thought i would post some positives on my new rx8.i just hit 3000 miles today and have had zero problems, none.the car handels like no other i have drove and after a run down the hgy with a boxter s a few days ago i am not disapointed in the power output.wife was in the car with me and boxter driver was alone, twice we ran and the 8 pulled his car 15 to 20 car lengths both times.after this he was making up some ground but he could not get close enough to pass.im sure alot of you will say no way but its true and got the thumbs up from the boxter driver once i let him pass.anyway on another note my mileage has went from 17mpg to 19.5 with no diffrence in driving style(i like to rev)and after mazda buys my borla cat back system i think ill call it even.imo i think mazda did a kick ass job on this car in looks, handling, awsome brakes and my list goes on.the only thing i could complaign about is the bose system could have been better and the rear windows should latch alittle tighter.to sum it up i think as the mileage climbs so does mpg,my car uses 1 pint of oil every 1500 miles(have only burnt 1 qt in 3000 miles)have had no oil light,no cel, nothing but a smooth running sportscar that can give a boxter s a run for its money atleast at highway speeds.

I'm at 3100 miles
mpg is around 18
car seems to run smoother since oil change
Everything seems to be coming together

Do you mean latch closed or latch open?

Mine has just over 3000 miles. Changed oil. I am getting 20 mpg with premium. The car feels faster. Even the bose sounds better with age. I put in sheepskins and the bose improved again.

i mean they should latch closed a little tighter, they dont leak but if the door gets closed too hard sometimes they will pop open.

Good to hear your 8 is running so well. 15-20 car length is impressive. Are you sure you weren't racing a Geo wearing a boxter kit.;) J/K

it was a boxter s,i let him pass after the runs to make sure.just a note on this,it was not from a dead stop but at 70 mph to about 125-130mph.i did say that after i pulled him i could tell he was starting to make up some ground.i dropped from 6th to 3rd and ran till the buzzer in 3rd and 4th.

Maybe it was some poseur who has a Boxster but put Boxster S tags on his car to make everyone think he bought the more expensive one.

LOL.. Somebody lives in the Bazzaro World..

Boxter S:
0-30 mph 1.96 s
0-40 mph 2.69 s
0-50 mph 4.44 s
0-60 mph 5.60 s
0-70 mph 7.65 s
0-80 mph 9.46 s
0-90 mph 11.40 s
0-100 mph 14.51 s
1320 ft (1/4 mile) 14.17 s @ 99.51 mph

15-20 Lenghts... :p

Boxter S: (according to you)
0-30 mph 1.96 s
0-40 mph 2.69 s
0-50 mph 4.44 s
0-60 mph 5.60 s
0-70 mph 7.65 s
0-80 mph 9.46 s
0-90 mph 11.40 s
0-100 mph 14.51 s

Subtracted BY:

Mazda Rx-8 R&T Test Difference
0-30mph 2.1 s = .14s
0-40mph 3.2 s = .51s
0-50mph 4.5 s = .06s
0-60mph 5.9 s = .30s
0-70mph 8.0 s = .35s
0-80mph 10.0s= .54s
0-90mph 12.8s= 1.4s
0-100mph 15.9s= 1.39s

HOWEVER
Boxter
80 to 90mph= 1.94s
90 to 100mph= 3.11s

Rx-8
80 to 90mph= 2.8s
90 to 100mph= 3.10s

Conceivable after the shift at 90mph the rx-8 will rev into the better part of it rev range and over take the Boxter S at peek power output, and for the type of racing they where doing 70 to 130mph that would favor the Rx-8. Of course I know nothing about the boxter's gearing but at 100mph isn't it in 5th while the rx-8 is in 4th?

Mine's got about 3200 mi.

Just got my best milage: 17.13 MPG on 80/20 highway/city driving.

Just finished with two fill ups in a row of 87 Octane. The car seemed to be running a little rough. Especially at lower speeds and idle. Switched back to 91 Octane tonight. Much smoother.

Drives like a dream. Guzzles gas like there's no tomorrow.
