Finally finished re-painting the 8, took some pixs so here goes....

It set me back around USD 1000 for the raw materials. the airbrush around 300 bucks. I saved a lot on labor, since I did it in my own shop. :D:
I also added carbon fibre trunk in additon to the already CF hood, wing and mirrors. I also bought a brand new set of 20'wheels and air suspension. I'll take more pix later after I finish polishing the whole thing.

No it's not your imagination, I opened the sunroof coz I wanted to get the whole thing sprayed thoroughly. I did wrap everything else though, not to worry. hahaha... My only regret was not taking the sunroof off first. I kinda did the upholstery first which should've been later after the re-spray.

the top part is a gradient from purple to black, as u can see from the detail, the CF hood is also sprayed using a transparent purple.
from the graphix down is a mystic chameleon by ALSA called Tropical Passion. combiination of red, copper, green, orange and grey.

The heat activated is called exposure. It's like the Aussie T-shirt "Hypercolor" right??when u paint it, u'll get a normal black but exposed to sunlight you get a diamond rainbow glitters around the heated area.

ooohhhh..I know, the Eclipse right. One of the guy here have it already, It's ok. But at night it look like any ordinary color and the downside is, it only last for around 9 months. Is it the same one we're talking about??
Aniway I'm quite happy with the new set up, I also notice that one of the australian member did a similar set up like my old one. He also did it in my friends shop eurolineauto.com.au right...?

Your car was and still is one of the sickest 8's on this board. The new paint job looks amazing, and I cant wait to see it all wrapped up! Good luck with it all and keep up the hard work.

While i appreciate the work and craftsmanship that went into it, im not into the paint scheme. Im sure he still has to went sand cause the orange peel is quite evident.

Yep there's orange peel everywhere. of course I will wet sand it, as u can see in the recent pix, I already did some parts. I also finished installing the rest of the car, like the CF Trunk, CF mirrors, LED trunk brake, CF wing, VS badge front & rear. The air suspension is also installed.
The orange peel was caused by 8 layers of clear coat without thinner, I'm trying to get all the maximum gloss possible while burying the grafix layer. Have to wet sands like crazy.
I know many dislike all the color scheme and graphix and all but I kinda needed the attention. The car is sorta a mascot for the shop, so it have to stand out in car shows exhibition and regular meet. U know to hook up customers.

I had triple black pearl done on my Maxima with triple clear and it took my buddy forever to wet sand it. I was probably his biggest pain in the ass customer ever but then again I have sent him hundreds of thousands in business so he owed me then and still does now. I bet it looks good now.

So did they paint the carbon hood while keeping the weave? Thats impressive!!

BTW, in post #39 the pass side intercooler piping seems to not be connected anywhere. Or maybe it has a sharp angle.

I've always like that style of color combo. Tho I agree it's unecessary on the 8, it still looks sic. If I saw something like that rollin around RI the first thing I would think is "damn - I gotta find out what shop did that!"

Paint jobs like that are a dime a dozen in the U.S. Hell, I passed a jackass in his Cougar on the way home that had a simlar paint scheme. It will get you points at a show though.

chromallusion paint is very expensive...

Back in the day my boy had a 97' stepside with a paint job like that. It cost him 8k and a couple of years later he was drunk and sideswiped a chain link fence. They totaled his truck due to the cost of repainting.

Fine looking job Inspire love the colors and the graphics. and yes I know about wet sanding a complete car, done enough to appreciate it when it's done right.

The bottom half down is a chameleon paint so it shift from copper to green.
the top half is a gradient from purple to black. It looks green coz the part thats facing u will always looks green the rest will look copper.

Not yet, only got the front. the rear tyres are still sticking out so, I dont want the rear fenders to be sitting on top of the wheels and end up messing up the paint.
I rolled the fenders but it seems that 295 is too wide. I'll try to trim off the wheels offset around 2mm tomorrow and see what happens

this is the lowest settings for the time being. It can go lower but then the bodykit

I knew the D1 was a bit overkill. hahaha...well at least I tried it. I always wanted to put it on,but hesitated. I'll take it off in the near future.
Those are actually airbrush, not vinyl. some says the grafix are too much but since I'm using quite a lot of dark color, it needs a little lighter divider. and the design was supposed to make the car look faster even when it's standing still.

dont mind green and purple... had a few bits of PPG harliquen paint (sliver2green)on the bonnet of one of my otehr cars...

I like it, i like it alot, but my sister came in and took a peek at the monitor and said.. what's that eggplant on wheels doing on the monitor?!
