I guess it must be my trusting nature for my car dealer (Grand Prix Mazda, Aspley, Brisbane) to do the right thing, because I confess to not having checked my tyre pressures for a month after taking delivery and after my 1000km service. Before I drove off this morning, the tyres cold in the garage overnight, I checked the pressures: 42, 38, 38, 38, 39psi or 290, 262, 262, 269kPa(recommended is 32 psi - 220kPa all round). Even though the tyre gauge is only cheap, it has checked out in the past, but just to make sure I drove to the nearest service station and re-checked. Exactly the same results!

It suggests to me that pre-delivery is a crock, and they couldn't care less.

I have dropped the pressure back to 34psi -234kPa until I get some better advice on whether to take it back to the Mazda recommended pressure.

Just checked the tyre pressures in my car after reading this and they are all on or near 32psi. When I picked up the car last Wednesday the dealer told me they had 34psi in them.

I only asked the service guy if he had checked them because I once bought an imported car that I found had over 50psi in each tyre !! So it does pay to check - get those gauges out !

Dealers are getting large sums of money to do this kind of checking so let's hope they actually do more often than not.

Went to check mine about 2 weeks after getting it as I was going for a short drive (800km :)) and mine were 38psi all around...

36 psi is recommended use at the willowbank raceday , and the jim murcott schooll of driving , so i will stick to 36psi.

Mine were 45psi at delivery. dropped to around 35-36psi.

Apparently the best tyre guage is the PCL pen type tyre gauge. Beat all others when tested by Choice magazine(including a VDO one). it is cheap at $9.95 from K-Marts when I bought it a couple of years ago.

Mine were 34 all round when I picked mine up. I'm running them 38 all round. Just checked them today after 2 weeks since I pumped up to 38 and they are 37 all round.

Glad I checked the fuel level when I picked mine up ... it was $10 short.
