Grand Am GT Classic at Lime Rock, CT May 25-28

Ladies and gentlemen,

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Ray and I'm a member of Mazda6club.

As you may or may not know the Grand-Am GT Classic at Lime Rock, CT is just around the corner starting May 25-28. We are working with Mazdaspeed Motorsports and other sponsors in organizing four day meet where we get our own:

1. Mazda corral
2. Passes to all the scheduled races.
3. The opportunity to cheer on the Mazdaspeed 6's from Protomotive Racing, Tindol Motorsports, and Tri-Point Engineering as they leave the competition behind in the Speed World Challenge Touring Car series. Meet the team members and drivers working to lead Mazdaspeed to victory. See them and their race cars up close and personal.
4. Pace car controlled parade lap around the world famous Lime Rock road circuit.
5. Much much more.

I can personally testify that Mazda Motorsports wants us, the loyal Mazda enthusiasts, to show up and fill up a car corral so why don't we oblige? They've supporting the Mazda community by sponsoring the 24 Hours of Sebring meet down in FL weeks ago. With sponsorship, we were able to secure premium race week packages for the attendees at a discounted price of $100 each person. I would like to replicate that package at Lime Rock, but that will only occur if we show Mazda that there are plenty of committed diehard enthusiasts for the race. So, will you heed Mazda's call?

Having attended the SWC/ALMS races at Mid-Ohio and Sebring, I can testify that going to the these races is nirvana for Mazda enthusiasts of all ages. The Mazda teams will appreciate your attendance, because it makes the race mean much much more with supporters in the stands. You, the enthusiast, will be treated to best racing series running in America today in the company of like-minded individuals. I guarantee you that it will be an experience of a lifetime.

Thus, I cordially extend the invitation to our rotary brethren.

Zoom freaking Zoom,
Ray

This is also right on the heels of the Mazdas at LimeRock event on Memorial Day. This could be a nice weekend of race watching and Mazda Enthusiast enjoyment! I might try and make this too.

By the way, I forgot to mention that Grand Am GT class is one of the races scheduled that weekend. Recall that SpeedSource RX-8's race in that class. Currently, they lead the points in the GT class with back-to-back wins at Mexico City and Homestead. You RX-8 guys are in for a treat.

Speed World Challenge Touring Car is also running that weekend. You'll see Tindol Motorsports and Tri-Point Engineering teams with their 6's. The Tri-Point Engineering 6's of Jeff Altenburg and Randy Pobst placed first and second, respectively, at Sebring and that was a delight to watch as a 6 owner. Randy was kind enough to talk and give autographs to a few Mazda enthusiasts the day before the Touring Car race:

awesome! I'm on that list already.

This is going to be some great Mazda action all weekend! Gawk at the SpeedSource 20B monster!

Randy Pobst is a great driver, and so is Jeff Altenburg, excited to meet them!

Seeing both in action is a treat. You've never seen late-braking until you've seen Jeff Altenburg do late-braking.

Jeff and Randy are just the coolest guys to talk to. Very down-to-earth, friendly, and they really appreciate their fans. They autographed their "hero" cards for me at Mid-Ohio last year and I put those up on my office wall. Randy was kind enough to autograph the SpeedSource RX-8 page of my Mazdaspeed calendar at Sebring this year. Here's Jeff holding up our banner:

What day is the GT race? Monday? Sunday? I plan to caravan with a BUNCH of folks from the M'sters Miata club and miata.net on Monday morning. If the Speedsource 8's are running Sunday, I'll go then too.

1 pass per person or 1 pass per car. My RX-7 has only two seats so if i stuff 3 ppl in my car does that still count as 1 pass hehe =)

1 pass per person. Each driver will get a car corral pass along with his pass as part of the package. Corral space may be limited that's why we have the list going of how many car passes we'll need.

Bump! Updated list. Spoke to Amp this afternoon and he's torn whether to bring the Mazdaspeed6 or the RX-7.

That's a very good question about Kids admission. I don't know the answer but I'll inquire for you.

Here is an update from Marlon who is working with me on this:

We are nearly done with our negotiations, I am just waiting on Mazdaspeed and Modern Motors to finish doing their thing, we should have everything completed by Friday. Here is what I can tell you at this point.

1. We will have 3 parade laps, Friday, Saturday and Monday

2. We will have 2 catered lunches

3. Mazda hat and Mazdaspeed Shirts

4. Tickets can be purchased on line or by phone We will have our own code and password.

5. Individual tickets can be purchased for single days, i.e. Friday, Saturday, Sunday ( no racing or parade lap) or Monday.

6. The first 50 cars will be the only ones allowed on the parade laps, if any of the 50 cars drop out, we will have a stand by list.

Again, the members who signed up will be given a 48 hour window to purchase ticketrs before it is released to the boards over all. Ray or myself will PM each member. Children under 12 are free, I will again check with Melanie to confirm, or maybe she can chime in here.

I can tell that if you only come to Monday's race, it will cost you $40, so you know we are working a great deal for all of our Mazda owners! Please remember, only Mazda's will be allowed in the corral, no exceptions!

So look for more information soon!

Kids under 12 are free!!!! WOOT!!!!!!! ya just made me a happy man. I'll be talking to her tonight about this her son loves cars and will probably enjoy this very very very much (so will I but thats obvious haha).

Oh also I didnt know that the Grand-AM is racing that weekend also, thought they were gonna be racing on the July 7th weekend? Oh well I dont care as long as I know which date it is so I can go. I doubt I'll be able to drive to CT every day for this so I'll pick most likely two of the days (most likely skip the time trail day usualy friday right??).

Ok off to work with me and thanks for looking into the kids situation for me

Damned work filter. I can't get to the Grand-AM schedule...

In any event, yes it has been confirmed that kids under 12 have free admission.

Thanks for bringing up an important issue. I'm a single dude so it's not often I think about the stuff like kids admission.
