oh ya!! look at that leg room!!! i'm assuming that the driver's seat isn't exactly pushed as far forward as it could go, so some comprimize could be made for taller occupants in the back... that's awesome!! super pics.

on the inside of the rear door which one of those handle like things is the actual handle?

Notice the vents behind the front wheel look to have more black plastic round them than the yellow car... like the new pictures on the Japanese web site...

You can even make out 3 separate openings in there.,,,

Does anyone know what those switches marked with a "??" are?
Also, even though this is an all-black interior, the seats still have the inserts, they are just black (see the bits marked with a "**").
So, I think that the RX-8 will be available with body-colour seat inserts, or if you don't want that, you get black inserts regardless of body colour.

the upper ?? would be for switching the control to operate either the driver or passenger side mirror. the lower ?? could be power locks? now back to my question- what are the 2 handle looking thingies on the rear door? also how did you get that whole pic to post? i kept getting the " the file is to large" message.

by the way check the 360 view on the mazda uk site (http://www.mazdarx8.co.uk/upclose/ipix/default.asp?title=360%26deg%3B+Interior) it is of yellow rx8 and the switches on the door are different. they are from an older car.

ya zoom, that upper cut-out on the inside of the door looks to be at about handle-level, eh?? the only thing is that it's huge!! and it'd be difficult to actuate from the rear seat, but a peice of cake to pull when in one of the front seats...

whats up with the seat belt? it looks like it might be connected to something on the floor or is it just dangling there? if you look across to the passenger side you can see the hardware for the popout window, if anybody wasn't convinced yet.

The top ?? are for the "left and right" driver and passenger side mirror.

The bottom ?? are for the lock and unlock, and the other button is for the window lock feature :)

If I'm not mistaken, that happy guy you see in this picture is Wu-Huang Chin, affectionately called "Chin". His main claim to fame is that he was the young designer mostly responsible for the 3rd generation RX-7. He also was very instrumental with the original concept and design of the RX-8 including the center section comprising the body and the four doors ala suicide. Chin also worked with Tom Matano on some of the Miata concept cars. He is truly a brilliant designer.

On the link above in the first post, all the pictures are actually one large picture. I pasted it into MS Paint, and cut away the other pics I didn't want, saved it as a .jpg after I added the yellow text, and voila.

WOW!! THAT GUY DESIGNED THE FD, AND ONE OF THE SIGNATURE ASPECTS OF THE RX-8???? HOLY FREAK, THAT'S ONE DAMNED COOL PICTURE!!!!

btw, Mazda better give him a clean sheet of paper and a pencil for the 5th gen 7, IMHO...

on another note to zoom, i think that ya, the front seat belt's lower attachement point is ya, right there on the floor beside the rear passenger's seat... hmmmmmm.... that WOULD make stepping straight out of the car from the back a liiiittle precarious if you were blind-folded or something...

Hmm....

I didn't get to sevenstock, but isn't it rather unlikley that the editor of RX-7 Magazine would have got that close to the RX-8... let alone drive it (We can't see if it's the same person driving though).

They happy guy seen pictured here is a editor of RX-7 Magazine from Japan. They (he and a photographer) were there that friday, getting pictures of the cars in the courtyard, and pics of the caravan people as they arrived.

I have his card (with his name on it) somewhere at home...

i miss the engine start button !! this little nice thing.. please mazda d'ont forget it.

The start button is gone. This is confirmed.

The start button would be conveninent if you stalled the car... ;)

Start buttons are pretty easy to DIY if you wanted to... there are a few kits out there for cheap for the FD...

replaces the cig lighter. Should work for the rx8.
