pasir Gudang Highway, he was shocked that i was "stuck" to his V12 monsters ass like glue.......Hahahaha....... when we arrived @ the Circuit, he commented on how a 1.3 litre Rotary engine could keep up with is V12 Monster........ I just laughed it off.....Hahahaha........

Boy, were those good times !!! I miss those days..........

Turbocharging my 8 does seem like the next step to take.....We'll see bout that 1.... Till then....... I'll just have to make do with the hand im dealt with.....

:) Not at all insane considering a "De-limited" Rx8 could achieve a top speed of 240++km/h....... And a "De-Limited" Rx7 could achieve 270km/h.......

However.... during one of my high speed runs in my Rx7.... I lost the complete passengerside brake duct + wheel well plastic covers...... Also.... at those speeds, the hood looked as if it was gonna crumple-up like a piece of tissue...... it was bending in wierd angles.....Thank god it stayed on.....

Forgot to mention, you guys can use Interest Free installment for the Remap service also. Currently can is AMBANK & CIMB.

Benny, I don't need 40 cars. Any number of cars also can.
Just that if we got more than 20, it's cheaper for you guys.

Even if we only have 1 car doing remap, RE will also be coming because of the FD3S. However, base on the response this trip, I think if RE see only a few cars, they probably won't waste time coming in future.

wangan, my suggestion is... also ask singaporean and brunei members to come remap. i think u can get 40 cars.

The remap is very fast only.
Base on current response, there might not be too many of us.
So depending on the number of people we will plan how to do it whether it's split session or something.

But it will be first come first serve so those who pay the deposit to book first will be able to get their car done first unless they choose to do later.

KS remap at RM1700 is only half the things that RE Map is offering.

For the RE Map you are also getting the latest Mazda updates.
There's no way for us to get those here since all of our cars are parallel imported.

:) Not at all insane considering a "De-limited" Rx8 could achieve a top speed of 240++km/h....... And a "De-Limited" Rx7 could achieve 270km/h.......

However.... during one of my high speed runs in my Rx7.... I lost the complete passengerside brake duct + wheel well plastic covers...... Also.... at those speeds, the hood looked as if it was gonna crumple-up like a piece of tissue...... it was bending in wierd angles.....Thank god it stayed on.....

Its a Cosmo 13B RE........ Even Lennon knows that if u want serious Horse Power, ud need to at the very least transplant the 13BT engine from the Rx7 FD...... Trouble is, by doing that..... ud end up getting a car like this dude....All stripped out..... Even the stock Rx8 meter cluster will be rendered useless..... A lot of rewiring will need to be done....... B'coz of the Renesis side ports, not much can be done in terms of improving horse power figures..... Mainly coz, they've pretty much max'd it out edi via this side exhaust port setup...... Why do u think the Renesis develops 250ps in NA form where-as the last NA RE engine from the FC3S 1988 model developed only 160ps...... That's a 90ps jump without increasing capacity........

The 8 is a really sweet ride but noisy as hell. Was beginning to get really annoyed with all the rattle from the door and road noise permeating through the heatsink. Came across a review on this product on Hypertune so thought I'd give it a try....
Left the car at KL Auto for half a day. Did the premium package with sum noise insulation.
All i can say is... wah lau! not bad wei.... obviously it didnt convert my ride into a total noiseproof music studio, but d reduction was SIGNIFICANT! oh, n all those road irregularities were reduced.

Next on my list.... my ride is bumpy. suspension and absorbers r OEM. Any suggestions? Was thinking of tien or aragostas but those according to sum reviews r worse than OEMs. I just need comfort la... Too much stress on my ass liao

sivanes81, if u change to normal suspension from type s suspension the comfort level will be greatly increase. noisy car must be due to engine oil grade.

All sports oriented car have a somewhat bumpy/ firm ride..... U can't have the best both worlds, its a compromise....... soft Comfortable Cushy Suspension equals a shitty handling car (read most American made cars)........ If its handling ur after, u bought the right car....... if its comfort ur after....... Hahahaha (u get the picture)...... changing to aftermarket suspension kits will only improve handling (hence the "Upgrade" term..... which means more often than not, a firm'er ride)...... If the comfort levels increace, then i'd term it a "downgrade"....... Aragosta, Cusco, TEIN, HKS Hipermax etc etc are all stiffer than stock.... They're also noisy'er over pot hole riddled roads......


