A twist on the MPG issue: What is the WORST mileage you can get?

I thought I might make the MPG issue a little lighter by posing this question: What is the WORST mileage you can get? I'm talking about doing only city driving, redlining every shift, pushing top acceleration at every light... Essentially having a blast with your RX-8.

I wonder, will anyone drain their tank in less than 150 miles? Will we push mpg into the single digits? How low? 8? 6? 5?!?!

For those who have broken in engines, this might be a fun experiment.

My very first tank was my worst at 175 miles. Although this sunday I'm going to an Autox event so I am sure that will drain it a whole lot quicker. I'll post results next week :D

The worst mileage I have gotten is 12 MPG. That was shifting around 6000 RPM.

With this car, I think If I were to drive as you stated, redlining every gear, etc., I believe I could get around 4-5 MPG.

I swear, when I give it a good rev, I can see the needle of the gas gauge fall!

My last tank was 10.8mpg.

Using Sams Club Regular 89.

This car... it just begs to be driven faster (not harder). I have not found myself driving the posted "speed limit" since I've gotten this rotary rocket. I think I'll ease up on the pedal a lil when I've gotten the "newness" out of her... lol... I'll have a "NEW 2004" for... another 15 months. :D

hehe, just kiddin... takin the 8 off the road at first snow signs. That'll save a lil on gas I guess.

I kinda tired of hearing members say :

"I got XX.X MPG on a tankful"
WHY? This sounds like you fillup, then divide by a 'tankfull" 15.9 gal, which is obviously wrong.

or I only get *about* XX MPG.
WHY? This sounds like you are just guessing, and really don't have any idea what your real mileage is. You either know or you don't! I don't buy 'about'!

Let's get specific, that is EXACT! I wish it were a rule before someone could post a number out here that they give (whether they lie about it is another issue, but whatever) *at least*:

1) miles driven before fillup
2) galllons/liters bought

Even at that, filling up to the same spot each time is problematic, so the best method is the

1) TAKE THE MILEAGE AT A FILLUP.
2) DRIVE AND FILL MAYBE 2-4 TANKS RECORDING GAL/LITERS

Then give the mileage based on those larger numbers. In other words guy (and gals)... How about some further PROOF of your lousy mileage??
