I am surprised to find so many on here that are upset with the 8??.....or maybe it is just a small few that are making their voice heard..............but I luv the car......have one on order for spring, and can't imagine giving it back...........a great car, with very solid performance......and lets face it, in 6mths-12mths, we will see K&N filters, maybe a chip for extra hp, for those who want more jump......almost every car now can be modified with a chip, and the 8 with an extra 20-30hpwould be great.....but the car suits me fine just the way it is.........not many cars can make heads turn like this one...........I didn't by it for mileage, or 1/4 times.......but for pure handling and performance.....which when compared to the 350Z, does not fall that far behind on the 1/4mile stuff....................I know with the 1.8Tjetta I currently have, a chip gives an extra 20-25hp..........might be an option for the 8?.........any other edmonton owners out there?........or in Canada that luv it as much as I do.........:D

test drove alot of cars before this one....acura, Honda, 350Z, G35....settled on the 8.....the smooth power just sneaks up on you.............still a fast car!, and in no time we will have the mods to make it faster if we want

Nobody was able to successfully create a chip for either the 2nd or 3rd gen Rx-7 that yeilded any gains. It would probably be safe to predict that things will be no different with the Rx-8.

Intake & exhaust are what the rotary responds to the best, or a turbo of course. It will be interesting to see if the gains with the Renesis and a true dual uncollected set up will be as dramatic as were with the na 13b. Mazdatrix reported a 38% increase in rwhp with HKS cannisters, presilencers and a header.

I wonder if the new exh port set up on the side housings instead of the peri's will be as responsive to a free flowing exhaust?

WHAT?

I know several people with boost controllers and computers on RX-7 3rd gen cars.

Some of them make 350HP with stock engine and turbos.

It IS a good idea to put in better air lines from the turbos to the intake manifold, and a bigger intercooler, though.

I am also a huge fan of the 8. Ive got an 06' and as long as you treat them the way rotary's need to be treated it is an awesome car. An i definitely agree with the amount of looks and comments i get when im in this car. i would get the 09 when im done too !

Back when this thread was started, Mr. Wizard was still alive.

That made this elephant very happy.

Mr. Wizard is now entertaining children in heaven.

Some say he died of multiple myeloma, but I'm pretty sure he was murdered by Bill Nye.

That leaves us with two options:

We can sit around and mourn the passing of a television personality loved by millions of children - the route chosen by these little girls and their stunned brother* -

Or we can give this gentleman a call, go back in time and try to save him.

Your call.

* Sorry, I don't have a picture of a sad elephant. For the most part they are really contented creatures.
