Question BBK with 17" Rims

Does anyone here have a Big Brake Kit on a 17" Rim?

I was wanting to do this summer, but yesterday i noticed that there is barely any room with the OEM Brakes and the 17" Rim, probably about 1/2"... so i really doubt a BBK would fit.

If anyone here has done it, let me know - details would be appreciated.

Just out of curiosity, what 17 inch wheels are you running and on what size tire? Pictures?

Are you sure? I would expect the Enkei wheel version of the RacingBrake BBK to have the best shot at making it. It will likely depend on the wheel too.

If the RB won't fit then none of the others likely will either.

If you can Rishie or somebody to send me a wheel I can check the fitment, but he sells RB and may be able to check it out too

when you say 1/2" where exactly are you referring to, the top or side of the caliper?

Yeah - there is plenty of distance between the caliper and spokes, but im referring to the top side and the wheel wall. I'll take a pic for you when i get home today.
Do you know how much taller the RB Caliper is with the bigger brake setup?

I wish when we were both in Texas, I took you up on your offer to fit my 17" rim with your racing brake setup.

I really dont want to get rid of the 17s. Replacing tires on the 17s is so much less expensive than 18s, and it took fovever to find a good 17X9 rim.

I'll see if I can get you a dimension template

I have one for the standard RB BBK, but not the Enkei wheel version

You might try asking Brian Goodwin @ Goodwin Racing too, he sells both the wheels and the RB BBK

The Enkei version BBK moves the caliper & rotor inboard about 12mm more than the standard BBK. While this does give you spoke clearance, it also moves the top of the caliper away from the spoke/rim interface area which usually has a smaller diameter adjacent to it

I hate to resurrect this thread, but did you guys ever find the answer to this question? I've been looking at getting a set of 17x9 RPF1's and some RB calipers/rotors. I believe the "stock size" kit will have axial clearance issues, but the BBK with the Enkei offset will have radial clearance issues, but if somebody has confirmed this for certain I would really like to know

i doubt the RPF1 in any offset will clear (unless you put on spacers).

I have FN01RC 17x9 and it cleared both AP and project mu 4 pot bbk.

hope this helps.

Thanks... I'm pretty sure I need to start looking for a different solution.

I wasn't referring to the wheel offset; RB makes an "Enkei offset" BBK that has a taller rotor hat to give more clearance for the wheel spokes. However, with the larger rotor I don't think there would be enough radial clearance on a 17" rim, and they don't offer the same "Enkei offset" in their standard size rotor/caliper kit.
