anyone know what it ought to cost to have TPMS sensors installed on wheels that are already mounted on the car?

I bought the wheels/tires preassembled, and i'm still considering whether or not to put the TPMS sensors in

 

I'm about to do the same thing in the next few weeks and would be interested in the same info.

 

Every winter spring/ i switch tires on my stock rims. My dealer charges me 80 bucks to install my snow tires (that i have mounted on stock wheels ). Seeing that to install TPMS you'd have to take the tire off, and remount, i'd guess it'd be around 80 bucks?

 

i guess that's not that bad. I know it would be a big pain in the *** because you'd have to take the tire off, mount it, then probably rebalance and mount the tires

I'll give some people a call about it and post my findings

 

Anyone know if the TMPS's that come with the 16" wheels are the same as the 18"? Hm..

You don't have the stock TPMS's? They are about 4 birds new and I think you have to buy them from Mazda. You can, however, buy some used ones. Some guys here sell them for much cheaper than Mazda. The only thing is you'll never really know if they are working or not until you've bought them and have them installed?! I suggest buy them either from a respected member or just kick the extra dough for some new ones...

 

no, i've got em....i just have to take them out of the old wheels and put them in the new ones

 

Oh, in that case, it might be something like $60 at your local tire shop. Just make sure that they are gentle with your wheels and that they know how to deal with TPMS.

I really didn't think so. It just pains me to think about having my tires taken off and put back on my rims just to find out 1 doesn't work.

When I sold my oem rims, I sold my TPMS along with them like a dumbass. I decided that I want them so I bought a used set. I just forsee some dumbass shop tearing up my rims and having to go through the hassle of getting them to fix the wheels. This fear is multiplied 10-fold when I think of going through all of this just to find out that one of the TPMS I bought don't work and I have to go through the whole process over again. Am I worrying for nothing?

 

yea,
to some extent you are... tpms is pretty much the norm now..... i would use tirerack.com to find an installer. and use them to install the tires tpms to the wheels......

it really is not a big deal anymore.. i fought this a year ago... turned out fine...

if you ? a tpms... i have one that is fine, but the threads are damaged. if you need to test something..

note to you.. dont fret. make sure you have a good installer..

Thanks for the vote of confidence swoope. I've seen the process on how to find out which one is bad once they are mounted so I shouldn't need your spare, but thank you for the offer.