I think u'd come to terms with the firm ride of ur Rx8 soon enuff..... Nice review on the Autofoam...... Maybe i'll also give it a try.... But, my 8 doesn't have any rattles from the doors....or even any annoying ones...... do u park ur 8 in the sun often...? That may explain those rattles n creaks.......

Neeway...... Type E suspension shud be more comfortable than Type S..... Ur 8 is a 6MT which means that ur 8 is a Type S (with Type S susp also of course).......

Try Tein Super Street..... Comfy type...... Aragosta is RM10k, for track use.... If you think, Mazdaspeed is bumpy, only OEM shock is suitable for you......

haha bro u miss understand, i mean change to normal suspension in the part book. not the type s one. from type s downgrade to normal one.
Rotary oil is great, it protect the engine well. i don't know why it is noisy on my car too. try 5w30 mineral oil. then you know what i mean. but it couldn't protect your engine like rotary oil. don't press it too hard.

Effie u are right, i changed my spring to MS one, and hell its bumpy. but it corner really great. u can't have both. heheh
Type E suspension could be normal one or Type S one. its optional.

Dude..... i do plan to remove the CAT and install the aftermarket clutch + lightweight flywheel.....BUT..... i don't think it'll change my perception on the RX8 shortcommings.....Why u ask? Simply coz ive owned the FC3S & FD3S Rx7's.....These two cars ran quite significant intake and exhausts portings..... Soooo, logically..... the Renesis NA engine will NEVER live up to my expectations.....

I didn't keep the FC3S for long...BUT.....the FD3S Rx7 stayed with me for a good 4 and a half years..... That was 1 awesome ride (FD3S)...... Finished 3rd in the Pasir Gudang Nite Sprints Challenge (Trophy at home :ylsuper: ).... Running 1.3 Bar of Boost on Ceremic Apex Seals.... Trust Rebic III injector controller + Rebic III Simulator..... Knight Sports 320Km/h Meter Panel Kit (which i drove till 302km/h wittnessed by my mechanic who was sitting beside me)..... My wife too had the pleasure of hitting that speed sitting beside me...... Did that kind of runs at least 5 times in all........ Was invited by the son of the late Tengku Bendahara Johor to a track session with his Ferrari 512M V12 and Mondial Spider......During the journey via the Pasir Gudang Highway, he was shocked that i was "stuck" to his V12 monsters ass like glue.......Hahahaha....... when we arrived @ the Circuit, he commented on how a 1.3 litre Rotary engine could keep up with is V12 Monster........ I just laughed it off.....Hahahaha........

Boy, were those good times !!! I miss those days..........

Turbocharging my 8 does seem like the next step to take.....We'll see bout that 1.... Till then....... I'll just have to make do with the hand im dealt with.....

i understand how u can be attached to that car, its still a very cun looking car, looks just stunning when ever i see it on the road, super sleek and low. too bad its just so old and costly to mantain.

the 8 is fatter compared to 7 but it looks good also, becos it has a sophisticated look.

Most of those runs were done on the JB side of the north south highway (Kempas) at around 2am........ 2 other runs were done on that same highway leading to Batu Pahat (there's a very long straight stretch of road approaching BP)............... Yes, it was insanely fast....BUT..... the FD is amazingly easy to controll...... I even swept past a dude driving a modded Satria doing 210kmh ++ like he was standing still..........

But, i don't think i'll ever try these sort of runs anymore...... VERY DANGEROUS!!! Everything bout the car has to be perfect if anyone tries this sort of thing..... Tyres MUST be NEW and have the appropriate speed rating, Suspension must be top notch (in my case it was APEXi Adjustables)..... etc etc........

And, yes......the FD is too old edi...... However, id love to purchase to last batch 2001 model Rx7 if i have the moolah.....

I didn't say the Rx8 is ugly..... I bought it partly coz of its looks.....Just looks soooo different than anything else on the road....... Love the car.......

-Tap the input signals from the tv tuner module to get Left, Right Audio & Video
so the result is 3 RCA jacks.
u then plug these jacks to any AV source, like dvd player, handphone, lap top, etc...

to use this, press yr monitor button, then press the tv button, located on yr shifter panel. to go back to cd audio, just press the cd button on the h/u

-the 2nd mod is to disable the handbrake signal, becos by default once ur handbrake is released, the tv stops working, (for safety sake they do not want u to drive and watch tv), this is located in the monitor panel, not the head unit.

*to hook up to your hp, u must have a sony ericsson handsfree that is detachable so that u have a 3.5mm audio jack. this hands free is like the one that comes with a W810 or W800 SE hp. so u also need a 2RCA to 1 3.5mm audio jack (male)
