You can blow flames out with the stock exhaust too.

I get backfire and flame at just about every 1-2 shift at 8.5k+ with just supercat and stock catback. Everyone loves it.

is that for all stock 8's? if it is, im surprised to not hear of this more often from members.

yes, all rx-8s.
You'll want to rev your engine higher, drive around at 6-7k for a bit, then rev it.
if you really want to blow flames, you'll want to get a catless midpipe instead of a replacement exhaust. that'll allow it to happen more easily.

You can blow flames with with the 8 and any exhaust if you try hard enough - but remember that flames are caused from unburnt combustion chamber fuel flowing into the exhaust, then igniting and burning later.
While Rotary's are prone to doing this already when you run them hard, doing this just for the "flame" effect WILL further shorten your catalyst life (unless you don't care and plan to go with a cat-less mid-pipe anyways).

I have the greddy exhaust on my manual. It "pops" a lot. If i floor it then release the accelerator but stay in the same gear my exhaust pops off as the rpm's die down. Kinda neat.
